Less than a 10 minute walk from downtown Columbus, the Grange Insurance Audubon Center lies on a fragile green oasis, a tiny jewel, a hidden haven for wildlife and birds along the Scioto River.

Set amid a once industrial landscape, the area dramatically changed, owing to a partnership betweenthe National Audubon Society, City of Columbus and Columbus & Franklin County Metro Parks with the creation of the Scioto Audubon Metro Park. GIAC opened in 2009 and is a nature center that serves two functions- an educational sanctuary and a monitor for the Important Bird Area. Thousands of birds ... migrating from Central & South America use this spot along the Scioto River as a stopover during their long journeys.

In an effort to help people achieve GIAC's mission of introducing people to nature, as well as supporting programs, the Audubon Center offers a rental of its various facility spaces. We would like to express our thanks for your interest in holding your special event at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center. -Reducing & sustaining management of invasive exotic threats to the Scioto Audubon Metro Park
-Increasing & restoring land and river zones along the Scioto River
-Providing nature-based educational programming for the greater Columbus community, in an effort to create a connection to nature and encourage environmental stewardship
-Protecting and monitoring the Scioto-Greenlawn Important Bird Area as to understand the vulnerable and native populations of birds
