Cascade Live Events DJ'ed and organized the audio and lighting at our wedding in Southern Vermont. We could not recommend them more highly. Here is a list of reasons why you should hire Cascade Live Events. 

First, they are great for couples who don't know much about music (I cannot speak to being a couple that has any musical knowledge). Mike (the emcee and sound system operator) spent time getting to know my wife and me so that he could curate a perfect playlist. I gave Mike vague directions, but Chris (the DJ) seemed to have a sixth sense for knowing exactly what music we wanted. The playlist was an absolute hit—the best night of dancing of our lives. In particular, Chris can blend music for a crowd with diverse preferences. We had 180 people at our wedding. Chris had everyone dancing to artists from Lil Nas X to The Beatles—and the transitions between them were seamless.  

Second, Mike is prepared and responsive. Mike sent us a proposed playlist with enough time for us to review it and give feedback. We did have some feedback, and Mike and Chris responded to it perfectly. I cannot emphasize this point enough. A couple will be unusually lucky to find a DJ who can, on the first try, curate a perfect playlist for a guest list with a wide array of preferences. That is why it is so important to have someone who sends you a draft in a timely fashion and responds well to feedback. And it is why the playlist that actually played at our wedding was 100% amazing. 

Third, the lighting and audio were amazing. Mike also coordinated the audio for our outdoor ceremony. The audio was flawless. Our guests perfectly heard our officiant, our readers, and our vows. During the dancing, the lighting was brilliant. We also had a live guitarist for the ceremony, and Mike offered to let the guitarist plug into Mike's audio system. 

Fourth, Mike and Chris are extremely professional. I mentioned above that Mike spent time getting to know my wife and me. But he was also incredibly responsive to emails, sent (very manageable) surveys, and kept our preferences in mind for the entire evening. For example, we did not want any line dances at our wedding. When a guest requested one, Mike tactfully steered the guest toward musical choices that we wanted to hear.

If you are looking for DJs who will curate your music vibe perfectly, keep the party going all night long, and also be fun and super professional people, look no further than Cascade Live Events! Mike and Gabe were so nice and prepared for our big day. They brought music and microphones to three different locations onsite for us to have music/mics at our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. We sent in some guiding playlists for the reception and a pretty specific music request for our ceremony and they executed it all flawlessly (which made for the most magical recessional!). We told them we wanted to be on the dance floor with our friends all night and they seriously played hit after hit after hit! We truly only left the dance floor for bathroom breaks and drink refills. We also had the package with party lights and SERIOUSLY, it's so worth it to make your dance floor feel inviting and fun! Even our photographer and wedding coordinator complimented Mike and Gabe for being extra collaborative with them, especially when we were running a little behind schedule. Lastly, we are two brides and Mike always made us feel welcome and accepted throughout the booking/communication process and of course, the wedding day itself. We could not be happier with our choice of DJ; the rest of the wedding weekend, we, along with our friends/family, kept saying how we wished we could do it all again for another night on that dance floor! It was truly the best party of our lives, all thanks to Cascade Live Events!

Having Cascade Live Events as our DJ vendor was easy, affordable, fun, affirming, and common-sense. We booked Mike Steltz, Co-Founder, as our DJ. Where to start!

First off, Mike was SO affordable for what we were looking for; we built a custom package based on our specific needs, and he was flexible + priced it reasonably.

Second, Mike was flexible and chill about changes along the way; we postponed a year due to COVID concerns, and after a quick chat he promptly sent us a subcontract confirming the new dates. No hassle at all! And day-of he was laid-back and professional when inclement weather forced us to relocate the dance floor.

We also want to note that as an LGBT couple Cascade Live Events felt LGBT friendly + affirming. We were transparent about ourselves from the first conversation, and explained we also had a lot of LGBT community coming; Mike used our pronouns, was comfortable + enjoyed playing the queer music we asked for, and worked hard to make us + our guests feel comfortable and affirmed the day of. Mike is NOT your corny old man DJ playing at a long island wedding (lol): he is young, super chill, and easy to work with.

Fourth, Mike did a good job staying in touch with the audience on the dance floor. He played the tunes we asked for, but he didn't act as a living spotify playlist; he remixed some FIRE tunes, and pulled from similar genres+time periods to keep the energy up on the dance floor. He was in tune with the vibe of the party! At our request he had obscure gay club songs AND interspersed more familiar tunes. As a testiment to Mike's skills the dance floor was open for 3 hours and even though we had a small guest count we had 9 people dancing till the very end.

Cannot recommend this vendor highly enough!

