I just worked with Felix's to cater my wedding at the Carlsbad Flower Fields on 7/12 and they were a HIT! I really wanted delicious, filling, discussion-worthy food at my wedding and I got that with Felix's. I'm originally from SD (but live in the Bay Area) and when most San Diegans think of BBQ they think Phil's because that's all that's really around right? NO! I yelped BBQ and Felix's came up. I contacted them about a tasting and Ron, who is super friendly and easy to work with, contacted me and set one up. The location is really convenient and they had a whole tasting room located next door to the restaurant. i could bring up to 6 people (but only 3 were available). We had a 3 course meal and it was complimentary. We started with their delicious home made salad dressing salad (sooo good) then we EACH got basically half a chicken (soo juicy) and a good helping of tri-tip. We also got to sample the gumbo, poppin john (really good), corn bread (amazing) and the MAC n CHEESE (to die for!!!!) and ended the meal with cookies. From the minute I tasted the salad I was sold and that wasn't even the best part.

We also contacted Phil's and they only do tastings at the Sports Arena location-- totally inconvenient for north county people. So we went to their restaurant in San Marcos, paid for a meal and were not very impressed. My now husband is from the south and we wanted good food, Felix's won!

They are totally reasonably priced for wedding catering compared to other "fancier" but much less delicious food. Ron is fantastic to work with and actually served at the wedding and all of my guests commented on how nice he was and how AMAZING the food was. The number one comment of the night was, "that was the best food I've ever had at a wedding, hands down!" Just what I wanted.
