I (briefly) considered doing the flowers for my wedding myself, but decided against it for the following reasons:
1. We had 20 tables plus the bridal party. That's a lot of flowers to buy, trim, arrange and transport.
2. I didn't want to spend the morning of the wedding (or the day prior) stripping stems. Our goal for the wedding weekend was to spend as much time with our guests as possible.
3. I didn't want to schlep water-filled buckets from the flower mart downtown to my house, then haul the finished product to the event site. Even if you order a flower kit online, you have to figure out how to get everything to your wedding and how to store it beforehand. Fine if you've got a walk-in cooler in your house, but not easy for the typical condo dweller.
4. I didn't want to take any time off from work to put this together. I'd much rather spend those precious vacation days on the honeymoon.
5. The time and money I would have spent procuring and preparing the raw materials would have been more than what I spent with Canoga Park Florist.

Vendors tend to jack up prices for wedding-related things, by as much as 30% in some cases, so I was on guard when I started calling around for vendors. With Shabbir, the owner of Canoga Park Florist, I didn't have to worry. He gave me fantastic prices and charged a fraction what I've heard others pay for flowers. There was no "consultation fee," or any other hidden cost, and he only charged me $7 to deliver everything the day of the wedding.

Shabbir is not only reasonably priced, but responsive. I'd called all of my vendors in the two weeks before the event to triple-check everyone's arrival time and instructions; Shabbir was the only vendor to call ME, instead of the other way around. It was a pleasant surprise. He also checked in after the wedding to make sure we were satisfied with his work.

Overall, working with Shabbir was a great experience and if I had to do it over, I'd hire him again.