(Side note: it was important to us that all our vendors had dinner, breaks, and a fun time too. Cascade Live Events did have dinner written in their contract, but not everyone did. Vendors are also human beings, and they were integral parts of our wedding! We encourage all wedding couples, regardless of who they book [tho u SHOULD book Cascade Live Events lol], to also be considerate and chill with their vendors. It makes a huge difference & reduces stress for everyone the day of. :))

We are SO happy we went with Cascade Live Events! Going into our wedding, I mostly just hoped the DJ experience would be smooth and they'd play fun music; after our wedding, I am blown away by how much the Cascade Live team became a core memory from our weekend! Mike was incredible to work with throughout the planning process - he was prompt and professional at all times, offered great suggestions, and adapted the plan to whatever we wanted. Honestly, we liked working with him so much that we were sad to learn he wouldn't be the DJ himself at our wedding - but then we met Slade and Eddie on our day of, and they were truly phenomenal. They brought so much joy and energy to the dance floor without making it about themselves - seriously, they looked like they were having the time of their lives, and our guests absolutely loved them. Could not recommend highly enough!

From the very first contact with Cascade Live Events, they were very quick, professional, and personable with their response. All the questions that Rachel and I had were answered completely and directly.
On the day of our wedding, they showed up exactly when they said they would. We got to meet Mike and Ethan, and after exchanging handshakes, they went right to work with the venue, setting up all speakers and microphones. All the music requests for the processional, and the reception were perfectly set up and accommodated all of our needs with no need for any direction from us. The timing for speeches and music went perfectly. They were even able to accommodate us with an extra hour of music on the Dance floor the day of. All we had to do was give them our taste in music genres, and they ran with it and read the room perfectly.

We do not have enough good things to say about Mike and his Team! From our initial call to the last song of the night, Mike kept us informed and at ease. Our friends and family were on the dance floor all night with Mike working his magic behind the DJ booth. We could not be happier that we chose Cascade Live Events for our wedding--Mike truly helped make it a day we will never forget!

Mike and the whole team at Cascade are AMAZING! From the moment we reached out to them, everything throughout the process was easy, seamless, and so supportive. The DJ setup was incredibly professional and high tech, while not overbearing or overwhelming. Everyone at the wedding, from our friends to our grandparents, had a great time with the music from start to finish, and the Cascade team was very receptive to shaping the playlist to our desired vibe. They hit it perfectly, despite it being difficult to articulate exactly what we wanted! Mike is an incredibly smooth and natural MC, which made the whole day run together very naturally. I never expected this from my DJ, but he was an incredibly calming presence throughout the day, helping us and our officiant work through logistics and feel more comfortable whenever we saw him. The audio setup for the ceremony was top tier, with crystal clear speakers and a professional-level wireless setup for our officiant. Cascade was able to support all of our band's audio needs in a remote area, and they were even able to bring along a big-screen TV to project some our own videos and pictures. Payment was easy and the communication process leading up to the event was clear, proactive, and professional. I couldn't have asked for a better overall experience and highly recommend Cascade for anyone and any event!

Chris and Ethan did an amazing job as the DJ and MC for our wedding! All of our guests commented on how fun and perfect the music was during the event. Chris made sure to play the type of music that we wanted when we wanted it, and was frequently in touch to make sure that everything was perfect for our special day. Highly recommend this wonderful company for all of your wedding entertainment needs!

The whole team was a pleasure to collaborate with from start to finish. Mike and Chris showed an extremely high level of professionalism, fast to respond, and precise with our details. This being my second wedding and interviewing many other DJs, I knew what to look for and Mike quickly stood out to me. He’s the only DJ who prides himself in audio quality and clarity and with having an outdoor ceremony, it was important to us for our guests to actually hear our ceremony. How many times have you attended a ceremony only to barely hear anything from the bride and groom? Probably too many. I talked with guests who sat in the back and they had zero issues hearing anything. This was also the first wedding that Cascade had at our venue, and even then, their setup was professional and they were ready for any challenge.

Not only the ceremony, but the reception was also flawless. Mike was a lively MC, very energetic with all our guests, and knew how to work the room. Mike and Chris took our playlists, worked off of them, and flowed them with the vibe of the room. They are collaborative in nature and played a great mix of songs. The whole team was partying themselves while DJ’ing and we all definitely feed off of DJs also having a great time. Another add-on we had was having Chris drum along to the songs towards the later half of the reception. It added a completely different aspect I never experienced at weddings that gives familiar songs a new feel. Chris even had us drum along (despite me and my wife having no rhythm haha).

Those were the details and we have no regrets with going with the Cascade team. From the first conversation all the way until the end of the wedding, we were fully confident and ecstatic with working with Mike, Chris, and Slade!
