The Dallas Historical Society is a historic art gallery with a ballroom in the Dallas, Texas area where couples can host their weddings. At this elegant city venue couples will find grand halls of stone all around, including polished stone floors and massive stone columns. This venue is located in the city of Dallas, just 10 minutes from The Dallas World Aquarium.
Facilities and Capacity
Couples can invite up to 350 guests to join them on their wedding day at the Dallas Historical Society. Numerous rooms throughout this venue are available for use on the couple’s wedding day. The Hall of Heroes makes a great location for a cocktail reception. Taking the shape of a semicircle, this hall features impressive bronze statues and leads straight to The Great Hall, where couples can host a wedding reception. This sizeable hall has two-story high ceilings with white columns stretching up to meet them. A giant gold sculpture hangs on the wall at the back of this venue. Couples can also use this space for ceremonies with a golden background. There is a lecture hall, Texas rooms, and even clear tents available as additional locations in the Dallas Historical Society. The constantly changing exhibits ensure an exciting experience for any wedding.

History
This stunning Hall of State in Fair Park, the name of the facility itself, was built for the 1936 Centennial Exposition by the State of Texas. The Dallas Historical Society, however, has been around much longer than its brick-and-mortar location. The society began in 1922. Their mission is to protect, observe and exhibit the heritage of the city and state.

The Hall of State was absolutely beautiful and so unique. You cannot beat the grandeur of the venue, and especially the gold medallion in the great hall. Having our wedding here made it feel like a world class event, and the venue really spoke for itself with its timeless architecture and built-in features. The HoS required very minimal decoration, which was a huge saving for our budget. Nora is the site coordinator and she was great to work with, extremely kind and accommodating, and she even allowed me to use my caterer even though they were not on the approved list (they had experience working in a historical venue). The only downside to the venue was extensive construction work on the outside of the building at the time of our wedding. This was not planned when we signed our contract and paid the deposit, but Nora made some concessions to make up for this. Although this didn't affect our event taking place inside, we missed out on some iconic photos on the front steps and our guests had to find their way in through the side door. I wish there would have been a way to avoid the construction due to the contracts DHS had to fulfill with weddings, corporate parties etc., but this is a city owned building and I understand that this was out of their hands. The bridal suite is also a bit small, it was a miracle that we were able to get two hairstylists, two makeup artists, and six girls to fit in here for a few hours. But it worked for our needs and we got some beautiful photos in this classic room. I'd still recommend their onsite suite over getting ready at a hotel nearby, much more convenient. As long as there isn't any construction/restoration going on, I highly recommend the Hall of State for a truly memorable and unique event to any future DFW brides.
