Where do I even begin?! If you’re looking for a DJ who can read a room, blend cultures, keep a dance floor packed, and somehow make it all look effortless, Mr. Illmatic is your guy!

Our wedding was a beautiful blending of Jamaican and Somali cultures, with guests of different ages, backgrounds, musical tastes, and religious traditions. Finding someone who could bring all of that together while keeping everyone comfortable and entertained was no small assignment. But Mr. Illmatic understood it perfectly!

When our steel pan musician was unexpectedly unable to make it, we asked Mr. Illmatic if he could start a little earlier for cocktail hour. Without missing a beat, he stepped in and played steel pan music! We hadn’t even asked him to do that. He simply understood the atmosphere we were trying to create and made it happen.

As dinner began, he transitioned into those smooth, nostalgic reggae vibes. Beres Hammond, lovers rock, the kind of music that makes you sway in your seat, smile, and remember the good old days. It was PERFECT.

And then came the party! 😂

From our cake cutting to our special moments, he guided us through everything with warmth, humor, and that unmistakable DJ voice. He kept our guests laughing, engaged, and, most importantly, DANCING!

Dancehall, old-school reggae, new-school hits, R&B, Jerusalema, group dances, you name it! And when our Somali family requested music from their culture, he found it and kept them on the dance floor, too!

Let me tell you, blending dancehall and reggae with the musical preferences of a more conservative Muslim family takes some serious skill and cultural awareness. He managed to honor both sides beautifully without making anyone feel excluded or uncomfortable.

Our little flower girl practically lived on that dance floor all night, and the grown folks weren’t far behind! 😂

What impressed us most wasn’t just his musical talent. It was his attentiveness, flexibility, professionalism, and genuine desire to make our celebration everything we envisioned. He knew when to speak, when to let the music do the talking, and exactly how to keep the energy flowing.

He has the voice of a DJ and the soul of someone who genuinely loves serving people. That’s a rare combination.

My husband and I couldn’t have asked for anyone better. In fact, we’ve already decided that when our ten-year vow renewal rolls around, Mr. Illmatic needs to be there! And if we have to fly him somewhere to make that happen, so be it! 😂

Mr. Illmatic, thank you for helping make our wedding an unforgettable celebration of love, family, music, and culture. You didn’t just DJ our wedding. You helped bring our vision to life.

Dj Mr. Illmatic was the best DJ we could’ve ever asked for! We literally got phone calls the day after our wedding from our guests saying how great he was. Everyone was on the dance floor the entire night, the playlist was everything we wanted and more, the Photo Booth was the icing on top of the cake, and his vibe/kindness really made our day so special. We couldn’t have asked for a better DJ for our wedding! From start to finish, Mo was professional, fun, and absolutely nailed the vibe we wanted. The music selection was perfect — he read the crowd all night and kept everyone (of all ages!) on the dance floor. The transitions were seamless, the announcements were clear and upbeat, and the energy never dropped once.

We appreciated everything he did for us from the ceremony music, to dinner music, to married couple first dance songs, to our late night party. I wholeheartedly recommend Mo for any special event!!

First, Mo is just a great person, but also, he is a fantastic DJ! He provided more than "just music" for our special day. Mo is a full service DJ, meaning he assists with music selection, but also assures that your event "flows" from beginning to end. He met with us by phone but also communicated via email and provided timely responses and suggestions. We received compliments regarding his service as some guests were surprised with how much our DJ interacted with the guests, we even played a cute newlywed shoe game. We look forward to working with Mo again!

Mo is an amazing DJ! He met with us twice before our wedding to make sure the music and flow of the night was exactly how we wanted it. Mo gave us some great wedding advice and tips at our meetings. He had everyone dancing/singing on the dance floor, outside on the terrace, and at their seats. He played all of the best current songs as well as old favorites.
