About

SUNLIGHT. THE PERFECT WEDDING ELEMENT.

Welcome. Thank you for wanting to know more about Kuhs Estate and Farm private event space. We’re so pleased that you do.

If you’re engaged, newly or not, ‘Congratulations to you both’.

Whether we meet, or your story unfolds elsewhere, we wish you great happiness on your journey together.

Planning a wedding is a wonderful experience. Much like life, it should involve people who truly care about you, are like-minded, who understand and empathize with you, whom you admire and feel comfortable collaborating with, and who, when really needed, have the integrity and the sincere desire to lift you up and help you shine.

“Come on…are you serious?” you say, and our answer is “Yes. Yes we are”.

There is a great difference between what you do for a job and what you do for love, and the simple truth is that what we do and how we do it isn’t a job. We are not venue owners or investors far removed from daily operations, or catering managers or event coordinators who switch venues like musical chairs. We are owners, operators, managers and inhabitants and we are absolutely an integral part of every event.

From touring, planning, delivery and set up, to event execution and personally greeting and welcoming your guests, we are on site, helping out and answering questions until the very last person has left. This is a labor of love and it shows. We are dedicated to our land and what it has to offer as an exclusive private property that is never open to the public. Many venues do double duty as a space open to the public while also hosting you and your guests. That is not what we do. Your event is the ONLY event on your day and that makes it tremendously intimate and special.

Our 150 acre estate and farm has been in our family for a century. On the other days of the week it is a real working farm with animals and the things we grow throughout the year. It is our work, our passion and piece of heaven that we truly cherish.

Since the first wedding we have photos of in 1931, we have been home to unforgettable events, special occasions and celebrations. We are blessed to work with clients who more often than not, become friends. We aren’t simply a ‘venue’ for the day; we are a gateway to a story that doesn’t really end.

Our clients are always welcome back and some return to plant a tree for their day, or come back for anniversary pictures, baby bump pictures, family picnics, holiday and even volunteering and farm life. Some have fallen so in love with the farm that they bought houses next door, have moved to the farm and now also call it home, or spend their free time here enjoying farm life, animals, horseback riding or whatever interests them on their weekends. Some even come back to help with other weddings. The connections and friendships we make mean a great deal to us and our sincere welcome is for the many years to come so that we may watch their lives further intertwine and grown. It doesn't feel right to get to know people so closely while helping them plan for the best day of their lives, then turn it off because the day is ended. It is a doorway we want to leave open.

Each day we wake up to see the sun rise over The Confluence of the mighty Missouri and Mississippi, and we are reverent of what a symbol it is for not only our city, but our region as well. We can't help feel that weddings also are a great confluence of forces that merge and become something even greater than before.

As you look around at all the choices you have; locations near and far, urban and rural, elegant and simple, we want you to select the spot where you picture your life beginning together. Yes, even if it is not with us. You deserve to be as happy as you possibly can be. We believe we offer something unique and rare that cannot be found anywhere else. It's the most perfect spot in our world and maybe it's the perfect spot where your story as husband and wife begins. We'll let YOU be the judge, and we look forward to meeting you!

The BEST venue

Words cannot describe our gratitude and love towards Kuhs Farm, Elizabeth, Nick and family. Our wedding at Kuhs was absolutely perfect and full of so much love and happiness! Elizabeth and Nick were exceptionally helpful from the moment we met. They felt like family friends we had known forever, and they welcomed us into their Kuhs family with open arms! Elizabeth is so organized and makes planning a wedding (even during Covid) an absolute dream. I never once felt stressed about the planning aspect because she was there to help guide me every step of the way. Elizabeth and Nick go above and beyond for every wedding, and ours was no exception. Every single detail was beyond what we could have even imagined. Their farm is absolutely stunning at any time of the year. Their care and support for us and everyone else is astounding. They followed the county’s covid guidelines and made sure everyone felt safe during this strange time, and they also made sure everyone felt the love and excitement of our wedding! If I had to plan another wedding during a pandemic I would plan it with them at their venue. If I had to plan a wedding not during a pandemic I would plan it with them at their venue. Bottom line, I would choose them again and again as our wedding venue. Everything was absolutely perfect that day thanks to them. Everyone who attended our wedding has not stopped talking about how breathtakingly beautiful and amazing Kuhs Farm was!! I recommend this venue to anyone and everyone looking for the most perfect, unique venue. Much love to Elizabeth, Nick, and the rest of Kuhs family!

