We just received our sneak peek photos the other day, we couldn’t happier. Where do I begin?! I have followed Maren and Maren Kathleen photography on social media for 10+ years. When I was in high school, it was almost like a dream to have her photograph my wedding one day. Well it happened! I messaged her one day to see if she had any recommendations for Central Louisiana photographers because I knew she was in New York, and didn't know she would TRAVEL across the country! So then it began, we had some phone conversations and some emails. Honestly words can't describe how perfectly Maren and Stephen captured our wedding day! My husband and I had a microwedding with only immediate family. Maren and Stephen were able to capture the true essence, love, and energy that filled our day. Maren made us feel really comfortable and she was able to naturally capture our day. Maren was recommended to me when I found out 3 weeks before my wedding that I needed to find a new photographer! From her first email response I knew she would be great to work with! She was so understanding of my situation, and was able to work with me to find a photography package that fit my budget. She even was able to find a second shooter (Kateigh) with such short notice! Maren and Kateigh were both amazing to work with in person. Maren sent me sneak peek photos less than 2 weeks after the weeding and they were so beautiful! I cannot wait to see the rest of them! Maren is so kind and talented! At the beginning of covid she texted (mid-march) just to see how I was doing and to express her sympathy about COVID possibly ruining our wedding plans. She reached out to me before some family and friends did! She was there every step of the way from replanning 3 times to doing a 12 person ceremony this August. She's incredibly easy to work with and is reliable. And for a bonus, she takes great photo's!!

Choosing Maren as our photographer was one of the best decisions we have made! From the first phone call , I knew that Maren was the perfect fit for us. Her photography syle is exactly what we envisioned! We worked with Maren for both our engagement photos and wedding. My husband and I are high school sweethearts and had never had our photos taken until our engagement photos. Maren made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera. Leading up to the wedding, we met to talk about final details and you could see that Maren was so excited for our day and we could tell how passionate she is about her work. On our wedding day , Maren captured every detail right down to the midnight kiss on New Years and my sparkly sneakers. She remained calm all day and it kept us all at ease.
When we received our wedding gallery, it just took our breath away. It was everything that we had thought and more. Maren captured every moment and we are so grateful that we can cherish all of these memories.

Wow where do I begin. Not only did Maren do a wonderful job photographing our wedding and giving us a gift we’ll enjoy for years to come, but I felt like at the end of the process I gained a friend. Maren was so professional while still being a real person who wanted to capture real moments on our big day. I laughed and cried and couldn’t have asked for more incredible photos. She was there at all the right moments, but somehow I never saw her. Simply put Maren is the photographer everyone needs!!

We worked with Maren for both an engagement shoot as well as for the wedding itself, and like the title says, she was an absolute pleasure to work with! We both had so much fun during each event, and as Maren’s enthusiasm and enjoyment radiated out of her, we felt extremely enthused, too. Maren made us both feel at ease with being professionally photographed (something that neither of us have had much experience with); she really wanted to see how we interacted as a couple, and because of her direction, it almost made us feel like she wasn’t even there. The sessions felt more like the two of us were just enjoying one another’s company, and we were able to slip into our usual, candid, authentic selves. Maren was always complimenting us during the shoots as well, saying that she loved how we interacted with one another and how great we looked; this in turn gave us more confidence while we were in front of the camera, and also got us more excited during the process! She was open to any ideas we had for the photos, but she was also very helpful in coming up with a lot of unique ideas for us to do during the shoots themselves. For example, in our engagement shoot she helped us get some photographs on a swing set (something meaningful to the two of us), but also suggested that we do some action shots by having one of us run up behind the other and hug them, which generated some pretty funny (but also lovely and genuine!) photos. Similarly, during the wedding, she took some photos of us during golden hour like we requested, and also provided many different suggestions for photos (bride holding groom, running together at the camera while holding hands, etc.). We cannot overstate how fun she was to work with—as well as her assistant during the wedding—it was like working with a friend we had known for years, even though we had only met a couple times! Maren also made sure that all of the formal family/friend portraits we requested got taken and was excellent with time management during the photo sessions; her attention to detail was a huge help on our wedding day while we had a million other things to focus on.

As for the results, they were truly special. The turnaround time after the wedding was a little over two months, which wasn’t too long considering that it was peak wedding season and Maren had been photographing many other weddings in addition to ours. She provided us with probably close to a thousand different photos (!), all edited so professionally and perfectly, and we were so happy. After showing the photos to our family and friends, they also were very impressed with both the quality and quantity of Maren’s work! One of our favorites was taken in a room with some old fancy chairs, and at Maren’s suggestion, we posed with the bride sitting in the chair and the groom standing above it. The result was a photo that looks straight out of the Victorian era, yet simultaneously could be in a high fashion wedding magazine, and we love it!! We spent hours going through all of the photos from the wedding, reliving each moment as Maren and her assistant had really captured the energy of the day, with plenty of organized as well as candid photos to work with. We were amazed with literally EVERY moment they captured during the day—from us being all teary-eyed right after saying our vows and the officiant pronouncing us husband and wife, to the looks of admiration we were giving our speakers during their toasts, to us rocking the eff out during the reception dances—the entire day was there in our gallery delivery. Maren and her assistant were pros at being “flies on the wall” during the big wedding moments: unobtrusive but completely in each moment at the same time. We could not be happier with our choice, and would 100% recommend Maren to anybody who is looking for a wedding and engagement photographer. She is sweet, fun, professional, does fantastic work, and made us feel so thankful for working with her. We could not have made a better choice in hiring her. Maren was an absolute DREAM to work with. Photography was my #1 thing and as soon as we spoke to Maren over the phone I felt like she was the right choice. My (now) husband and I didn't even want engagement photos but since they came with the package, we did them and BOY are we glad we did. We had the most fun spending the day with Maren, and she even climbed up a mountain for us for her first time (--sorry Maren for nearly killing you). I thought the engagement photos were the best things in the whole world until our WEDDING DAY. She so perfectly captured our day, and the small moments during it.
