Disengaged, Lack Professionalism, Not Timely
I had high hopes for this Vendor, but a lack of professionalism, responsiveness, and ultimately poor quality of deliverables led to this review.
Why do I not recommend this Vendor?
We were told we would be delivered three reels and the vendor sent us examples. The examples looked great, but the ensuing experience was less than stellar and content quality was poor.
Content Quality:
Reel 1 - Great reel. It was fantastic and unique.
Reel 2 - Reused 30% of content from reel 1. Poor transitions / video clipping. Perceived as minimal effort. (this is an opinoin)
Reel 3 - In my opinion, this is not a reel. Literally just two videos, transitioning one to the other halfway through.
Communication and Professionalism:
During the wedding, the videographer / co-owner and I chatted very positively. There were some delays, and he agreed to stay longer than contracted. He said he would do this for free. I pushed back and said I would pay, but Vendor never followed up (I highlighted this because the Vendor could respond saying ‘we gave them 1.5 hours for free’). He said verbatim “You guys are some of the easiest people we have worked with.”
After the ceremony, and our initial text exchange (which I started), the Vendor went completely silent. After being politely persistent for a month, Vendor was short and negative in tone in her response after 30 days of not responding. After the final delivery of the contracted work (which I personally don’t feel like was lived up to), I told her we were unsatisfied and would be fine with simply re-doing the second reel. She immediately replied saying the contract is complete and stated she’s “never been harassed by as a couple as much as you.”
Below are the receipts of engagement. I will leave it to the reader to determine if the engagement on our end was inappropriate, given Vendor hadn’t responded to us for over a month.
Timeline:
April 20th - Wedding
April 22nd & 23rd - Mutual text thanking for the event and wondering when first real was going to be delivered (as in our conversations it was stated that would be shorlty after wedding)
April 25 - First reel delivered by Vendor
May 7th - Email requesting timeline: “Hi XXXX, Hope you’re doing well. I was curious as to when we should expect to receive the remaing videos. Thanks!”
May 10th - Text highlighting I sent an email earlier in the week (her preferred method) and hadn’t heard back. Simple ask of timeline of videos
May 15th - Email requesting timeline “Hi XXXX, Just following up on this. When shoudl we expect the rest of the material? Thank you!”
May 21st - Text again highlighting i hadn’t heard back from now two emails, and simply trying to understand timeframe. Only 1 or 3 deliverables have been sent. Tried calling as well.
May 22nd - Reach out to the videographer / co-owener saying we haven’t heard back yet, are empathetic to things popping up, and are simply trying to understand timelines (text and call)
May 30th - Emailed as we hadn’t heard anything since April 25th. “Hi XXX, We haven’t heard anything in a few weeks. Can you please update us? Thank you”
May 31st - Reach out to the videographer / co-owner again as I haven’t heard. please and thank you always used and highlight we haven’t heard anything back from either of them. (text and call)
May 31st - Vendor proceeds to negatively respond, act annoyed to us. Claims remaining reels in folder
June 4 - Last reel added by vendor
June 13 - Polite email highlighting disappointment, and offering a resolution of simply redoing the second reel
June 13 - Responds back within 30 minutes (fastest response time to date) stating the contract is fulfilled and we have been harassing her
Please take a look at my other vendors from the night and you’ll see glowing reviews.
To note: I did not tip the night of because I don’t believe you should tip until you see the finished work (I say this as Vendor could highlight that as ‘being cheap’. I’m glad I didn’t tip them, as this was a horrible experience. For comparison, I tipped the bar / restaurant 30% that night. Regardless, tipped or not, Vendors should focus on doing a good job, especially if they are an owner / operator.
