Originally constructed in 1832, the Castle McCulloch not only boasts a rich history, but also singular spaces that provide true fairytale backdrops for a unique wedding day! Listed on the National Historic Monument registry, this beautiful castle was modeled after the elegant structures of Europe. The striking architecture of Castle McCulloch makes it a magnificent backdrop for exchanging your vows or dancing the night away. Here they will find stone walls, stained glass, and a magnificent ballroom space with a giant circular chandelier. This venue is located just 15 minutes from the Wet’n Wild Emerald Pointe Water Park and sits approximately 90 minutes outside of Raleigh.
Facilities and Capacity
Couples can invite up to 350 guests to their wedding at Castle McCulloch. This venue has a number of charming locations where couples can host their wedding.
The Great Hall: 75 Guests
The Great Hall on the first floor is a large room of wood and stone where couples can host their ceremony or reception. It seats up to 75 guests for a banquet dinner.Though the building is authentically historic and rich in European architecture, this room gives you all the modern amenities you desire while keeping in time with it’s origins. Take note of the leaded glass archway over the wooden door, leaded glass diamond-pane, leaded-glass windows, solid oak beams, the beautiful heart pine flooring, and stone walls. Take the winding stairway to get a closer look at the cathedral ceiling. Two wrought-iron chandeliers, tapestry and mirror accents inspire regal feelings to all who enter here! This room also connects to a large patio, The Great Hall Patio, perfect for overflow seating or a cocktail reception.
The Queen's Chambers: 56 Guests
With a separate entrance on the lower level of the castle's Great Hall, The Queen's Chambers consists of two rooms, an inner and outer chamber, which open into each other. Here, couples will find the Queen’s Chambers, a gorgeous location where up to 56 guests can congregate for a seated dinner. Warm and intimate, they are perfect for a variety of functions. The Queen's Chambers boasts beautiful high beamed ceilings, intricately leaded glass window panes, slate floors, and a pair of elegant, large bay windows that look out onto the sparkling lake.
The Crystal Garden Ballroom: 350 Guests
Rising on the hillside and overlooking the castle, you'll find the Crystal Garden Ballroom. For larger parties, the Crystal Garden ballroom seats up to 350 guests. Beveled leaded-glass walls are ornately accented with grecian columns, french doors, and a surrounding terrace. Beautiful by day and dazzling by night, this intricately detailed structure features an incredibly styled and sized (40 ft.) crystal chandelier - becoming the focal point of this ballroom with an unusual yet elegant suspended canopy ceiling! This space also connects to a large terrace, The Hillside Terrace. The Hillside Terrace Patio can be used for lovely outdoor ceremonies or intimate receptions of up to 80 guests.
Couples are welcome to use this venue for their ceremony and reception. For rehearsal dinners, couples are invited to exclusive use of the venue, a private section of the space, or a private room. Castle McCulloch also offers onsite parking and event rentals for couples on their wedding day. They can find the following event items available:
Full bar service is available to couples at this event venue. Bartenders serve liquors and beers of all varieties. Couples are also invited to provide outside cake for their wedding, giving them the option to design the exact type of dessert they want for their big day.

This place is magical. It's a castle!!! My wedding here was like a fairy tale wedding, it was everything I had imagined it to be and more. This venue is beautiful and oh so elegant. Our point of contact here was Paulette and she is great to work with. She really put in effort in making sure we had everything we wanted. The day of coordination by her staff was great too. Castle McCulloch has it all! Obviously an uber cool castle, but also lovely grounds with many photo opportunities! They also have a separate reception venue providing a totally different ambience for couples looking for modern elegance. Must see venue!
