I cannot say enough good things about DJ Kara. We were lucky to find someone so queer friendly and professional. Incredibly in tune with the crowd, and picking up on all the songs we'd love to hear. She also doubled as a MC for us and was an absolute professional and had a warm presence. One of the comments we had about the wedding, was how incredibly smooth everything was. She was a big part of that, filling in the spaces of time with announcements and music. The job could not have been done any better. I wouldn't trust anyone but her. She was calm, flexible, early and kept everything running smoothly.

In short, save yourself time and energy and hire this woman!

My wife and I threw her a wild melting pot of unconventional music to play at our wedding ceremony and reception ranging from indie rock and dream pop to future house and straight up filthy bass music. Despite never receiving such requests, she accepted the job and absolutely NAILED IT.

Her mixing is amazing and she effortlessly incorporated our guests requests on the fly without any jarring shifts in her set. This is how you really know she's a GREAT DJ. We had guest after guest coming up to my wife and I complimenting her music arrangements and song choices.

Our ceremony music was beautiful, our dinner dreamy, and the reception/party was insane. (in the best way possible) People danced to the very last song. She also did an awesome job orchestrating our grand entrance, first dance, parent dance, cake cutting etc.

DJ Kara was THE NUMBER ONE detail commented on by EVERYONE at my daughter and her husband's outdoor wedding reception at the Long Beach Museum of Art (on the bluff) this past November. Two-thirds of the 150 guests had flown in from the East Coast and Midwest and no matter the age - high school or college student, 20 something, professional or retiree - they ALL raved about the DJ. The comments in an email to me the day after the wedding made by our family friend and Fine Art Black and White photographer are typical: "Did you ever SCORE on the DJ! I hope you and R&A are going to give her glowing reports on her referral sites, whatever they may be (beyond Yelp). She needs to be as busy as she wants to be, and needs whatever extra exposure you can give her. Didn't you tell me she was kind of last-second?" Yes, DJ Kara was a "last-second" find, referred to me by someone on the museum's list of DJ's who was already booked - 8 months before the wedding and I was heading into panic mode! I knew I hit pay dirt within seconds of my first phone call to her. I hadn't realized until I heard her soft musical voice how important the DJ's voice is (I had talked to quite a few guys by this point). We scheduled a call for her with Rachel and Andrew and within a minute, they too were giving the thumbs up. She met their every expectation and then some - she keeps the agenda on track, knows how to get things moving on the dance floor, but most important, understands that she is the facilitator, not the central character, of the event ... that it's all about the bride and groom who are all about wanting to give their guests the best time ever. The enchanted evening became the fairy tale wedding that had not dared be imagined. The waves crashed, the water sparkled, dusk settled and November's Beaver Moon rose over the dance floor ... and the dancers ... and DJ Kara keeping it all going. How did we get so lucky!! This MOB pats herself on the back for "finding" her!!!
