Ellen and her staff were the best! I brought my Lovely Bride dress here, and she was able to fit it perfectly to my body....twice. I originally had my wedding scheduled for August 2020, and it was postponed to a full year later. Needless to say, I gained some weight in some areas and lost some in others. She was gracious and courteous when I was frazzled by the re-tailoring experience. The dress ended up fitting perfectly, and I felt so beautiful and confident on my wedding day. She is truly a professional, and you be so happy with her work.

Ellen is BRILLIANT and I think she and Oksana saved our wedding. We had to postpone 4 times because of Covid and by the time we were actually able to proceed, I was going to be 7 months pregnant at the wedding. I loved my dress and wanted to still use it if possible. I was incredibly overwhelmed and researched dozens of wedding dress alteration specialists in both NY and NJ. Some places told me the dress could not be changed so drastically (it had a corset bodice), or quoted me exorbitant prices, but Ellen was the most knowledgeable, experienced, realistic, and reasonable. I trusted her immediately and even though we had just moved to NJ, I decided she was the wisest choice and was happy to come in several times for her services. She preserved the 'essence' of my dress while expertly altering it to accommodate my growing belly. I cannot recommend her highly enough - hands down, Ellen's Couture was the best decision we made for the entire wedding!

Ellen did amazing work tailoring my wedding dress. I was on a tight timeline and chose my dress quickly. I wasn't quite sure I loved my dress when I bought it, but Ellen transformed it into an elegant piece that I absolutely loved, and that fit me perfectly! She has real vision, and convinced me to keep some aspects of the dress that I originally wanted to change. When I look at my wedding photos, I am SO glad I took her advice. Thank you Ellen!

I had the best experience working with the ladies at Ellen's Couture. I brought my dress to them right after I bought it (about 9 months before my wedding) and not only did they store it, we had about 3 fittings where we adjusted every last thing. This was not a passive tailoring experience either - all of the ladies are so professional and actually talk to you about what tailoring say, the straps on a dress, might do and how that might be affected when you sit, etc.

The pricing was fair for the work that was needed for my dress -- lots of layers and bustling and everything was perfect -- completely worry free and so easy.

I took my BHLDN dress to Ellen's to get some alternations done to it before my wedding and I'm so glad that I did! Ellen is great with her eye, and really will only tell you what you need to have done (i.e., she said that my dress could get away without being hemmed, which I really appreciated!). For my dress she put in a bustle (that my coordinator later in the day of my wedding as they were doing it up for me commented that it was the most well made, easy to follow bustle that they had ever come across), and added a belt and boning on the side of my dress for me. You could tell that she had a great eye for fit and size, and quickly knew exactly what needed to be done the minute I stepped out of the fitting room. Also, when I picked up my dress on the last appointment, they steamed it and put it in a bag to protect it as I transported it up to my venue, which I really appreciated since that was one area I was a little nervous about in terms of getting it up without being too crumpled.

She was also extremely reasonable with everything she did and after the bustle was done and I came in to try it on and we realized that a slight hem on the sides was needed to make things even when the dress was bustled due to the train, they made sure I was okay with the additional price before doing it, and again, she didn't push me to have it done and said it was fine without it and it would be up to me if I wanted to include it. She also, made sure when she sewed my belt onto the dress to do it in a way that I could take the belt off in the future to reuse, which was so great of her to think about! I really appreciated my experience at Ellen's, especially since it was often just myself going there during lunch-hour and was worried I would be overwhelmed, but it was certainly not the case!

There is no doubt in my mind that I would recommend Ellen to any future brides getting married!

I'm in love. Ellen is fantastic. My dress had to be hand-sewn, and the quality of the work is spectacular. She was great with explaining what needed to be altered, how, and most importantly - validated the expense involved in each aspect she was altering. So it didn't feel like I was getting ripped off like some other places. 5 of my friends and I have now all used Ellen, and I'll be going back any time I need alternations in the future.

Ellen was amazing! Jojo was my therapy dog and he was amazing too! I got married in August (busy season) but all of her work was flawless (I was very early to all of my appointments and witnessed at least 4 other bridal final appointments).
I was first nervous about having to go into the city for alterations but surprisingly I was able to find street parking near by everytime.
As for the work I saw she did, she worked well with tulle, lace, and satin dresses. I don't think there is a fabric she can't handle. I had an applique lace trumpet dress and everything was perfect with the dress - the bustle worked out perfectly.
I'm so happy I chose her for my alterations! You can't just trust anyone with your wedding dress and she was the perfect choice!

I was incredibly nervous about alterations like many brides, but Ellen did a fantastic job and my dress came out looking beautiful and fitting perfectly. She obviously has a lot of experience working on wedding gowns, so things that seemed like monumental tasks to me (taking the dress down 2 sizes but keeping its structure, accommodating my changing size, working with delicate lace and multiple layers, etc), were just routine for her. My mother, mother-in-law and sister, all of whom helped me pick out the dress in the first place and liked it in the beginning, thought that the alterations made the dress look different in a great way - like it was made just for me. Well done!

Ellen did an incredible job tailoring my lace wedding gown by Watters Wtoo. She did it in a timely manner, listened carefully to all aspects that I wanted changed, and left me with a perfectly fitted dress for my wedding. She did amazing work with the lace, took in the dress, took it up, added a 5 button bustle and added in cups. I would recommend Ellen to anyone in the NYC area, especially for lace work!

Ellen is amazing! She was such a pleasure to work with! Seriously made the dress fitting experience so fun! She even have me a big hug & great advice for the wedding day at my last fitting and dress pick up. She and I designed a lace top for my dress & it came out perfect, such a special piece in my wedding. The top and my dress fit like a glove!! She knows what she is doing and is the absolute best, trust her and you can't go wrong! And not to mention her priced as absolutely reasonable for the talented work she does.
