Lucky 8 Ranch is a private Colorado wedding venue set on a 3,000-acre working bison ranch about 35 minutes from Steamboat Springs. Picture wide-open valleys, mountain silhouettes in every direction, and a celebration that feels more like a long weekend away with your favorite people than a “production.” That’s the experience couples come here for.

Family-owned and operated since 2014, the ranch is home to a herd of American bison and a small, dedicated team that genuinely cares about each event. Lucky 8 hosts a limited number of weddings each season—and only one event per week—your day never has to share space, views, or attention with another party. It’s your own private corner of Colorado for the weekend.

Couples are often drawn here for the scenery, but stay for the feeling: calm, unhurried, and deeply connected. From the moment guests step off the shuttle, they’re greeted by big sky, fresh air, and that “we made it” exhale that sets the tone for the entire celebration.

Facilities & Capacity

Ceremonies take place outdoors with sweeping views of the surrounding hills and mountains.

Receptions are hosted in a spacious, high-peak event tent with a concrete floor and dancefloor for dancing, designer-style lighting, and an adjacent lawn for golden-hour cocktails and lawn games. The layout is intentionally flexible so you can keep things simple and nature-forward or lean into a more elevated, modern design.

Lucky 8 Ranch couldn’t have been better!

Our wedding at Lucky 8 Ranch was amazing - we had ~150 guests, with almost everyone traveling from out of state. We were so satisfied with our decision to have the reception at Lucky 8, when we drove up and saw everything set up we knew it was the right choice. We decided on Lucky 8 after a few phone calls with the owner Nick, looking over photos, and reviewing the packages. There wasn’t any other venue that came close to matching the scenery, seclusion, location, convenience, and price point. It’s great that L8R offers different packages depending on what you want for your wedding. They provided an inventory of items to use including easels, LED light candles, and various other items for decoration and it looked beautiful.
We took multiple visits to the ranch and saw it with and without the tent setup - bringing family and our coordinator to make sure everything was planned out. Nick and his staff were fantastic throughout the planning process, and his experience was helpful for selecting vendors in the Steamboat area. One of the best parts about working with L8R is the ease of communication and flexibility. You’re working directly with them and they make you feel like family.
The location of the ranch was just right for us - it was super easy to get to & from Steamboat (it took our buses less than 30 min) but it’s secluded and private. The ranch is huge, so you’re not disturbed by anything going on around.
On the day of our wedding, Nick and the staff were fantastic. The setup was great and they make it very special - all couples who have a wedding at L8R get to brand their initials in the fence. The weather was great (late July) and all of our guests loved hanging out in the yard. No one expected how beautiful it would be. The sunset was gorgeous, and all of our guests gawked at the beauty. They still talk about it to this day.
We took a sunset photo trip on the side by side and got some incredible photos. We found the bison herd by the Aspen grove which made for some really cool shots.
Overall, we would recommend Lucky 8 to anyone looking to get married in the Steamboat area. We hope that more couples keep making memories at L8R with their families and friends.

The Wedding of Our Dreams

In July 2024, we had our wedding reception at Lucky 8 Ranch, and we can't say enough good things about our experience! When we first toured the venue shortly after getting engaged, we immediately knew that this would be our dream wedding location. We toured other venues in the greater Steamboat area too, but Lucky 8 stood out to us. Not only is the ranch absolutely stunning, but the folks who work there are very kind, caring, and hardworking. This proved to be the case even more-so as Nick offered a great deal of hand-holding throughout the entire planning process, and went above and beyond to ensure our day went smoothly. My family primarily traveled from the NJ/NY area, and my husband's from ND, SD, MN and NE. We really wanted to offer our guests a Western experience, and the stunning mountain views, beautifully decorated tent, and even an unexpected afternoon thunderstorm (which was handled so gracefully by Nick and his staff!) was the perfect way to show our guests what Colorado is all about. Thank you, Lucky 8, for making our dream wedding come true!

