I am so incredibly grateful to have had Christy Yoo as my makeup artist for my wedding! As someone who doesn't know how to do makeup, is overwhelmed by it, and struggles to visualize inspiration photos on my own face, finding the right person was daunting. It was incredibly important to me to find an artist who understood how to enhance Asian features. She came highly recommended by my wedding planner and a friend, and her team seamlessly handles larger bridal parties. I had also seen her in action at a friend's wedding before mine. Even then, I remember being so impressed by how attentive, thoughtful, and kind she was, consistently going above and beyond to support the bride.

Going into the process, I was really nervous because the most I ever do is curl my lashes and wear mascara. During the trial, Christy asked me if I had any concerns, and I was completely honest. Because I don’t usually wear makeup, I was terrified that a bridal look would feel heavy and cakey. Christy was so reassuring. She looked at my skin and told me that I didn't need heavy full coverage, and instead gave me a gorgeous, soft-glam look with light-to-medium coverage. I appreciated this so much because her application felt completely comfortable all day.

Even with the lighter coverage, I was honestly a bit thrown off right after the trial simply because I wasn't used to seeing any makeup on my face. On my drive to the shoot, I remember looking in the mirror and analyzing how my skin texture looked compared to when I don't wear makeup. Every little texture detail felt a bit more prominent to me at first, even though everyone else thought it looked amazing. But once the photo shoot started, my biggest struggle was remembering not to touch my face! My natural reflex was to scratch or brush away stray hairs that touched my face, and I caught myself doing it quite a few times. By the time the shoot was over, though, I realized I was getting used to leaving my face alone and seeing myself with makeup on. The texture didn't feel prominent anymore, and I could finally see what everyone else was seeing. I am so glad I did the trial for that reason, it completely normalized everything for me. By the time the wedding day arrived, I looked in the mirror and just thought it looked absolutely amazing! Since I never wear makeup, it was just an incredible feeling to look at all of our photos and genuinely feel so pretty.

Our wedding day had a lot of moving parts and traveling. I had a traditional Chinese tea ceremony in the morning and a Western ceremony later. I had bought specific hair accessories for the tea ceremony that worked best with a bun, but since I don't love buns, I really wanted a half-up, half-down look for the Western ceremony. Christy happily changed my hairstyle between ceremonies so I could have both looks. She was so organized and made sure we had plenty of time for the change and touch-ups. I had also warned her ahead of time that I cry a lot, and I definitely teared up a ton, but despite the summer heat and the tears, absolutely nothing smudged all night.

I booked her concierge package, which was worth every penny. We started incredibly early, and Christy stayed with us to make sure everything was perfect. Since our venue was on a rooftop, it was quite windy that day. Christy noticed that my veil's comb was a bit shallower than usual and was worried it might get blown away. Instead of leaving just because her contracted hours were up, she stayed extra time to ensure my veil was completely secure with extra bobby pins so it wouldn't slip during the ceremony. Christy made me feel so beautiful and made the whole process incredibly easy. I cannot recommend her enough!

I found Christy Yoo Artistry because I sought out HMUA teams who have extensive experience with Asian features and offered a bridal concierge package (having a bridal concierge package was something I prioritized when planning for our wedding; TLDR 10/10 worth it). Christy Yoo Artistry was amazing to work with -- communication with everyone on her team was clear and efficient. Initially, I was really bummed out that Christy was unavailable for my date but was told about another artist, Jackie. I perused her portfolio and proceeded to have a trial with her. I had my engagement photos taken right after to see how my hair and makeup would show in photographs and how it would hold throughout the day. Everything held up beautifully in the August heat even while trekking through Greystone Mansion (IYKYK). Fast forward to my wedding day, Jackie and the team were timely and professional. Everyone had great energy and when it came time that I needed to calm my nerves, Jackie was really helpful in creating a bubble of zen around me. My bridesmaids and family members who got touch ups done by her can't stop singing her praises. I also really appreciate that I was able to ask for her advice on brow, skin, and hair prep leading up to my wedding day so that I could look and feel my best. Christy and her team were absolutely amazing. Before finding Christy, I had actually done a makeup trial with another artist for my engagement shoot. While it was fine, I wasn't completely thrilled, and looking back, I'm so grateful I kept searching because finding Christy was one of the best wedding decisions I made.

