I can't believe it's been almost a year since my wedding, and I'm just now writing this review! I found myself reflecting on our special day recently and realized I never properly thanked Kate Thompson publicly for the incredible job she did.
Kate's photography style is absolutely timeless and she has an amazing eye for capturing the best candid moments. Looking through our wedding photos, she perfectly captured all the genuine emotions and spontaneous moments that made our day so special- the ones you don't even realize are happening in the moment but are so grateful to have forever.
From our very first conversation, Kate's communication and professionalism were excellent. She was always prompt with responses, clear about expectations, and made the entire process feel effortless. On both our rehearsal dinner and wedding day, she was so easy to work with. She knew exactly when to step in for those important shots but also when to blend into the background to capture those natural moments.
Kate delivered our photos right on time and worked seamlessly with all of our other vendors. Everyone commented on how professional and collaborative she was, which made the whole day run so smoothly.
Nearly a year later, we still find ourselves going through our photos and discovering new favorite shots. If you're looking for a photographer who will capture your day beautifully while making the experience stress free, I cannot recommend Kate Thompson enough!

We found Kate through a referral by a friend of a good friend. Looking for a wedding photographer, we wanted to balance both beautiful photos in a style we love and someone who we would enjoy being alongside for our whole wedding day. A great photographer can really make or break those special moments on your wedding day. Kate made them all even better.
In the weeks and months leading up to our wedding, we had a number of conversations to get to know Kate, her style, and share our hopes for our wedding photographer. She is warm, calming, easy going, and knowledgeable. Kate is a clear communicator and knows exactly what questions to ask you ahead of time to ensure that she delivers what you’re looking for while navigating all of the nuances of family pressures on such a big day.

As a documentary style photographer, Kate gracefully balances being a fly on the wall and directing you and your family when necessary. She captures the organic moments of connection and joy that are already happening between you and your loved ones, without disrupting the moment at all. She ensures she’s in the exact right location to get the perfect picture. Kate is both a calming presence throughout the day and disappears into the background, which allows you to be comfortable and yourself in those special moments, which in turn allows Kate to capture your genuine emotions. Looking at our pictures, they feel alive and feel like she captured the real me, as I felt in those moments. It’s such a unique skill to not only take beautiful photos, but also make space for genuine life and emotions to shine.

She captures these special moments, all while allowing you to be fully present. She was recommended to me and once I saw her photos on her website, I knew she was the one. Then I talked to her on the phone and extra knew she was the one. Her demeanor is so easy going, reassuring and knowledgeable. On my wedding day, she was such a warm presence to have around. Yet also somehow you never knew she was there. She observes the moments and let’s them unfold while capturing their essence. She captured photos of our two excitable pups and made them look calm and collected. Remember how I said how you feel the moments of others weddings? Imagine when you are looking at the photos from your own. When I (quickly) received my photos, I couldn’t believe it. My heart, it felt like I was just back there! She captured moments I didn’t know were unwinding. She captured the raw emotions on all of our faces. My family and friends have told me her photos are the best they have ever seen from a wedding and I feel the exact same way. Thank you Kate for allowing us to relive the most amazing day of our life over and over again and feel just like we did on that day! And everyone else, book Kate ASAP!

We splurged with Betty Clicker, since the rest of our wedding was on a pretty tight budget. It was absolutely money well spent. Our photos are perfect, and genuinely capture the emotions of the day, far beyond posed portraits. I look forward to hiring Kate to photograph other life events as they happen! She's also just plain a lovely person and I wish I lived in Richmond so we could be friends.

Kate is not only a wonderful photographer but an amazing lady! She made us feel completely comfortable and made sure we had fun during our shoot. Book Betty Clicker Photography as soon as you get engaged! It cost us a good chunk of our wedding budget, but it was SO worth every single penny for the amazing wedding photos we received. These are the kinds of photos you want to blow up and put in your house-- the kind that don't seem forced or posed, the kind that show every emotion of that moment. Working with Kate was a joy-- she is the nicest, calmest, coolest person, and she is one of the best photographers I've ever known. We have gotten so many compliments on our pictures from so many people-- even random Facebook friends we haven't talked to in years. Book her! and if she's unavailable, just change your wedding date. Trust me on this.

We found Kate (Betty Clicker) online after searching for and studying the work of (we think) every established wedding photographer in the Richmond area. Kate's photographs appealed to us at first because we were not only looking for someone who took beautiful photos, but someone who took photos that truly captured the essence of an occasion - pictures that felt real rather than posed. We stalked the Betty Clicker website for quite some time, and the more pictures that Kate uploaded, the more we fell in love with her work. Unique, artistic, special pictures that bring out beauty in all kinds of people and places.

For engagement photos, Kate struck a great balance of listening / accommodating what we wanted, with helping us create a shot out of nothing when we were at a loss. On the day of the actual wedding, Kate executed flawlessly - she captured every important moment, taking charge when she needed to, and all without being overly noticeable. Her price was mid-to-high end, but the value of the final product made the price well worth it.

Aside from being a natural with a camera, Kate is a genuine, caring, detail-oriented person. We really enjoyed working with her on a personal level, and she has our highest recommendation to anyone in search of a photographer.

I feel so so lucky to have had Kate photograph our wedding. To backtrack through the process a little, I started looking at photographers around the Richmond area via WeddingWire and a couple other sites. I swear I stopped looking after I saw Kate's work. I was struck by the way she photographed landscapes/nature and lovely candid moments between couples. I shot her an e-mail asking for more information and she was quick to respond and so sweet over e-mail and phone. She made everything easy for me, and I was planning our Richmond wedding from Houston so that was HUGE. Our first meeting was wonderful-we had no idea what to expect and she walked us through everything while we sipped coffee and tried different breads because she's friends with the owners of Sub Rosa Bakery and they needed taste testers for one of their loafs :) At the meeting we set up the engagement session, which was wonderful! She was super flexible with scheduling because we weren't sure about the weather. It was in January and was COLD and she still took her time with shots and thought of amazing compositions on the spot. I've never had professional photos done and felt pretty awkward about it but she (and my goober husband) made me feel so comfortable and we ended up having a lot of fun! Fast forward to the wedding and Kate killed it!! She's just so easy to be around and worked so well with all of the other vendors. It was a total dream. My whole family will treasure her photos for years to come! I recommend her services to everyone for every occasion, not just weddings. Nothing compares to the way she can capture a moment.

Kate Thompson is a dream to work with, and we are so very grateful that she elected to take us on as clients! From our very first correspondence to the day of our wedding to the insane two-week turnaround on our extraordinary wedding photoset (!!), her flexibility, kindness, low-key warmth, and no-drama style had us counting our lucky stars at every turn.

How do we count the ways? Though based in Richmond, she traveled to DC for free, skipped from locale to locale shooting wedding events with professionalism and grace, and even scouted shooting locations in advance of our morning wedding. She offers flexible photography packages for those with less-than-all-day events, and tailored her package still further so we could get more time with her! Friendly and easy-going with our flexible timeline, she showed up on time, directed when we needed direction and fell back when we did not, and made EVERYONE who was photographed, from camera-awkward me to my camera-shy mother-in-law, feel comfortable and look great. (Introverted couples: Kate is your girl.) She started sharing quick preview shots of the wedding on the day-of (!) and trickled them out over the short weeks to come before the final photoset landed — something we as a couple absolutely loved, since people who weren't in attendance could connect with her gorgeous shots in real time.

More than anything else, though, there are her photos, which speak for themselves, in volumes. Kate is a true artist, a kind spirit, and a dream to work with. We can't wait to work with her again!
