Michelle did my hair for my wedding, as well as the hair for 9 bridesmaids, the mother of the bride, my sister-in-law, and my niece (flower girl). She had 4 hours to get this done, and our wedding was Gatsby-themed so it meant finger waves for EVERYONE. She did an outstanding job. I went to my trial with messy hair so the overall complete look wasn't exactly what I had imagined, but I could tell right away that Michelle was the one for the job. She assured me that the day of it would be perfect, and we discussed little ways to tweak it to make it more in line with my vision. Then I sent her a Pinterest board with three different looks I wanted to combine, and day of miracle, she made it happen. My hair looked exactly as I imagined it would and I received compliments throughout the evening about it. Meanwhile somehow working with only one assistant, she also managed to make the rest of the Bridal party look absolutely 20s chic, and listened to my maids concerns when they wanted to be more or less conservative with their looks. I also found that her rates were competitive with other vendors I looked at, but non had the experience with period style hair like she did. I would highly recommend her services!

Michelle was a everything I needed and more. My husband and I were married May 4th, 2012 in an old DuPont Mansion out in Long Island so naturally we decided to have a light Gatsby-esque soirée. I knew I wanted finger waves and flowed into a big old side bun. I spent quite some time shopping online for a NYC hairdresser who could really come through with this vintage do. I found Michelle and I am so happy I did.

My sister (Maid of Honor) and I met her for a hair trial about in the LES where she worked with my hair, figured out the kinds beforehand. We did this about 6 months before my wedding. Michelle was friendly and had a really great character and I had a great time just speaking to her while she set my hair during the trial. My hair look fabulous and so did my sisters'.

***Hey Brides- I can't say how important a hair trial is. Don't skimp out. It makes the big day a whole lot less stressful.

In the time before the big day Michelle was a great help. She came pretty close to an impromptu wedding planner :)

1) In our discussions she mentioned a really fun, intimate burlesque venue in TriBeCa called "Duane Park" where I actually ended up having my bachelorette party at. Everyone had so much and it really set the tone to my themed wedding.

2) I was having issues finding a makeup artist for the big day, someone who could do a low-key version of 1920s makeup. Michelle recommended Claudia Lake who was just perfect. I will write more about her separately.

Michelle travelled to my mother's house in Queens for the wedding date accompanied by Joni, the owner of the salon she works at Kropps & Bobbers. Firstly, she was on time. She and Joni did the my hair and 5 other ladies. Everyone ended up with the most authentic hair-dos with just the right amount of sass that I was looking for.
My hair was exquisit, seriously. I wore a long veil for the ceremony and a birdcage during the reception and the figer waves were tight the bun was compact and intricate. Just non-stop compliments all night. Importantly, my hair stayed through the night and I was dancing like it was my business.

I could not be more pleased with my hair services. Dear Internet, please choose Michelle St. Darling for your special events.

P.S. Michelle- If you ever need a model for hair dos- please come a' knockin'