She did an incredible job on me, my bridesmaids, my mother, and even my (now!) husband. The wedding morning was so hectic, but Christy and her team were calm, cheerful, and professional from start to finish. Their energy helped keep everyone relaxed and excited throughout the day.

Christy also put together the sweetest touch-up kit and gift, which was such a thoughtful surprise. And the makeup itself was phenomenal. I cried multiple times throughout the day, and somehow everything stayed perfectly in place. The only thing I had to do was blot my forehead once. The rest was completely bulletproof.

I booked Christy to do my hair and makeup for my wedding in April. She did SUCH an amazing job!!! She was so responsive to what I said during the trial and was able to help me achieve exactly the look I wanted for my wedding. And let me tell you guys, not only does it look amazing, it also stays put all night. I wore my trial hair and makeup to Coachella and it was all still intact by the end of night 1 on Friday, same with wedding night!! She also did hair for a few of my bridesmaids and was able to recreate the exact looks they wanted just from 1-2 pictures!

One of the best things I now know that we did for our wedding day in mid-March 2026 was hiring Christy Yoo Artistry and her team for hair and makeup! Christy is such an intuitive, creative hair and makeup artist and a true girl's girl/people-person. I met her in November 2025 for my hair and makeup trial and she was so friendly and kind. I really do not wear much makeup, if any at all on the daily, so sitting still for hair/makeup is usually very "tiring" to me. The three hours went by so quickly and I was even able to receive an on-demand eyebrow consultation by Christy. I appreciate her honesty and her eye for what looks great on each person! Coming in with an open mind made the entire experience really enjoyable for me, much to my surprise as a non-makeup wearer.

I went with the Signature Bridal Glam Package with Christy Yoo, along with several bridal services (hair and makeup, only hair, only makeup) for some of my bridesmaids and one groomswoman. My mother also joined us in getting ready and was really happy with being able to have her specific preferences honored. Christy and her day-of team received the 8 of us total with such ease yet also such precision, and above all, professionalism. Christy went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable in my makeup decisions, especially when I had some day-of feedback for a change regarding my eyelashes.

Christy even stayed on a little later to help put on my veil and teach my bridesmaids how to take it off and how to help keep my hair looking great all evening long. She provided a touch up kit and even a fresh lippie and comb for me to have all day. She helped my mom out with her hanbok bow tie as well (traditional Korean formal dress), which is just...wow. Christy is the first person I sat across and talked to on my wedding day. She meets you wherever you are and goes at a pace that feels right and natural. When I look back on my big day, I think about all of the anxiety and stress that I DIDN'T feel because of how grounding and nurturing her energy is. And how beautiful her work is! Her team is amazing as well. I know that my husband and I will be cherishing her work through our photographs for the rest of our lives.

Christy was so supportive and nice in every way. As a nervous, type A bride, I wasn’t actually sure what I wanted for my makeup or hair, but I knew what I didn’t want. And we wet completely 180 from our trial HMU and did something completely different. But, she knew exactly what I wanted even when I didn’t know, and she totally delivered. She never once made me feel bad for not liking something. She and her team stayed well past the scheduled time and didn’t leave until everything was perfect and ready. She doesn’t nickel and dime, and she puts her art and bride’s happiness above all else. I felt more and more beautiful as the night went on and as more photos were being taken. I could not recommend Christy Yoo enough. From the trial to the wedding day, she was so easy to work with. She listened to all my concerns and truly brought my vision to life. I did not have a specific vision for my hair, and Christy talked with me, looked at my hair and at photos of my dress to help me find the perfect style for me. On the day of my actual wedding, she made sure the makeup was everything I wanted. We made a few small changes from the trial makeup and it turned out even more beautiful. She stuck around to help me during photos and after the ceremony. She was fixing my veil, my hair, and helping me with lipgloss. She also helped with my husbands hair since his can get kind of wild. She's also the easiest person to talk to, so she really brought some calm energy on the wedding day. I loved working with her!!
