I cannot say enough good things about Matthew and the team at Ripley Hospitality. Matthew is a chef's chef, and you can taste the care and attention he puts into every dish on his menu. We hired Ripley Hospitality to cater a buffet-style dinner for our 90-person wedding in Luray, VA in September 2026. From our first email exchange, Matthew helped us craft a menu we were excited about. A few months out, he even came to our house in Richmond to cook for us in our home kitchen so we could try the dishes before we served them to our guests. We were astonished by the quality of his cooking at the price point. On the day itself, Matthew was punctual, professional, and super independent—he handled everything for us and even cut our cake! Our guests were raving about the food at our wedding for days afterwards. We will be recommending Ripley to all our friends who are planning weddings in Central Virginia! Hire them and let them do their thing—you won't regret it.

I cannot say enough good things! This is my second time booking Chef Matthew and once again, he went above and beyond. We asked for vegetarian meals and what he prepared was fresh, inspired, delicious, healthy, and exactly what my group was looking for. He surprised us with bruschetta and guacamole for midday snacks and even ran out to get us firewood. He was on time, kept the kitchen clean, and helped make for a stress free retreat. 100% will book him again and recommend him to anyone looking for a private chef.

Chef Matthew was truly incredible. He communicated well, showed up on time every day, curated a wonderful menu for all 5 meals, and was also really friendly. He made our wedding next level, I would highly recommend Chef Matthew to anyone looking for a private chef for their event.

Matthew was one of the best parts, and decisions, of our wedding! From coordinating rentals, making the menus for every place setting, his help, guidance, and patience with all my questions (I think our email chain reached 100 emails!), his whole team’s interactions and with guests, setting up and serving, his suggestions on menu items to fit the vibe we were going for while still working within our budget, and accommodating any dietary restriction with ease, so much of the wedding stress was relieved with the help of the Ripley Hospitality crew. Our guests still talk about the amazing food (and Matthew himself), and our wedding was in May! If you need a caterer for your wedding, or any event, Evan and his team are your people! Can’t wait for us to host more events in the future so we can work with them again. Included a couple pictures from our wedding, not all of the apps/entrees are pictured. These guys are seriously awesome!
