Eileen started baking at the age of 8 for family and friends, with things as simple as cookies and pizza and has never quit since then, progressing to a level which rivals most national bakeries, whipping up some of the most talked about and beautiful baked goods in the region! Baking professionally since 1995, she started How Sweet It Is Cakes out of her home in Portland. This turned out to be a smart move as the cake industry was just on an upswing. Once people found about her unique style, the orders started rolling in. By shear will power and a baptism by fire she managed to turn out cake after cake and within a few short weeks Eileen had created a bakery to be reckoned with!

Originally from Duluth; she moved back home in 2007 to marry her college sweetheart. Mrs. Eileen Brown quickly jumped back in the game and restarted her bakery up in a church basement Cloquet and quickly outgrew her location. The bakery has now found a home within the historical Medical Arts building in beautifully restored downtown Duluth.

Eileen and her staff make everything from scratch. This includes but is not limited to: breads, pies, cookies, French pastries, Italian desserts and of course… cakes. There is no limit to her imagination and she loves to create unique and wonderful desserts. She has now taken on the endeavor of opening a deli on site. The How Sweet It Is Deli Serves up breakfast and lunch five days a week. The deli provides specialty coffee, hearty soups and not to mention the largest sandwiches in Duluth built on top of her famous home made breads!!

Often referred to as The Cake Boss of Duluth, she caters over 400 weddings a year and is always striving to provide the best product, service and imaginative baked item in the market.
