I've ordered cakes from CCB twice: once for my vegan mother's birthday (vanilla/vanilla), and once for my wedding (carrot/cream cheese). The wedding cake, it should be noted, was just a regular cake-- I didn't have them do anything special with it, as we had a "cake bar" instead of a traditional wedding cake.
They were great to work with, if at time difficult to get a hold of. The staff is very small, so sometimes the phone goes unanswered and it can take a day or two to get your email returned, but your persistence will be rewarded. They were very polite and eager to give me a great experience each time. I was able to pay in advance and have someone else pick up the cake, which was awesome.
The best part was the cake itself. No one at my wedding knew the carrot cake was vegan (I mean, other than the vegans I had made sure to tell so they could have cake), and everyone commented on how moist and delicious it was. The frosting is so rich, and you would never know it contains no actual cream cheese!
One quibble: I chose the carrot cake for my wedding after doing a tasting with a friend of mine of basically every cupcake they sell. Some of the frostings on their flavored cupcakes (thinking of the lemon and strawberry) taste very artificial to me, like they are using strong flavoring and not fruit. The strawberry frosting tasted more "pink" to us than anything else. That's the reason for the deducted star.

I really like capital city's pastries, cupcakes, etc. We had them do our wedding cake. The quality of
Cake was great, but the design seemed to be done haphazardly. I sent photos to show what we needed to the pastry chef owner, But instead the design ended up looking Like an animated cartoon. I also noticed they did not show our cake on their Instagram like they do with most of their wedding cakes. I'm not sure they were very happy with the final product either. We paid close to $400 and I expected more. We ordered some gluten free cupcakes and asked that the box be labeled but they forgot to label them.
So people who wanted gluten free could not have any cupcakes because the regular chocolate was not labeled separately from the gluten free chocolate. I was
Promised that they would be labeled.
Also the owner can be difficult to get a hold of, but she is always apologetic about not calling or emailing back. But there were times where I had to reach out 3-4 times before I got a call back.