Perfect team, perfect venue, perfect day!

This is hands down the best wedding venue in St. Louis. The event team and the owner of the property handle everything with amazing attention to detail and great passion for what they do. Providing amazing service and a quality relationship is something they do best - make each couples special day a perfect one to remember. I had no idea what I was doing in terms of planning a wedding and not only did she embrace my ideas - but she was there to help every step of the way and give quality advice. The vendors they work with are the best in the area and have had to prove themselves to make it onto the list. I have attended several weddings there since my own and can confidently leave a review like this one.

We got married at Kuhs this past August, and they were nothing short of amazing from our first site visit a little over a year ago, to our wedding departure the evening of our big day. So much personal attention to detail. We were absolutely amazed to see it all set up and in place when we arrived that day. So thankful that we choose Kuhs Farm. Strongly recommended by us. Thanks Again

This is hands down the most beautiful and magical place for a wedding in the St. Louis area(the sunken rock garden is my favorite). Elizabeth and the whole staff at Kuhs bent over backwards to make sure our day was special and unique. We went in with some ideas of our own but no clue on how to execute them. Elizabeth not only made sure the ideas came to life but also had some great suggestions of her own. We could not have pulled it off without her or the staff. Thank you Kuhs!!!

Recently took an engagement client out to Kuhs Estate & Farm for their photos. There's nothing bad to say about this location....its a hidden gem and beyond beautiful. The owner was kind enough to give me a tour of the property prior to my clients arriving and was extremely helpful and kind. I'd highly recommend this location to any bride looking for a peaceful and tranquil wedding venue! Not to mention its a gem of a location for a photographer!

My wedding was held on the Estate side of Kuhs Farm. Liz, the owner, is a pleasure to work with. She's passionate about keeping the farm beautiful day after day. The land overlooking the Missouri River is just gorgeous. Liz also has a side business for vintage-chic rental furniture. She has collected some really cute, unique pieces that are available for you to rent for your wedding. (I took advantage of it and all the pieces were lovely!) She's so professional and she really wants to please you. If you don't mind the drive, it is such a scenic place to get married. I totally recommend.

Kuhs Estate was the perfect venue for our ceremony and reception. When my fiance (now husband) and I set out to find a wedding venue we knew we wanted something rustic with a lot of natural beauty. We initially looked at a few wineries and barns in the St. Louis area but felt that those venues were lacking in authenticity. Then we visited Kuhs. We knew right away that we wanted to have our wedding at Kuhs - it is the real deal. The estate and farm are tucked away in Spanish Lake with gorgeous views on the estate side overlooking the bluffs; the entire property is completely picturesque. The property has been in Elizabeth's, the owner, family for years and you can tell that she completely adores the property itself and helping people to have their dream event happen on the property.

We also rented some gorgeous vintage pieces from Liz's company, Vintage for the Day, for the wedding and could not have loved them more. Liz also offers custom vintage designs that are stunning. Liz and Renee were a pleasure to work with and truly care about the events they host at Kuhs. We highly recommend this venue!

Our wedding at Kuhs Farm was absolutely perfect. The owner and staff couldn't have been nicer, more accommodating, planful, and kind. At every turn they bent over backwards to make our wedding day special and spent the better part of a year helping us plan it.

They met with us at least a handful of times, each time walking us patiently through all the possibilities. They recommended great vendors and on the day of, when one didn't show up on time, rather than bother us, they went above and beyond to call them and get it straightened out on our behalf.

The contract does say that the venue can be booked on the alternative days of the weekend: for us that would have been a Friday or Sunday. Although this wasn't the case for our wedding, we were well aware that it was possibility. We chose Kuhs because unlike other venues where you have 2 or 4 hours allocated for set up time, we had ALL day (13 hours)! That's virtually unheard of.

