Reviews of First Presbyterian Church of Plymouth

We selected FPCP because it’s beautiful and because they would accept us – hubby is Catholic, I’m Episcopal and neither of us practice. They were also all-inclusive – we didn’t have to search for an officiant, musician, etc – the church provided all of this as part of their package. I think they were on the pricey side in comparison to chapels (which we were looking at) but not too bad in comparison to other churches. They are very well organized – no hassle. There is a clerk who works regular business hours and is always available to answer questions. We didn't meet with our (church provided) wedding coordinator until the rehearsal. And we didn’t have an opportunity to talk through the service in advance. If you book here, I would specifically ask to do so. I think we could have had we asked for it and in hindsight I regreat that. Another bummer - the pastor pronounced our name wrong for our first introduction - and it's not hard. The grounds are beautiful. The service was candle lit. We didn’t do much decoration at all and it was beautiful!

This was the church my husband grew up in, but since he had moved away for college we were treated as non-members. We planned from an hour away, which made communication a bit difficult. There were very strict rules about many aspects of the service, and the ceremony had to be very traditional and structured (which ended up being fine for us).

Despite some of the bumps and hurt feelings before the wedding, the church and ceremony ended up being absolutely beautiful and went off without a hitch. Dr. Skimins gave a funny but meaningful short sermon and did an excellent job quietly guiding us through the service, while making it enjoyable for our guests.
