There were several reasons we went with the Hyatt for our wedding reception.
1) Michele Ganiko. She is absolutely great! If we did both ceremony and reception at the Hyatt, I knew we would not need a day of coordinator because Michele is so fantastic. She was great with responsiveness and tried to do her best with flexibility (it was difficult because she was staying within the rules and regulations of the hotel).
2) The chandeliers in the ballroom are gorgeous. I really loved the way the ballroom felt and needed very little (in my mind) to make it wedding appropriate. My (now) husband and I had a prom at this hotel and it held very special moments for us. And now at this age we are able to appreciate the decor and atmosphere it provided.
Some downsides were the routes from the hotel room to downstairs (for pictures), to the ceremony, to the hotel room, to the ballroom (located across the street) included an extensive amount of walking and combination of 2 sets of escalators and 2 sets of hotels. Again, if the ceremony and reception were at the same location, then this problem would be minimalized.
I wish the banquet captain kept us more informed about the level of drinks being consumed (we needed to meet a minimum) and the fact that the popular champagne punch was not being refilled was disappointing.
Overall we had a lovely wedding, but every event has its downsides.
