I had a great experience with Luyi. She was very flexible on working with my ideas and working on a time that worked best for me. She was quick to reply to any messages and open to chatting on the phone when needed. She took amazing photos that my fiance loved. She was also quick in returning our edited photos. 10/10 would recommend to anyone needing a great photographer.

As an event planner myself and a wardrobe stylist and working with LUYI Zhao, she is one of the best photographers in San Diego, she’s not only done our couples sessions but also our family. She’s very versatile and just amazing at capturing moments she has a style that’s just in way very exemplary that she’s able to just make everyone in my family look so amazing in photos I believe she captures the best moments just when you know she’s the right photographer for you! Luyi is a very talented photographer that is passionate about what she does. She is friendly and relaxed to be with and helpful with posing me and my fiancee. She is adventurous and will try anything to get the perfect shot, we had a great time together with her in Vegas. Her prices are very reasonable and I look forward to working with her in the future. Also, her pictures of new born photography are adorable as well.

Not only is she talented in her editing, but her eye for lighting and scenery are spot on. During the shoot, she showed my partner and I photos she had taken of us on her camera, and we were both surprised at how stunning they looked without editing.

Even if you are not entirely sure about what you want for your wedding or engagement pictures, Luyi provides great suggestions for beautiful nearby locations. We wanted something out in nature, and she suggested Lake Cuyamaca. Neither of us had been there before, but we LOVED the autumn colors and serenity of the lake; it was perfect! She also knew of an unfinished landmark near the lake that looks much like Knapp's Castle, which was a great spot for beautiful photography.

My man isn't too big on taking photos because he's not the most comfortable in front of a camera, but Luyi made sure he felt at ease during the process. That way, in the photos, he would also appear genuine and comfortable which, in turn, made for authentic shots of our relationship! She has a fun sense of humor and is so friendly, you're guaranteed to have a good time while shooting with her. Highly recommend!

Luyi is amazing! We have used her for our engagement photos and our newborn photos. She is incredibly responsive, prices great and a great photographer. If necessary her Photoshop skills are supurb as well.

It’s been a year since our wedding and I feel like I can finally write a review on Luyi’s photography services. Although she is a sweet person, I am honestly very disappointed. Looking back there were several moments that make me regret hiring her to be my wedding photographer.

One, we agreed that her hours would be 1pm - 9pm. I wrote it in emails and told it to her over the phone multiple times but for some reason she kept saying she’d be there 12:00p - 8:00pm. And even though I kept correcting her, she ended up showing up at 12:00pm on my wedding day.

Two, I gave her a Word doc of shots I wanted plus example photos. She did not follow it. I wanted a picture of the groom’s reaction when I walked down the aisle, didn’t do it. I wanted individual pictures of me and my bridesmaids, didn’t do it. I wanted portrait photos of me in my rehearsal dress, didn’t do it. I understand I should’ve reminded her but at the same time, I am overwhelmed on my wedding day. Also she is the professional and should’ve known the typical shot lists AND I gave her everything I wanted but she still didn’t follow it.

Three, although a nice person, she didn’t know how to handle a big bridal party. We had 8 on each side and when we did bridal party photos, she would take candids but wouldn’t pose us. We were all like “what do you want us to do?” So embarrassing and frustrating and the bridal party photos turned out terrible.

Four, the photos weren’t that bad but she did not take the time and effort to edit them. I follow other photographers that my friends used for their weddings and they post how much they edit. Based on my photos, she didn’t do any. There was one beautiful picture of us at the church but it’s ruined because a random couple was in the background. She really couldn’t photoshop them out?! I ended up photoshopping it myself on my iPhone. So sad.

Overall I’m upset I don’t have the best photos of my wedding and I actually hired another photographer for our 1 year anniversary to make up for it. Luyi does amazing work but I would pass on her for a wedding.
