Rose Hart is a wonderful stylist at Capristos. I have seen her for the past two years for hair styling and spray tanning. She is very creative and is a perfectionist. On my wedding day, she was cool, calm, and collected. I trust her, and I left everything in her hands. She didn’t rush and used her time to ensure that her time to ensure I satisfied with her work. She work with my hair, make up, and spray tanning made me feel confident on my special day. I have been to a list of stylists over the years, but Rose is the best by far.

Julia did my hair for my bridal shower and my wedding and they turned out really lovely both days. I went in not knowing at all what I wanted to do and she walked me through it both times. She is easy to talk to and I enjoyed her company. I felt very much at ease on an otherwise stressful day. The ONE thing I didn't have a vision for was my hair and thankfully, Julia knew just what to do. As we went through different ideas and styles she never was insulted when I said let's just move on. Great service, great price. Even better personality.

Anita, from Capristo, was my hairstylist leading up to and on my wedding day. She worked with me to find the perfect red hair color, and for those of you who go red you know how difficult this can be. I colored the day before my engagement photo shoot and was worried that my red was too brassy, Anita came in early and did a neutralizing wash on my hair and it was GORGEOUS in the shoot.

On our actual wedding day, Anita traveled to our venue to fix my bridesmaids hair, my hair, and my mothers hair. The best part of the day, was how GORGEOUS she made my mother look. Her hair is very fine, and Anita was able to give it the bounce, body, and shine that was just fantastic. My bridesmaids all had very different ideas on what they wanted their hair to look like, and Anita was able to accommodate and please them all (which we know is a difficult thing to do in a group of opinionated women).

My hair was breathtaking. I received more compliments on my hair than I did on my dress! It was fantastic and not once did I have anything but absolute trust in her talents. I never worried about any of our hair because I knew we were in very talented hands and being able to feel confident that one part of your big day with go off without a hitch is priceless!

I had my hair and makeup done at Capristo Salon for my wedding. Kim did my hair, and it was beautiful! I had so many compliments from guests about how much they loved my hair! Her attention to detail was so appreciated! Rose did my makeup, and she was lovely! She clearly cared that I liked my makeup, and that I was comfortable with it. These women are very professional, and they made the morning of my wedding a joy!

I had a wedding hair and makeup trial done at Capristo Salon. I had the impression that they were a slightly upscale salon in Shadyside and that they were experienced with bridal services. They were nice and I'm sure that under different circumstances, they would have done a fine job. However, I did not end up booking them for my wedding day due to the following events:

I had a very specific hairstyle in mind. Everyone told me that a particular hairdresser was the only one who could do it, and so they made my appointment with her. As she was doing my hair, other hairdressers kept coming up and saying, "ooh, it looks great, only [insert my hairdresser's name here] can do this style." After two hours in the chair, she said, "so, when is your wedding again?". When I told her, she said, "oh no, I'm going to be out of the country then!" This, despite me telling them my wedding date at the time that I made the appointment and when I walked in for my appointment. Being in the last couple of months of wedding planning, my money (I had to pay for the trial) and time was valuable, and so I was quite upset that I had wasted both at the salon. I mean, who makes a bridal hair trial appointment without making sure they can do the actual event? They were all apologetic, and arranged for me to come in for another trial the next week after my hairdresser had a chance to teach the technique to a different person. I did it, and she did a pretty good job, but it wasn't nearly as nice as the first time around and I was still so ticked about wasting so much time that I decided not to book for my wedding day.

I ended up going to another salon for my hair. I went to Sephora for a consultation for makeup, bought some key supplies and had a friend do my makeup on the day. Both of these options were cheaper than Capristo and ended up working out just fine. The bottom line: I'm sure others will have good experiences with Capristo, but make sure you triple-check that they can actually do it on your wedding day!
