They were a bit pricey, but that is to be expected with wedding flowers- and what they provided us was gorgeous.
When I first went in, I had a specific idea in mind from a magazine bouquet I had seen. Little did I know the flower featured was rare- but Jackie called ALL over to try and find them for me, she even attempted to have them flown in from across the country. When I decided to scale back my vision, she pulled out tons of live flowers and we pieced together the most perfect bouquet & she wrote it all down. I was skeptical that it could be recreated, but months later she delivered it looking better than I remembered!
The whole team at Design Works really earned my love by going above and beyond on our wedding day when the unexpected happened. My mom and I had made our own amazing silk centerpieces in the weeks before, but when we tried to put them up on the vases that morning the glue came undone and they were rolling across tables and toppling over. It was a DISASTER. We called Jackie to ask what to do and she had us take everything over to their store. They fixed everything to perfection, hand delivered them back to the hall and set everything up beautifully for us in a matter of hours. They SAVED our reception at the last minute and did it with Flair.. I don't know what we would have done without them!!

The florist brought my floral vision to life. We spoke several times (in person and via phone) to tweak the ideas and be sure I stayed close to my budget. When my husband and I walked into the ballroom and saw the centerpieces and the flowers on top of our wedding cake, we were blown away. Also, the ceremony flowers, including bouquets, were fresh and lasted all day/night.

I worked with Jackie for my January wedding, and the flowers turned out beautifully! We sat down and had a detail-oriented conversation, and she went through and made sure we covered everything, which was super helpful, since besides a general idea of the colors I wanted, I had no idea what I was doing! She helped shape my ideas and was very knowledgable and helpful, and we were 100% on the same page by the end of the meeting. They were prompt with a quote, and everything was delivered on time, and all the bouquets and boutonnieres were better than I imagined! My flowers also lasted a little over a week after the wedding, impressive considering they were in and out of the cold and warm. I spent a little more than I wanted to considering I only did bouquets, boutonnieres and corsages, but after researching I learned that their prices were kind of middle of the road, if only edging towards the higher end, but again, I was very happy with the level of service and the beautiful arrangements!

Jackie was great and willing to do whatever was needed. She had a great idea for my beach theme, putting orchids on the tables to bring a tropical essence. I liked our bouquets but the boutonnieres and corsages were lacking. Very tiny and just not the statement I was expecting. The alter arrangements were lacking as well; we had to find stands to put them on so they didn’t look so small. If I were to do it again, I probably would have been very specific with a design. I trusted her expertise.

Short and sweet: flowers delivered were closed and not open, terrible customer service, inability to account for errors Long story: I chose this flower shop because it was 5 minutes from my venue and it was the most affordable. But convenience aside, we got what we paid for. I only had a few requirements regarding the flowers: a full bouquet of white roses for me and simple centerpieces to match. The mock up went great! The florist showed me a centerpiece with full open roses just like the pictures I had shown her. But come the wedding day, the bouquets had roses that were barely open. My bouquet of roses looked like a bouquet of tulips instead. The bridesmaids' bouquets had roses sticking up over the plane of the hydrangeas which made them look awkward. The centerpieces had roses that were also closed, not at all what was shown to us for the mock up. We contacted the store and was told that those were the most open white roses they had and that due to the humidity the roses would open by the time the ceremony started. The thing is, my ceremony and reception was all indoor and thus had minimal humidity. Sadly, the roses did not bloom fully until 5 days after my wedding. The woman on the phone would not admit fault nor would she send someone 5 minutes down the street to where we were to fix the bridesmaids' bouquets. The first reason for refusing was that they would make a mess in the hotel, I told them I didn't mind cleaning up after them as long as they got the job done. Then they quickly said they were too busy and they had another wedding to work on. It's a shame that they think being too busy is a valid excuse for shoddy workmanship. I should have gone with a different florist who would've known what they were doing.

Buyer beware!!!

Buyer Beware! My experience with an almost $200 bouquet from Design Works Flowers, Rochester MI.
I feel compelled to share this troubling experience to caution others. On 11/14, I received a stunning bouquet of flowers for my birthday. By the morning of 11/16, I was shocked to see the flowers wilting and drooping. Concerned, I called the florist to address the issue. I was assured I would get a return call that day but never heard back.
After their closure on Sunday and my absence from the office on Monday, I followed up on Tuesday morning. Once again, I was promised a callback and was asked to provide photos, which I sent promptly. Yet again, there was no response.
Today, after recounting these events once again with the staff at Design Works, I finally received a call from the owner. To my surprise, rather than addressing the issue professionally, she shifted the blame onto me. She insinuated that I had delayed reporting the problem despite my having called promptly. She denied receiving my initial call, implying the fault lay with me. She said, "I'm not saying you're a liar but..." —a bizarre and unfounded accusation.
Her dismissive tone escalated as she accused me of not properly caring for the flowers, even though they were treated exactly as I've cared for countless other bouquets. For context, I also received another bouquet from a different florist on the same day, and they remain vibrant and fresh. When I mentioned this, her response was curt: "We're not talking about those flowers, are we?"
The lack of accountability and professionalism was appalling. While I tried to handle the situation respectfully, the owner's approach left me deeply frustrated. This experience serves as a stark warning—be cautious when choosing where to purchase your floral arrangements.
Professionalism and customer service should never wilt as quickly as the flowers did.
You have been warned! It’s evident from the owner’s responses to other reviews that she consistently avoids taking responsibility for issues.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
