An amazing live band was the most important thing we wanted at our wedding. We are fortunate to live in an area that in the summer has endless bars with live music. It is our favorite thing to do but we are also very picky. We had full intentions of hiring one of the local bands we love and having them make the trip. After one meeting with John of The Goody Blue Shoes that all changed. His energy, expertise, and good vibes are infectious. You can tell that this is more than just a job to him and he goes above and beyond to build a relationship with his clients. Even though he had other events going on we always felt like we were his only couple and he always made time for us. John goes over every detail and was almost like having a second wedding planner. His main goal is to make your wedding day perfect in any way that he can. No is not in John's vocabulary if you want something he will make it happen. We could not have been happier with the whole planning process and John made it as stress-free as possible. The band is incredible, our guests cannot stop talking about the band and how amazing they sounded. We had one guest tell us they wished they had heard them before booking their band. They said they are 300 times better than the band they hired and would have flown The Goody Blue Shoes to Maryland! Another guest told us it took him a minute to realize that it was the female vocalist who was singing during our ceremony not a recording. Months after our wedding, people are still raving about GBS. “That band was incredible”! And boy do we AGREE! GBS had the dance floor packed the entire night! Their medleys cover all genres of music through a variety of songs which kept everyone dancing throughout the sets. During the entire planning process, John made us feel like his number one priority. Though phone calls, zoom calls, breakfast dates and gig appearances, John got to know us and learn about us. GBS not only provide the music for our reception but also the ceremony. Days before the wedding we decided we wanted to add a violin player to the ceremony, specifically for the song I was walking down the aisle to. John made it his personal mission to exhaust his contacts to make it happen. Which he did! John and GBS not only made our wedding incredible but got a bunch of Phillies fans to not only dance the Mets walk out song but helped us welcome and party with Mr. Mets! 😉

Goody Blue Shoes was a HUGE part of making the our wedding day the amazing day it was. John and his team worked so hard to execute our perfect day from the initial call set up to the planning meetings up until our wedding. They made sure every detail and aspect was planned for. When planning your wedding, the reception is a HUGE portion of the day--- having the right band/music sets the ENTIRE reception. I learned through our meetings that John was going to make sure the reception went EXACTLY as we had hoped for. To show the level of detail he goes to - he even talked with the event caterer to know when food would approximately come out to know how many songs we could and in what order the events (such as the cake cutting, first dance, father dance, etc) went! We were so thrilled with how our entire night went and John and his team made sure everything we wanted to happen happened. You will have meetings (more than 1!) that go above and beyond to nail down every detail that is important to you. Another example - he thoroughly goes over pronunciations of each member of the bridal party so every person is announced correctly. Him and his team are so personable. On top of this they are BEYOND talented!!!! Having a band was so important to us to set the tone for an amazing event. If having a band is top of your list (and you want your wedding/event to be unique and top class) then going with GOODY BLUE SHOES is the way to go!!!! Although weddings costs A LOT and bands are more than DJS - having them as a BAND was worth every $ we spent! We had already hired (and paid for) a DJ, and then we saw a band at a wedding and realized...we needed a band. But not any band. We were extremely picky. We wanted strong vocals, a horn section, and lots of versatility. You. will. not. find. better. than. Goody. Blue. Shoes. I guarantee it. They were THE reason our wedding was awesome. The professionalism from the moment we hired them to the talent the day of, there are truly not enough words. From the pie in the sky wedding processional idea, I had to welcoming my father-in-law, a musician, to sing with them for our first dance. Truly incredible.

Goody Blue Shoes literally blew the roof off our wedding. Our guests are still raving about the time they had and almost the entire party of 200 ppl were on the dance floor for most of the night. They were incredible and true professionals, they took the time to get to know my husband and I months before our wedding, scheduled at least three calls up leading up to the night to talk through the process, the music we wanted, and set expectations for the progression of the night. Matt & John are an amazing team, our entire set list was tailored to what we wanted and to our style. They will also work with your venue to ensure the night is running smoothly and efficiently, while you & your guests are highly entertained. IF you considering them, I highly recommend scheduling a meeting to talk through their services. They’re fantastic and your guests will be talking about you wedding for weeks!

All through the pandemic John worked with us to make sure our wedding day was every bit as special as we wanted it to be. We had to postpone in addition to switching venues, and John was just a short text or phone call away to make sure the rescheduling worked for GBS.

