About

Located in Chicago, Illinois, Eris Brewery & Cider House is a woman-owned distillery venue perfect for hosting intimate weddings and events. Constructed in 1910, the building was intended as a Masonic Temple and has since undergone a complete revamp, becoming the beautiful space it is today. The property was inspired by the Greek goddess Eris, who was renowned for causing mayhem. For the mythology-loving couple, this idea is sure to incite excitement and positive energies on the wedding day.

Facilities and Capacity

Eris Brewery & Cider House features stunning architectural designs and raw materials that pay homage to its initial construction. Original radiators, structural wood, and steel make up the building's foundation, adding to the authentic architectural style of the early 1900s. The space can comfortably accommodate weddings big and small, hosting celebrations ranging from 20 to 250 friends and family. The outdoor patio features exposed brick walls, verdant bushes and trees, and an arbor covered in market lighting that guests can gather around for a summer ceremony. Loved ones can enjoy a cocktail hour here after the service, taking advantage of the venue's mimosa bar, catering service, and ample seating. Afterward, the pair-of-honor can head indoors to begin the food and drink celebrations. Depending on party size, couples and loved ones are welcome to the main dining room or the private mezzanine for an intimate gathering.

Services Offered

The Eris Brewery & Cider House team helps couples plan their dream wedding celebration, whether that is a lavish reception event or a casual rehearsal dinner. The group works with the pair-of-honor from start to finish to ensure their experience is customized to their specific needs. The chefs pride themselves on their wide range of delicious and ethically sourced cuisine offerings, sourcing its food locally and cooking everything fresh on-site. As an upscale pub and restaurant, the chefs strive to embrace big and bold flavors in their meals, pairing every dish with a refreshing craft beer or crisp cider. The chefs also have a variety of thoughtfully prepared plant-based and gluten-free dishes available to suit a wide range of dietary requirements. The venue accommodates passed appetizers, buffets, and sit-down meals to suit a couple's party size and wedding style.

A Truly Chicago Wedding Experience

We love Eris! We worked with Shanna for a wedding that was supposed to occur in 2020 but was postponed due to the COVID pandemic. And we were so happy we chose them. They graciously helped us rebook for 2021 and, thankfully, everything went off without a hitch in September. Our wedding ceremony was outside on the patio before cocktails, dinner and dancing inside. The space is amazing and truly the main reason we chose the Brewery. We were able to sit our entire wedding party on the upper level, overlooking our guests seated in the booths below and more guests in the upper mezzanine. The food was phenomenal. The drink choices were amazing. The exposed brick and beautiful interior and exterior made our pictures one of the best parts of the experience. We were even able to hire a dessert ice cream truck that parked in the parking lot for a special treat for our guests. Guests also were able to sit outside after the ceremony and mingle inside giving the venue that indoor-outdoor vibe you may be looking for in the warmer months. We hired an outside DJ who had no trouble working with Shanna and the events team on his PA system and connecting to Eris' system. Our outside photographers had no problem being accommodated by staff. We used Eris for late night food but also brought in some of our own desserts. We couldn't have been happier with what Eris did for us. Their team was top notch. We crafted a menu and drink package that we were proud of and displayed all the talents of the food and beverage department at Eris. We were happy to be one of the early guinea pigs to hosting wedding at the venue and we would do it again in a heartbeat. Both my wife and I, as members of the neighborhood, can't wait to see how Eris explodes from here because there's even more potential at the venue than what we were able to accomplish for our wedding. And it'll be a fun sight to see in the future. It was magic.

Look No Further

My husband and I are coming up on one year since we celebrated our wedding anniversary at Eris Brewery and Cider House and looking back, we could not be happier with the celebration that we had. Like many couples, my husband and I had to alter our wedding plans once the pandemic hit. After a small backyard wedding the previous year, we were excited to plan a day when our families could come together to meet one another and celebrate our marriage and baby on the way. Wanting to do something in our neighborhood, we reached out to Eris and were put in contact with Shanna Karamaniolas. She could not have been more helpful and was always available to answer questions and address our every need! Not only did she provide us with a multitude of options regarding ways we could accommodate a large group of family and friends, she helped us narrow in on delicious menu items she knew our guests would enjoy. We were able to rent out the entire space for a celebratory brunch which included a happy hour outside on their beautiful patio. We had early and easy access to the venue in order to decorate as we wished. They set up the physical space in a way that allowed our guests to feel safe in light of COVID-19 and allowed us to play the music we had selected, even going so far as to letting us use their microphone and sound system for toasts and speeches from family members. To this day, our family raves about the architecture of the space, the beautiful weather that day and the delicious food and drinks! If we had to plan our event again, we wouldn’t change a thing and look forward to making memories at Eris in the future!

Great Space, Great Food, Great Experience

Eris was wonderful! Gorgeous space, delicious food, and helpful serving staff. With all the Covid-related changes, they were very flexible and encouraging. They had different packages and we found one that met our vibe. (Very reasonable pricing.)

Unforgettable venue!

Phew. Planning a wedding during a pandemic was a wild ride. We originally planned to get married on 07/2020 but had to push our ceremony & reception out a full year. With that, we also had to change venues and scrambled to find an outdoor venue that had availability.

Enter - Eris! We had dined at Eris several times and were BLOWN AWAY with the food and the space. When we found out they also did events, we jumped at the opportunity! The Eris team was so excited about our wedding and was very accommodating throughout the entire process. They let us use all of our originally booked vendors (band/photographer/dessert/florist) and seamlessly integrated with them!

Food: I WILL RAVE ABOUT THE FOOD FOREVER!!! My husband is from Kansas City and loves his BBQ. We were able to have Eris' incredible smoked brisket, and they let us bring in a spread of KC BBQ sauces! We requested a donut dessert bar with their life changing donuts and mascarpone. Their menus are also very vegan friendly - in fact, the vegan burritos were the FIRST thing to go from our buffet! We wanted people to love the food at our wedding, and it was by far one of the most memorable parts!!

Drinks: Amazing! After our ceremony, the team at Eris did passed cider... which was absolutely perfect for cocktail hour in the summer heat. Shanna also went above and beyond to create a custom drink menu for us and printed it the day of with our personalized drinks! At the end of the event, they bottled growlers for our guests to take home as favors.

Space: Eris is grand, moody, and beautiful. We were able to utilize the full space and got married on the patio underneath the pergola with fairy lights. For the reception, the full wedding party & family sat on the Brewdeck, with our guests split between the main floor and the Mezzannine. It was airy, and beautiful! With it being so beautiful already, it certainly helped our decoration/floral costs - we just focused on greenery and light florals.

I will admit that I was a little apprehensive going with a venue that wasn't as 'established' for weddings. I was also planning my own wedding, so there were definitely some times where I had no idea what to do next in the process. But I had no reason to worry! Shanna & her team worked tirelessly with me to figure things out and make sure the day was executed correctly. The extra touches that Shanna & her team put together the day of really spoke to their commitment to making the day special. Thank you for the best day ever!

Such fun and SUCH value!

We had our wedding reception at Eris back in 2019. We were among the first big weddings they had done, but this was the first wedding I’ve had so we were well matched :) During our planning period, Eris hired a new event coordinator who was spectacular (Chris, I think). All our needs were understood and met, and our expectations were exceeded. The food was terrific and accommodated all our weird guests needs (how the chef managed to make a vegan and gluten free lasagna that EVERYONE loved remains a mystery!), and obviously the drinks were superb. As an additional bonus, we enjoy returning on our anniversary to celebrate in the space we first celebrated in. Really can’t say enough good things about working with Erik’s team.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
