This was a beautiful venue and perfect for our wedding. Your family and friends from out of town can see a hotel banquet room in their own town. This allowed our out of town family and friends to see how beautiful our city is and provided a great backdrop for our wedding. The staff was nice, accommodating and flexible. Which helped to pull together our DIY wedding. We wanted a DIY wedding to keep costs down. Beware if considering DIY. it is easy to spend what you could have spent with a full service location. We ensured that our vendors were familiar with the location to make it easy, the building setup has some things to consider for deliveries (narrow walkway/dock & entrance stairs) and amplifying sound on the dock (wireless microphones and staging speakers for ceremony music etc.).
Better for 100 or less guests, capacity is 140, but the guests will be standing mostly. I had about 90 guests and it was pretty full with people and tables. Perfect for me, it felt intimate and cozy. The ceremony was on the dock, which worked fine for almost 100 standing guests (no furniture etc) Careful not to crowd together or dock sinks a bit and your toes get wet. It was more funny than an inconvenience. Just par for the course. :-)
Note that you can charter the place as a "vessel/boat". I did not, but it is a cool option. A movable houseboat! Book early, dates go fast, we booked almost a year in advance in a down economy. We had our choice of dates, but had we waited any longer that might not have been the case.

W arrived via a friend's boat and were greeted by our adoring guests from yhe dock and upper balcony. Out of town guests, and really everybody, enjoyed being on the lake, the view and the sunset. Our experience w luc staff was that they were nice, v accomodating, and efficient. They helped with everything we needed and have great recs about other vendors to work with. I love the feel of their big room and it was just the right size.

The staff at LUC were wonderfully kind and gracious! We were so pleased with our event as were our guests. A couple of drawbacks: hosting our ceremony of 100 people on the dock...it sank into the water by about 2-3 inches and it was a 90 degree day so there was a lot of traffic on the lake so we were pelted with a big wave right as th ceremony started. We are boaters so we loved it and all of our guests have said it was so memorable. Just be warned if you dont want to get your dress wet or have your guests standing in water this is not the place for you. If you dont care do send out a heads up with your invites so guests know how to dress and not to wear expensive shoes (thank god my weddingshoes were only $65!!! I almost splurged on a pair of Jimmy Choos :) Second, the stairs are steep so one of our older guests was not able tpo make it up to the reception, also going up and down the aluminum plaform in heels and a wedding dess proved to be tough...make sure you have the groomsmen help the girls out so you dont have any slips! Other than that we loved the setting and had a blast taking photos in the practice rowing area and the boat storage room. Also, you can hire your own caterer and bring in your alcohol so great cost saver!!!!!

It was a lovely spot for our ceremony and reception. I really wanted a space that was relaxed and was on the water but still felt formal enough for a nice wedding. Everyone thought the place was beautiful and easy to find. The people who work there are really nice and flexiable and you don't any pressure. I asked if I could do things like come early and set up flowers and they didn't charge me to do which was fantastic.

We first met Gwynedd (Event Coordinator) back in early 2011 to review the venue space for a wedding and reception. She went over the options and we decided to book for an August, 2012 date. Gwynedd had promised us in writing that she would accommodate us by lighting all of the candles throughout the venue dimming the reception lights and playing a few songs on the the ipod.

In February of 2012 Gwynedd e-mailed us stating that she was leaving
and Melinda was taking over. This is where the nightmare started.
Melinda is rude, unprofessional and unpleasant to work with. She would
not honor any of the requests that were in writing from Gwynedd,
therefore we had to a hirer a day of wedding coordinator. We had an
appointment to try our slide show with Melinda a few weeks before the
wedding and when we showed up, she said "I can't help you guys". We
spent an hour in traffic and no call, e-mail or anything. She said
there was an event that ran over. We then walked out and never got to
try the slideshow.

Day of wedding: We showed up and Melinda was nowhere to be seen.
Another gentlemen (David) was there that day instead which we had
never seen or spoke to before. There was no backup computer and no
sign of Melinda all day. It took over an hour to figure out the
slideshow using their projector. Wedding and reception went good. End
of the night we did the walk through check list with David. He stated
everything was good and we would get our deposit back. 3 weeks later, No deposit, she said there was some food on the wall.

I would stay away from this venue. It might seem like a good deal, but
it is not worth the headache at the end dealing with Melinda who is a
pain to work with.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
