Most wedding photographers take photos of weddings. Mo does not. Mo tells stories.

What’s the difference? The difference is that you will not have just 10-20 highlight photographs that you love. Instead you will look through your gallery in awe at how each photo stands on its own. This is more impressive given that Mo shoots only film. Imagine being so good that you don’t edit in post, but simply nail 700+ shots that tell the full arc of a day. That was my gallery from Mo. Photo after photo capturing people as they are, moments as they were.

The difference is that you will tell Mo at your introductory meeting the feelings you want to capture in your wedding, and months down the road she will deliver to you a set of photographs that, impossibly, contain the energy you had aspired to. (These were, for us, as abstract as “gravitas and solemnity” “magical, ethereal, fairytale” “elegant”—and yet there these are, plain as day, in our photos.)

The difference is that Mo lets the story unfold while also crafting it. The photos will be your day, just more artfully told. Here are some concrete examples: most of the photos will be you and your loved ones, candid—but sometimes she’ll guide you to some improbably gorgeous shot and guide you—walk by here—ok--got it. She may tell your make up artist to make adjustments because you will otherwise look washed out in photos. (If so, she will be correct, as she was for me.) You worry your venue is tricky with shifting lighting, and she arrives a day early to scope out so she’ll get the best light the day-of. Your mom will say the chairs look better in the photos than they did in real life. And so on.

Mo is a storyteller whose language is photography. She is unparalleled in what she does. She is warm and lovely as a summer breeze, but absolutely ON on wedding day, where she becomes an artist in her element; a professional in her zone. Arguably insanely, I looked at 200+ photographers before finding Mo. I went through all the best-of lists, all the message boards, you name it. Now I have my gallery in hand and can say — I feel beyond lucky she was my photographer. May you also be so blessed!

One of the most important decisions you make in wedding planning is who is your photographer, and we made the best decision working with Mo. She has an impeccable eye for detail and she is so talented. She found a way to get the best shots while we were able to be present with each other and our guests. Three words: Mo was AWESOME! As a man, I wanted selfishly to not pay much for wedding extras that can get expensive such as flowers, photography, etc. Mo Davis was worth every penny.
