~ We have been in the business for years. Why go blindly into something that you have never experienced before when you can have a team with tons of experience! With these years come great relationships with the area's top vendors.

~We can be a mediator in sticky situations. If you pick a theme color that your mother will never approve of, the words "my planner advised.." are a good tool to have. This removes disagreements.

~ You want to enjoy your wedding day. A planner takes care of the behind the scenes issues. You should not be worried about the photographer missing your entrance or the linens being wrong. While friends and family could take care of some things, but a wedding planner is there to work for you. They are not there to socialize.

~We can save you money! We know how to balance a budget around your priorities. We also only work with vendors who will give me the best quality and price.

J. Starr was better than we could have ever imagined!

Let me start by saying planning a wedding is no joke! When we got engaged and started talking about having our wedding the following year, I knew I needed help. I had introductory phone calls with 3 different wedding planners (and emailed a few more for pricing sheets) and J. Starr was a clear winner! It can be so intimidating starting the process when you haven’t planned a wedding before and when you haven’t been to a lot either, but talking with both Jennifer and then April for the first time was like sunshine and rainbows! I knew they were going to be great from the start!

It is hard to put into words how much April did for us over the entire year we worked with her, but she is the sole reason we had such a beautiful wedding! And one we continue to get compliments on a month later! I have friends getting married and starting to plan who ask me what we did in certain parts of ours, or how we found certain vendors, because they one someone the same. And it was all April!! With every one of my questions answered and every detail executed, it was like she was planning our wedding but with the precision of if it were her own. She understood our vision and made sure we had vendors that did the same and went the extra mile to make it happen.

Sidenote, we live out of the country 10 months out of the year for work, so with an exception of one week that I came back for food tasting, cake tasting, hair and makeup trial, and floral mock up (all which April helped me plan during that week) everything for us was done remotely! April scheduled/organized/grouped vendor calls all within a timeframe that worked for us overseas and around our lives here. She really made everything so so easy for us.

I could probably write a novel titled “How Amazing April Is” but these are a few standout items she made possible for our wedding:
We draped all the walls and ceilings in our venue. Not easy, not cheap. April went through at least 4 (that I know of) vendors before finding someone who could do it within our budget and to our liking!! This was a huge part of our vision! While we were open to discussing other options because of the budget, she was determined to get us what we wanted. Even with a last minute meeting the month of our wedding, we added a little more and the vendors gave us a discount which I don’t think would have happened if they weren't constantly in contact with a planner that was so nice!
The DJ. Another huge party of our vision, because we wanted our reception to be an absolute party! (Which it was!) We looked through at least 6 or 7 different DJ’s before she found someone who was so perfect for us! …** Our DJ might have been our most complimented vendor/part of our wedding.
The timeline and scheduling in general. The scheduling sheet she emailed me a week or so before our wedding blew my mind! Everything detailed down to 15 minute increments! She made us one without all the vendor info too and it made it so easy for my husband and I to send to our bridal parties and families! Everyone knew where they needed to be and it relieved us of having to answer a million questions leading up to the day of.

April, you were the best!! J. Starr gave us the most incredible wedding and I’m confident anyone who works with them will have the same experience we did.

My Drean Wedding with the Dream Team!

I would never have been able to have the most amazing wedding day experience without the constant aid & attention I was given by April & her dream team at J. Starr. To have 2 ceremonies in 1 day, involving 3 different locations, 4 outfit changes, 2 makeup & hair looks, AND a 2nd-line to parade us to our reception, all go off without a hitch is a testament to the professionalism & follow-through of this company! Not to mention their finger on the pulse of EVERYTHING made it so we were always on time, checked off everything on our to-do list, & was able to enjoy the day stress free & feeling like a bride without a care in the world! Also, they were by far the least expensive of all the planners I interviewed, the most responsive, & the most patient with the different needs & wants that comes with blending a Hindu & Methodist wedding together. Without them, it would not have been possible for myself & my husband to keep a smile on our faces all day; not to mention our families & bridal party since they didn't have to do a bunch a grunt work on the day of, they felt they were gifted fairy godmothers!!! I honestly get emotional thinking about all they did to help our families' & our own dreams come true. I am truly grateful for them & highly recommend them to anyone who wants to be a happy & well taken care of bride on their wedding day. Thank you, ladies, for doing what y'all were hired to do, finding us the best vendors, doing all the research on costs, & basically pulling the day off so beautifully & effortlessly; I still can't get over how awesome my wedding was! Your wedding concierge!

My now-husband and I worked with Angela under the partial planning/month-of coordination package, and my goodness was that the best decision we made in all of our wedding planning. While we chose the vendors ourselves, Angela stepped in at the six-week mark to basically take all the planning stress off my shoulders.

How did she do this? Let’s start with the cat-herding that is vendor coordination—Angela sent out an email to all vendors asking them to contact her for last-minute details instead of me, and then that was it—I was done. She filled out the individual vendors’ planning forms. She made the master timeline for our big day. She attended our cake tasting/final venue walkthrough, to provide input and her expert opinion on those weird “huh, I never thought about that” questions. In short, I was able to completely hand things off to her and (here’s the magic bit) *not think about them after that*. Seriously—Angela was so on top of all the details that I didn’t have to make following up with her a to-do item. She even spotted things that needed doing before I did, like remembering to update the linen rentals when we added three more people to our guest list.

There were a number of curveballs thrown at us during the planning process, but Angela stayed cool and unruffled. On our wedding day, she ran interference with vendors, tied my fourteen-point bustle with ease, remembered all the little details I mentioned, and even came up with an idea for a grand exit when I hadn’t planned one. Throughout it all, she was an absolute delight to work with. I will miss texting with her, but am lucky to have the wonderful memories from our wedding day that she made possible. Thank you, Angela and Jennifer, for such an amazing day! You are both fabulous!
