Let Jackson Street Chapel be the venue that transports you to another time. Located in the quaint city of Clare MI, this historical chapel was originally built in 1863 on a rural country corner. In 1929 the chapel was moved 10 miles by draft horses to its current location, three blocks east of the Doherty Hotel. The chapel offers period time appropriate details with modern comfort amenities. The antique details are everywhere from the stain glass, and pews, to the lights as well as the lecterns. As you enter the sanctuary through antique pocket doors, you and your guests will feel the warm charm this venue has to offer on your monumental day.

Facilities & Capacity

Jackson Street Chapel has the capacity to seat up to 80 comfortably in the sanctuary as well as in the full basement. The sanctuary offers handicap access, but unfortunately not to the basement, where the bathroom facilities are located. The building has a newer HVAC system. The Bridal Room is updated as well. The basement would be a wonderful place if needed with either round or rectangular tables and chairs for a small reception after the wedding or appetizers to be served while pictures are being taken of the happy couple.

History

The chapel was built in 1863 on the corner of Colonville Road and Tobacco Drive (Loomis Road) in Sheridan Township and was named the "Herrick Church". It was moved to the village of Clare by draft horses and placed on Jackson Street, where later it was known as the "Seventh Day Adventist". The chapel then was purchased by the Clare Masonics, where it was used for monthly meeting. It was eventually put on the market in and purchased in 2015. It was then that the vision was to return it to its former self and offer it as a unique time appropriate venue for those special weddings and events that will live the test of time.