Beautiful Ranch Wedding Venue Near Steamobat

Lucky 8 Ranch was the perfect choice for our Steamboat wedding. We wanted a mountain/western, outdoor vibe, and we couldn't have found a better place for it. Nick and the Lucky 8 team were great to work with and super flexible in helping us bring our vision to life. They have a large inventory of furniture and decor to choose from, which made it easy to create the event and look we wanted, and they executed it perfectly. The venue itself is beautiful—amazing views, bison roaming nearby, and a fun lawn for cocktail hour, and a nice tent that they can set up however you like. It did take some extra work to find and coordinate all of the 3rd-party vendors needed, but it was worth it and Nick was willing to provide recommendations and answer any questions throughout the process. Highly recommend this place!

The Premier Steamboat Springs Wedding Experience

Lucky 8 Ranch should consistently be the first venue that people who wish to get married in Steamboat, and experience Colorado the right way, should be using.

Nick and his wife, besides being excellent hosts, are the most genuine people who made our special day feel like it was one of a kind and not just another day for them. They helped us throughout the process, and their knowledge and respect for the land allowed us to have full access to L8R for our wedding.

The venue itself is picturesque with views of Sleeping Giant, rolling hills, bison (up close and personal if you’re lucky), and gorgeous sunsets. Nick helped us get incredible sunset pictures.

If you’re looking for a smooth and memorable experience while getting Colorado to the fullest, this is your spot!

Mountain Magic

We couldn't be more happy with our decision to have our wedding at Lucky 8. The ranch, view, and surrounding area are stunning (at any time of year). Nick, Emily, and the rest of the staff we're the best vendors we worked for our big day. They are easy to work with, very accommodating, knowledgable, and very hard working.

The quality of the amenities provided, from the tent to the restrooms to the bars, is top notch. Lucky 8 has an incredible amount of decorations, furniture, games, and more that you can choose from to really make the venue your own. Nick has some features that we could not find anywhere else, that truly made our day so perfect (horse drawn carriage for our ceremony exit).

While we had some weather before the ceremony, the staff at Lucky 8 was quick to adapt and ensure everything went smoothly.

They even have some very special and memorable things for the bride and groom to do on their big day that brand their love at the ranch forever.

Unreal Wedding Venue in Colorado!

Lucky 8 Ranch was the PERFECT place for our wedding. The staff there was absolutely incredible. So flexible and willing to help us curate our dream day. The ranch has the best views in all of Steamboat and our family and friends are still talking about how magical the day was. You cannot go wrong having your wedding here!

Nothing short of PERFECT!

Our wedding at Lucky 8 Ranch was nothing short of perfect! If you're looking for a unique, secluded, Colorado mountain wedding experience for a great price -- THIS IS IT. To break it down:

Location: Lucky 8 is a quick 20-minute shuttle ride from Steamboat Springs. The perfect destination wedding town for guests! The scenery is everything you'd want for a Colorado mountain wedding -- mountains, aspen trees, tall grass, and bison!

Inclusions: It is INSANE how much is included with this venue -- nothing that we had ever seen before! From the simple things to string lights, chairs, tables, decor, cocktail tables, etc. -- to some of the most unique items like a motorcycle bar, carriage, 1940s pick-up trucks... the list goes on!

Staff: Nick and team were responsive, helpful, and provided white-glove service to us. They were open to all our different ideas and so flexible.

If you're considering Lucky 8 for a venue, this is your sign: DO IT!

The Most Perfect Wedding Venue!

Having our wedding at Lucky 8 Ranch was nothing short of magical. We lucked out with the best weather and our guests are still talking about how beautiful it was. The views from the ceremony site are unreal! Keith and Nick were so awesome to work with and they made sure everything was absolutely perfect. It honestly exceeded every expectation we had for the day. Lucky 8 is a truly special venue and we can't recommend them enough.

Best Wedding we could've ever wished for!

We just had our wedding up at the Lucky 8 Ranch this summer, and my goodness, Nick, Keith, and the entire Lucky 8 staff went above and beyond to make sure we had the best day ever. From their responsiveness throughout the entire planning process, to their flexibility with changes, and all of their efforts to ensure our needs were met were absolutely spectacular. We could not recommend enough for anyone who is looking for a unique and absolutely gorgeous ranch style wedding - do it here! They truly made it not just a typical wedding for us, but an entire experience from start to finish for ourselves as well as friends and family. We can't thank them enough and will absolutely be back in the future for some more adventures!
