First established in July 1874, the Abbey on Main is a beautiful wedding venue in Washington, Michigan. This stunning location underwent renovations and restorations in 2022 to modernize a building that still preserves its beauty from the 19th century. It lies just outside of Detroit and less than an hour from the Metropolitan Airport, making it easy for out-of-town guests and long-distance travelers. Lisa Rapp and the friendly team at the Abbey welcome couples from all backgrounds and walks of life to come and share their perfect day.

Facilities and Capacity

Nearlyweds can choose between an indoor and outdoor reception, while the chapel can easily accommodate up to 175 friends and family for a moving ceremony. The Sanctuary can comfortably seat up to 250 people under one roof, and the outdoor ceremony space in the Congregation Courtyard allows wedding parties to celebrate under the moon and stars. Two gorgeous and thoughtfully decorated get-ready rooms are also available at the Abbey on Main. The first was once the main office and features vintage, built-in bookcases and the overall vibe of an old-fashioned cigar bar. The second get-ready room is elegant in its simplicity, with natural light peaking in to radiate the neutral-toned space, lounge furniture, tables, and food service counters.

Services Offered

All vendors and wedding coordinators are welcome at the Abbey on Main, where couples design the venue in the style and theme that resonates most. Parking is provided on the premises for approximately 90 vehicles. There is also a public parking lot across the street from the Abbey on Main, so ample room exists for wedding parties of all sizes.
