First established in 1851 during the California Gold Rush, The California state registered historic landmark, The Historic Hotel Leger is rich in the history of the region. Centrally located in the Mother Lode region in the Town of Mokelumne Hill, once one of the richest boom towns during the Gold Rush, the Hotel is a unique venue for your wedding event in many ways. Part of the hotel encompasses the original Calaveras County Courthouse and Jail. When the county seat was moved from Mokelumne Hill to San Andreas in 1866 and the Courthouse building was annexed to become part of the Hotel, the old courtroom was converted into the famouns Leger ballroom. For many years, all the important events of the time were held at the Leger Ballroom.

With 13 guest rooms decorated with beautiful antique furniture, a historic bar and full-service dining provided by our own highly acclaimed Whitewater Grill & Saloon, and a beautiful pool courtyard graced by our three 150-year old orange trees, The Historic Hotel Leger is truly a one-of-a-kind experience.