As for the wedding itself, unbelievable! High energy from the start and it never trailed off! Had people up and dancing the whole night, my wife and I never left the dance floor once! We couldn’t recommend them enough, nor can we thank them enough for their friendliness and determination to make our wedding truly unforgettable! We are so lucky to have been able to book them and gain some new friends in the process!

STOP SEARCHING AND HIRE GOODY BLUE SHOES!! JOHN SAVED OUR WEDDING AND WE LEGITIMATELY WOULD NOT BE MARRIED WITHOUT HIM. My fiancé and I knew we wanted to hire a band for our wedding so we started looking right away. After doing our fair share of online research, we checked out about 5 bands in person. Many have showcases where you sit and they play a couple of songs, but John invited us to see them at a local venue. We instantly fell in love with how GBS so effortlessly got everyone dancing and having a great time. What makes John so great is how much he truly cares about what he does, and cares about YOU. He took time to ask questions and get to know us as a couple, beyond the usual small talk when you meet a vendor. Our original wedding date was May 23, 2020, so COVID threw a wrench in our plans. We had 2 other wedding dates before our final date of September 6, 2021, and John was able to work with us to QUICKLY let us know the band’s availability and rebook with ease. During the planning session of our big day, he could sense we were stressed and burnt out due to the impacts of COVID-19. He actually took the time to talk to us, ask us how we were doing, and GET US PUMPED about our own wedding. I will never forget that evening. We met to go over wedding plans but it felt more like hanging out with a friend. John will work directly with your venue to take off some of the burden. This is a huge relief, but even more appreciated when our friend who was to officiate tested positive for COVID-19 five days before our wedding. We found another officiant, but then the next day his apartment flooded and his car totaled when Hurricane Ida showed up. TWO DAYS before our wedding we had no one to marry us. I vaguely remembered John saying he had married a couple before, so I frantically asked if he could marry us and HE SAVED THE DAY. He was able to work directly with our friend who had already come up with the ceremony and knocked it out of the park as our wedding officiant. John also worked directly with a string quartet he recommended (Cherrywood String Ensembles – so great), to arrange for ceremony music. After MARRYING US, John led the band during our cocktail hour (so recommend you use them for this), and then rocked it all night for our reception. EVERYONE came up to us and said how great the band was. They played a bit of everything and made sure everyone was having a great time. They are fantastic musicians and great hosts. They really are worth 5x what they charged and we would hire them again in an instant. John was also really great at letting us break up the final cost into multiple payments and the deposit to book is very cheap compared to other bands. PLEASE do yourself a favor and HIRE THEM. We can honestly say that we have gained a true friend with John and we are GBS groupies for life. THANK YOU GBS!

Dear Goody Blue Shoes: We wanted to send you all a belated THANK YOU for being such a critical part of our New Year's Eve wedding. We have been mulling over how we can possibly express in words our gratitude for your band's unbelievable performance and support during and leading up to our wedding day. As you know, we were unlucky with the timing of our wedding -- Omicron was at its peak during the holidays, and so many of our guests had been exposed to the variant leading up to the wedding. As if planning a wedding in the ordinary course isn't stressful enough, in just the few days leading up to the wedding, we had a nearly 30% cancellation from our guests. We were gutted, anxious and super disappointed with the circumstances. During the 48 hours prior to our wedding, John continued to reassure a very distressed bride that the band is "going to make sure everyone has a good time." And Goody Blue Shoes certainly delivered. We had the most incredible night of fun and dance with an intimate group of friends and family -- you helped pull off nothing short of a miracle wedding that we will cherish and remember for the rest of our lives. There was so much energy from the band that kept our guests on the dance floor all night long. The songs were right on point with our specific and general requests. The groom would especially like to express gratitude for playing Man in the Mirror, which got the attention of his friends who couldn't resist getting on the floor during dinner to air guitar and dance to the song. We had so much fun that evening, and the band got us dancing so hard that the groom ripped his pants! :) No one wanted the night to end, even though you performed well past midnight, at which point everyone was asking for ONE MORE SONG!

John, you have been a coach/therapist/friend throughout the whole process. From our first consultation to the big day (and all the lengthy conversations in between), you have been an ear and guide to pulling off a wedding that was unique and special to us. We benefited from your extensive knowledge and experience with wedding planning and vendor coordination. You shared so many important suggestions, such as having all the New Year's Eve accessories at the front of the stage so the guests would not have to leave the dance floor during the countdown. You listened to our vision and executed beyond our expectations not just the music, but the ambience for the evening -- a sweet and emotional ceremony to a hyper energetic reception.
