Mal du Pays Design is a luxe floral designer and cutflower grower based in Northampton, Massachusetts. Farmer-florist Emily Brennan is the owner and creative director. She specializes in "fine art flowers," creating beautiful, artistic floral designs for weddings and other special events. She carefully selects local and seasonal materials to nurture an aesthetic that’s soulful and natural. The business was established in 2017 when Emily estabished a petite, sustainable flower farm on Lake Warner in Hadley, MA. A lifelong lover of fragrance, she cultivates many fragrant flower crops which make an appearance in Mal du Pays floral designs.
Services Offered
Emily and her team will interpret and implement your wedding flower dreams. The process begins with drafting a floral design proposal that reflects your unique personality. Special attention will be given to every aesthetic detail: ceramic vessels, ribbons, and fragrance, to name a few. Full service design includes in-person or phone consultation, site visit, delivery, access
to rental pieces, and set-up. Emily and her team have experience designing bouquets, boutonnières, corsages, table arrangements, bud vases, chuppahs, altar decorations, wreaths, suspended installations, and more.

Emily is an Artist!
Emily is truly an artist! If you’re on the hunt for a florist who produces incredible work, loves to work with seasonal flowers, and will literally forage for trees to create a beautiful installation in your tent, then Emily of Mal du Pays is the one. We loved Emily’s work from the outset and felt strongly about letting her work with minimal input from us because we trusted that she would create something beautiful. And she absolutely did. The tables, the ceremonial flowers–including arbor and aisle runners–my bouquet, the boutonnieres and corsages, and so much more were absolutely gorgeous and added such beauty and elegance to our day. Emily was extremely easy to work with, and brought both calm and joy to our weekend. We even kept her florals for our Sunday Brunch (and they lasted extremely well), which extended the time that we all could all enjoy them.

Stunning Wedding Flowers
Emily is so incredibly talented, she made all my floral wedding dreams come true. She was so kind and always so responsive, she really helped me bring my wedding vision to life and I could not be more grateful or more happy with how it all turned out. I had my wedding this past September and so we went with a darker color scheme and it was STUNNING. My guests and even our wedding venue said that they were the most beautiful flowers they've ever seen. She grows all her own florals/greenery, so she can really customized to what your vision is. She'll help you figure out what flowers grow at what time of year and help you navigate different color pallets and textures. Thank you so much Emily for all your grace and patience and truly the most gorgeous flowers I have ever seen. Our wedding was everything I could have ever envisioned.

Beyond happy I chose Emily!
Words can't express how thankful I am to have had Emily as our wedding florist. Everything about our experience working with her was flawless, from our initial phone conversations to the final GORGEOUS products that were some of my favorite parts of an overall perfect day. On the day of the wedding when I walked into our venue and saw the flowers for the first time, my jaw fell to the floor. Emily managed to bring to life the exact vision I had in my head that I couldn't properly articulate. I'm so appreciative of her craftsmanship, talent and kindness through the whole process of working together, and I still consider it one of the best wedding decisions we made. Thank you, Emily!

Emily was such a joy to work with!
Emily was such a joy to work with! She was professional, kind, responsive and is truly an artist and master of her craft. She created the most beautiful bridal bouquet for me and an absolutely STUNNING arbor for our ceremony space. I spoke with Emily about wanting florals that would complement the natural fall colors and surroundings and boy did she deliver! Throughout our entire wedding planning process Emily went above and beyond in helping us both work within our budget and get memorable flowers that we will cherish forever.

Personal Service and Exceptional Execution
Working with Emily was a joy and a breeze. She took my few ideas and came back with an incredibly creative proposal with a clear vision that matched my own. She was quick to respond to emails and phone calls during the process and was incredibly professional the weekend of the event and executed all the floral arrangements on time and without any hiccups. She was very reasonably priced especially considering she used the freshest and most beautiful flowers that SHE GREW HERSELF!! Amazing! I've had so many guests compliment me on her flower arrangements, but I deserve no credit - it was all her! While her vase arrangements are gorgeous, she hit it out of the park on all the arrangements including some we asked her to do up telephone poles! I highly recommend Mal Du Pays Designs for your floral needs.

Memorable Flowers - for you and your guests
Six months before the wedding we discussed our color palette, size, shape of flowers and overall sense of style of our wedding. Mal Du Pays' sense of style, design, color theory is magical and Emily is extremely talented.
The palette included the following: Cream + blush focal flowers with ruby, garnet and fire-y orange accents. Seasonal Flowers emphasized were the following:
Cafe au Lait Dahlias
Zinderella Zinnias
Amaranthus
Asters
Rudbeckia
Along with beautiful accents of the wild: fountain grasses, and a beautiful accent of Scabiosa stellata.
The flowers are grown from the heart and words cannot express my gratitude for the invitation to love wildly and gracefully with these beautiful flowers adorning our ceremony and celebration.

Couldn't Recomend More
Emily did such an amazing job with our wedding flowers, so amazing in fact that that receiving my bouquet was one of the most emotional parts of my wedding morning, that's how beautiful it was! From the first consult I knew that she took every aspect of flowers very seriously, and her measured, considered approach guided us gracefully through all the decisions we didn't even know we needed to make (welcome to planning a wedding)! The concept, color, and flower choice was also great and collaborative, and I felt that my vision was not only understood, but executed even better than I could have ever imagined. We had an 11th hour location change at the venue due to weather, and she was totally flexible and able to go with the flow and convert our planned outdoor arch into an indoor. The design, execution, color, and sheer joy and delight of the flowers that Mal du Pays / Emily did for our wedding blew not only us but our wedding guests away. We had as local of a wedding as possible, and that the majority of her flowers were grown by her in her garden was not only so special, but really supported that wish for our special day. Couldn't recommend more :)
