Mack's Catering was wonderful! I'm so happy with our choice to go with them! Deb was fabulous and so easy to work with. I love that their information on their website was really straightforward. We knew exactly what we were paying for, with no hidden costs. We got a ton of compliments on our food. We wanted a laid-back cookout and Mack's delivered! They were also some of the nicest people!! I can't say enough about how kind and pleasant these ladies were! If I had to do it all over again, I would absolutely still work with Mack's!

We were lucky enough to work with Mack’s Catering for our wedding on 5/26/18. They were phenomenal to work with every step of the way. Deb was always a great communicator, and stayed in constant contact, also doing a great job of making recommendations without being pushy. They were also super flexible, offering us a tasting, and agreeing to take the job even though it involved a longer than normal commute for them.

On the day of, Mack’s staff was phenomenal. Great job setting up, great job being available if needed and handling their business so we could enjoy our day. The waitstaff was friendly and helpful, and never intrusive. The bar staff was the same, and quite a few guests mentioned how they enjoyed the quality of the drinks. Service aside, the food was FANTASTIC. We loved everything we had, and guest after guest mentioned how much they loved the appetizers and the entrees. We really couldn’t have asked for more.

I knew right away that I wanted REAL food for my wedding. I also knew I wanted barbecue because, who doesn't love a good barbecue? At our tasting in January we were hooked. Mack's made us feel right at home, to not be shy and to just enjoy ourselves ( we cancelled all other tastings before even leaving). Everything was cooked to perfection, and all done on site. Our guests could not get enough of everything, there wasn't a crowd favorite because they all raved about everything on the traditional barbecue menu. The only thing I wished is that I was getting married again this week just for this food! Mack's catering values the client and really brought a great experience that anyone would enjoy.

We used Mack's Catering for our wedding and it was delicious! We had more casual fare with BBQ, but it was a hit with all our guests -- especially the mac & cheese and the ribs. Nikki from Mack's was wonderful to work with. She was understanding of our needs and helped us think through our menu and service. We also used Mack's for bartending, and they were fantastic! We are so happy with how everything turned out and we recommend them for anyone looking for a caterer.

Mack's catering was absolutely fantastic! They catered both our rehearsal dinner and our wedding.
For our rehearsal dinner we had about 30 people in our backyard. Russ the owner came and cooked lobsters, steamers, and clam fritters for us! The chowder was fantastic!! Everyone absolutely loved dinner.
For our wedding we did bbq for about 115 people and they nailed it! Our guests were raving just during cocktail hour! Then after dinner I had so many people tell me the food was out of this world. The staff was so attentive and friendly. And everyone worked so well together. Deb, the catering manager was great. She assured me everything would go smoothly and she was right. I also have a TON of leftovers!! Russ does an amazing job with his food andI would hire them for ANY event I did, they are the best!!

I booked this vendor over a year before our wedding. We had an in person tasting and thought it went really well. Talked details about location, timing, china choices ect. and put down a $500 deposit. We had MULTIPLE meetings since over the phone to fine tune details. Each time I asked if there was anything I needed to look out for or if they had any questions for me. They always told me everything was all set and that there were no questions from their end. Fast forward one month before the wedding… I contact Mack’s Catering to check in to make sure everything is all set. On this call I’m told that they FORGOT to put our wedding on their calendar. Then they booked two other weddings on the same day after we had already secured the deposit over a year ago. (I know this because when we had the initial meeting I asked if anyone else was booked for our date and they said we were the only ones). We had so many meetings and I mentioned each time the date to make sure nothing got lost in translation. This is completely inexcusable as a professional catering company.

The scariest thing is, if I hadn’t called in to check in, I would have arrived to my wedding and there would have been no catering at all. If I didn’t check in, I would have had 125 unfed guests and the event would have been ruined.

Mack’s Catering offered us the following options:
1. We find someone else to cater and send us back the deposit
2. They can bring some food but we would need to rent equipment for them including dishes, glasses, etc.
Option 2 was not possible for us with how booked every rental service was at this point. I was broken up about it. This was a complete nightmare. They were very cold considering the amount of emotional turmoil this caused us. Catering for me, was one of the pillars of the event. I was devastated and desperate at this point.

So now I’m a month out, I have no caterer and everyone else is either booked or has upped their pricing. I lost $10,000 to fix their mess up. There was only one caterer who could assist us at this point. We were out of options. Luckily, the caterer I got saved the day with their good food. And I told them about the situation and they comforted me and told me in all their years in the wedding business that they have, and I quote, “never heard of such a terrible situation with catering.” Everyone I told about this responded similarly.

(Don’t worry about me, the wedding itself was absolutely perfect. Dream wedding!)

I’m just posting this to warn other couples. I hope no one has to go through what we went through with Mack’s Catering.
