A true "Jersey Boy" at heart, Jake has spent the last decade in Acadiana and proudly calls Louisiana home. Though he dearly misses New Jersey pizza and bagels (and his family), he does NOT miss shoveling snow. His Louisiana friends (whom are like family now) and his colleagues have often called him "the nicest yankee I've [they've] ever met."
He is the creator, band leader, pianist, arranger, agent, manager, and head hat wearer of Dr. Daylight's Jazz Co.
His performance skills include backing Grammy Award Winning artists such as Paquito D'Rivera, Dianne Schurr, and The New York Voices - serving as the organist/choir director at the First Presbyterian Church of Lafayette - and composing/performing for several film soundtracks including "Santa Jaws."
Additionally, Professor Spinella has authored a Music History book, assisted with a revised edition of the Alec Wilder biography, and served as an instructor at both ULL and SLCC.
Spencer Racca hails from the Frog capitol of the world - Rayne, Louisiana. You'd never guess it as he embodies and truly lives the lifestyle of a young man in 1959. Offer him a glass of Jack on the rocks, and he'll be your pal forever.
His home is truly a musuem as he collects period furniture, artwork, decor, and any authentic memorabilia from his heroes - including official police records for the arrests of Frank and Elvis. He spends his downtime playing golf and tinkering with his classical car - one day it will run!
Mr. Racca is the always the best dressed member of Dr. Daylight's Jazz Company. He is has been Dr. Daylight's front man since 2020. When he's not with us, you can catch him at the Sapphire Club in Biloxi, MS as their head crooner (Jake usually backs him on at the piano). Before the pandemic, Spencer was New Orleans' WWII museum's official Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley.
Jim spoils Dr. Daylight with his many talents - hailing from Alabama, he spent a great deal of time playing in Nashville, Virginia, and touring all around the U.S.A. He loves a good game of pool and anything Star Wars, especially Vader.
In addition to his numerous performing and recording credentials, Jim has serves regularly as a local studio musician and has previously served as a music professor at ULL.