The owner was great! She was overly generous and always asking how she could support us in having the best day possible. The day of the wedding she was armed with a huge group of staff and volunteers to ensure everything was clean and organized. We got married on the bluffs, had our cocktail hour under the tree, and our reception under the stars.

We knew what we wanted when we chose Kuhs Farm, somewhere with heart and that's exactly what we got. The Barn was built more than 100 years ago, it is charming, beautiful, and was just what we wanted as a backdrop to the recpetion. It is a working farm, but everything smelled amazing - like flowers, was clean and well organized, and who gets to take pictures overlooking a river, in sunken gardens, next to a 200 year old oak, in a historical dairy barn, and with the baby animals?!?

These people live and breathe this magical place. They gave us the best day of our lives. We couldn't recommend Kuhs Farm more.

Elizabeth, I cant even believe you right now. The last time we met was February 16, HOURS before my dad passed. A week later when I thought I was half ready to talk about my loss with you, you seemed to care. You said you’d help, and that if no one got the day we could work something out. Since then you haven’t returned a single email. I understand the contract, but as it is your property I dont understand why exceptions can’t be made in certain circumstances... which is what YOU told me when we last talked. Exceptions could be made. You’ve made this entire experience one I wish I could never remember. Every time I said what I wanted you made me feel like that wasn’t enough, like my ideas were stupid and like I was little. The day before he passed I left your place calling him in tears because there was no way to afford everything you said I needed. That day he told me to not worry about it, and he’d do anything to make me happy. I wish not I was never dumb enough to allow my family to extend themselves to accommodate what you made me feel like I need to have a pretty wedding. I was naive to think that that’s what a wedding was about. You’ve taken a gift you’ve been given from a happy day about love, family, togetherness and turned it inside out. I wish I never lost sight of what was important to me because of you. I’m sure these other reviews of you being so accommodating are true, for people with 25k+ budgets. Which I told you I didn’t have from the very beginning. You’ve taken a Day that’s suppose to be about love and happiness and turned it into stress and worry and debt. I dreamed of my wedding on a property as beautiful as yours but I never imagined you’d be so rude or not worthy of your word. I cried to you in the phone for over an hour that day. I now see your intentions were to never console or help. You have several reviews on several sites saying the same, you make people who can’t afford everything feel bad about it. I’m heartbroken.

I chose this venue solely because of its barn. An issue with county regulations barred me from using it and I wasn't informed of this until 30 days before my wedding, despite a Post Dispatch report dated Aug 31 that the venue's owner knew of these problems 5 months before (we ended up using a tent). Conversations with the owner were difficult- when I asked why my contract and invoice listed 2 different due dates for final payment I was accused of "picking a fight" with the owner, who said that doing so would leave me "feeling sh***y". The morning of my wedding family and friends arrived at Kuhs Farm to set up. They found the venue employees smelling like alcohol at 10:30am; employees also dropped cigarette butts on the floor of the event space which we had to pick up to avoid a damages charge, per the contract. Family heard the venue owner stating that although there were rental items I "didn't want" she would "set them out anyway" so that I could be charged for them- these charges were reflected in my final invoice. When I arrived that afternoon there were mason jars with liquor around the property, within easy reach of the young children in our family. Guests commented that employees were seen throughout the event drinking inside the barn I wasn't allowed to use. We rented a golf cart to help elderly guests- we were told it had to be driven by farm employees but after dinner no one was available, leaving my 86 year old grandmother and disabled uncle walking up a 50 yard hill in the dark. We set up an iPad as a photo booth- at cocktail hour farm employees used the iPad to take pictures (which they didn't delete); afterwards it ran out of battery mid-event, leaving guests unable to use it. After my wedding the venue owner emailed me asking why I hadn't contacted her to say how great the day was, then made posts on her public facebook page slamming the wedding & calling for "the mason jars to be restocked". Unprofessional & clueless about business ethics.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
