We absolutely loved working with Mashita and their catering director, Spencer, for our wedding day! Not only is their food delicious, but Spencer has great attention to detail, is reliable, and can clearly and thoroughly articulate himself in emails. We highly recommend Mashita if you’re looking for incredible service and Korean-inspired cuisine.

We were interested in Mashita because of their yummy food variety and being able to accommodate for different dietary restrictions. For our wedding, we wanted guests who were vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free to be able to enjoy the wedding food and be happily full after! We expressed this to Mashita and were able to curate a menu from their dishes/catering packages and also make minor ingredient changes to accommodate for those with dietary restrictions/allergens.

Since Mashita wasn’t on our venue’s approved list of caterers, Spencer traveled from Harrisonburg to Afton to meet with our venue coordinator and do a walkthrough of the space/kitchen. In addition to food catering, they also provided other services like non-alcoholic beverages (water & housemade tea/lemonade) and bussing services.

We’re so happy with our choice, and our guests were raving about the steamed bun table and passed appetizers during cocktail hour and the dinner buffet we had with sweet chili-soy braised tofu, boneless pork ribs with BBQ sauce, miso butter braised bok choy, caramelized kimchi mac & cheese, and japchae! Since they’re also a restaurant, we definitely plan on visiting Mashita in Harrisonburg for anniversaries to come.

We loved working with Mashita for our wedding. The food was so yummy and the communication before the event was great. Also, they were able to easily accommodate our gluten free and veggie guests. We got a lot of compliments on the food - highly recommend!

We knew we didn't want expensive, traditional, boring catering for our wedding so we were delighted to find that Mashita was nearby and in our budget. Jen and Chef Mikey were both pros and good communicators. They were up front about what they could and couldn't do, and offered great tips on things like choosing what to serve at the bar. We hired them to also provide bartenders, serve dessert, and help pack up at the end of the night. As far as I know, everything went smoothly on the day-of (or at least if it didn't, it never made it up the chain to us, which is all I can ask for!!). Our guests raved about the food. (In fact we heard from multiple people that the dip included with the cheese board was to die for but we missed it ourselves!) We highly recommend Mashita!

I 100% recommend Mashita, since they went above and beyond for my wedding. Because of COVID, they provided plated service, bar tending, cake cutting, and even transported the rental dish and flatware I ordered. This flexibility is astounding, and not to mention they had delicious meals, appetizers, and drinks. Catering was the one vender I wanted to prioritize for quality, and Mashita exceeded that expectation.

Mashita's was our first pick for our wedding because they are one of our favorite restaurants. Due to Covid restrictions, they worked with us to ensure that the food could be served family-style so we could all maintain social distancing. It arrived on time and was absolutely delicious!

Amazing. Mashita just did the catering for our son's wedding. The food was outstanding and I received many compliments on it. Truth be told, I did not do too much but enjoy the food. My wife made the arrangements and said how easy they were to work with. With all the uncertainties and last minute issues that covid brought, Mashita rolled with it and went out of their way to accommodate us. Mikey is professional and instills that in his team. Jen and Kevin are top notch. I wish we lived in the area to enjoy this food more often. Thanks Mikey!

Mikey and the Mashita crew provided us with amazing catering options custom built around our dietary restrictions. We offered our guests some Korean dishes as well as more traditional dishes for our less adventurous family members, and everything was delicious! 100% recommend to anyone looking for quality catering services!

We were looking for a relaxed but delicious dinner for our wedding. My husband and I love enjoying the local food when we travel and food trucks are a favorite. The folks at Mashita were so great to work with and really made our wedding day such a success. They created a menu just for us with our favorite foods! Use them for your wedding and everyone will be raving it.

As two people who bonded over a shared love of food and drinks, we wanted to be sure that the food at our Nov 2024 wedding stood out. We had a variety of dietary restrictions to accommodate including a vegetarian bride. With this in mind, we wanted to make sure that whatever caterer we went with would be able to meet these dietary requirements while serving delicious food.

Mashita was our top choice from the moment we did our tasting. Not only was the food delicious but Mikey, the owner, came out to speak with us personally. He was incredibly personable and very upfront with what he and his staff would be able to provide, from serving wear to cocktails. When it came to the tasting, everything was delicious and the sauces were top notch. We were especially impressed with the tasty, varied, and filling vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. We decided to go with a large cheese board, phyllo bundles, and veggie dumplings for appetizers and the soy-braised chicken thighs, japchae with tofu, steamed white rice, garlic herb potatoes, and a mixed green salad for dinner. We also got their tofu bao buns for a late night snack which ended up being a huge hit!

Post-booking with the caterers went fairly smoothly. They primarily worked with our wedding planner to iron out the main details and only came to us when they needed clarification. I will say that some details came up that weren’t accounted for in our initial quote. On the day of the wedding, they were efficient and lovely to work with, serving appetizers, drinks, dinner, and dessert to our guests. The food ended up being as delicious as it was during our first tasting with them and we got numerous compliments from our guests. Mashita was great to work with and we look forward to visiting their restaurant again soon.

The food was okay, but we will never go back because of the TERRIBLE experience we had with Mikey and the management there. We rented the back room for my son's rehearsal dinner for $300 for two hours, and our guests purchased well over $1,000 in food and beverages. However, the server neglected to tell us that they charged us over $200 gratuity, so my husband added $275 gratuity to the credit card receipt when he signed it. When we got home and realized what happened, we called and explained the situation to the owner, and asked if he could give us a gift receipt for some of that duplicate charge (not even asking him to return the money to us). Mikey then emailed my son (on his honeymoon!) to threaten that we better just let them keep the nearly $500 gratuity or he would charge us an additional $500 because we were there an extra half an hour. During that last half hour, the room was open and other people came in and were served.
So, consider yourself warned: they will lie and cheat you out of your money, and then threaten you if you dare to ask for their cooperation to work out a compromise. The lack of business acumen and customer service is astounding. One star - do not recommend.
