Castaway Portland

Castaway Portland is such a fun venue to work with. Although industrial, it transforms into whatever your vision may be. I love the opportunities I get to use the space because the canvas always turns out different but always elegant.

This is an awesome venue in the heart of Portland's Pearl District. We have DJ'd here several times. It's pretty cool that client's can do so much with this space. They can have their ceremony inside or out and have a cocktail hour inside or out. There's a gorgeous view of the Fremont Bridge from this space and lots of other cool photos in and around the building's property line. The space itself is very industrial with all the modern amenities that one would need in venue space. There are very nice rest rooms facilities and a nice dance light system preinstalled. We love to work here and we're sure you will love having your wedding here as well.

Castaway is one of my favorite venues in the Portland area, and I've had the pleaser of shooting there twice! on both of these they have been very accommodating to me and the rest of the venders. Castaway is also a very versatile space, as I've come to find during the times I was there. The first was for a wedding back on 10/18/15. It was a relatively bright day and they, and they had the lights down low to create this wonderfully romantic and moody vibe. Those factors made it harder to take photos, but also made for very rewarding and beautiful high contrast photos. The second event was for a Kickstarter party on 02/12/16, this time they did a great job to accommodate the industrial feel that the client was going for. And a very unique feature of this venue (due to its industrial style) is that you can have something like a food cart pull right up along the side of the space, as well as have venders actually pull right into the middle of the space. A word to other venders: If you are one that has a lot of stuff to bring in, you will love how accessible the space is. And specifically to photographers and videographers: if it's bright outside be ready to work with a lot of contrast, as the space is generally pretty dark as artificial light goes.
