Mathew is excellent and just seemed to know what songs to play at all times for our 30 guests at our Rancho Santa Fe home while we hosted a birthday party. He was able to play almost any song on request and could adapt to new songs and new requests. He stayed late and provided an encore of songs as well as provided a wireless microphone to support some speeches by our guests for the birthday girl. We would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a fun but classy event. Five stars all the way around.

We had Matt perform at our picnic elopement and he was an absolute dream to work with. He is so talented and truly made our special day even more romantic and magical. He really went above and beyond in ways that weren't even in his job description. We requested he play certain songs for us and he even sent us demos before the event. He has such an amazing voice and he's so skilled at the guitar and ukulele. We are honestly itching for another excuse to celebrate something so we can hire Matt again. We hired Matt to be the DJ for our September backyard wedding in Montecito. We had been considering just doing a spotify playlist to save some money (our wedding was very DIY) but I am SO HAPPY that we decided to hire him. He performed live guitar/vocals while our guests were arriving for the ceremony and during the cocktail hour, and DJ-ed our reception. His awesome live music totally set the tone for our event and made our day extra special - his MC-ing and DJ-ing was also great. Our guests were on the dance floor the whole evening just as we had hoped! We will 100% recommend Matt to any our our friends getting married in the SoCal area!!!

Matt was an absolute pleasure to work with. He has an enormous list of songs he can play & sing and was willing to learn some just for our wedding if we needed him to (which we didn’t since he had so many to choose from). He plays the guitar beautifully and has a lovely singing voice.
Leading up to the day, Matt was very responsive to any questions we had and offered advice on which songs he thought would be good for an instrumental-only processional & recessional. He arrived on time the day of our wedding and had everything set up with plenty of time to spare. He included the ceremony microphone & sound system as part of his services, which saved us a lot of money having to rent those separately. We’re really grateful to him for helping making our big day as enjoyable as it was.

We also had an atmosphere we wanted to create with enjoyable music for our guests, and Matt followed our vision. I was looking at a few different DJ’s and couldn’t decide on one so when we went wine tasting at an event at the Village Topanga we came across a musician Matt Commerce. He was playing and singing so beautiful so we decided to talk to him and ask if he does weddings too. When he said he does, we were happy to hear that and decided to pick him. We booked him for our wedding on March 10. The booking process was easy. Picking songs wasn’t easy haha because there are so many beautiful songs. The Day of the wedding, he was super professional, friendly, and great to work with. He was well dressed and was playing and singing beautifully during ceremony and cocktail hour. He did great DJ work during the reception too. I would definitely recommend him for any event. Matt is a great person, super professional and friendly and easy to work with.

For my wedding I wanted a musician that played acoustic music for the ceremony/cocktail hour and a DJ for reception dancing. I found the best of both when I contacted Matt Commerce!!!

From the first contact responses were prompt, booking easy, and pricing affordable. He sent us his acoustic song list that included hundreds of 80's/90's/today's hits that we could choose from. We chose a handful so he could get a sense of our style and let him fill in the rest(Bob Marley, Jack Johnson, Lumineers, Tom Petty, Bruno Mars, etc). He nailed our style and our guests loved listening to him! He switched it up to easy listening during dinner then moved into the dance party. BEST DANCE PARTY ever!!! I again sent a handful of songs and he filled in the rest. I wanted to be on the dance floor the entire night and he kept me and guests dancing until the very last song. In addition he was a great MC making any announcements and helping my coordinator move the evening along.
