Beauty with Cherie

A little belated review for my experience with Cherie in early September. I actually found Cherie while I was scrolling through Instagram, looking for a hair and makeup artist for my tea ceremony. I was looking for an artist who did more natural looking makeup, and after looking at Cherie’s portfolio, I knew I found the artist I wanted to work with.

My mom went along with me for the hair and makeup trial, and she and Cherie hit it off - making jokes, laughing, and just having a great time. I had a general idea of how I wanted my hair and makeup, but I trusted Cherie to do her thing - trust and let the artist do what they do best. I shared pictures with some members of the wedding party, and they really liked how Cherie did my hair and makeup - glam but not overly done, accenting my natural looks. Cherie is so kind and was always responsive to my questions, even though it would take me a while before I would get back to her emails. She provided detailed instructions for hair and skin prep, and her team (Jaylyn and Leslie) were so amazing and fun to work with. Cherie is also super personable - it’s like you’re talking to a really good friend, and she always made sure that I was comfortable and at ease.

The night before my tea ceremony, I felt bad because I was texting Cherie pretty late (around 11pm), sending her photos and instructions on where to park and how to get to the Airbnb (since there was only street parking). The day of, Cherie arrived around 5:15am, ready to set up and start working. I had told Cherie that I was feeling anxious, but her presence and energy helped to calm my nerves (the soothing music she put on in the background also helped!).

EVERYBODY kept talking about how pretty I looked, and how the makeup and hair looked so amazing. My mom kept complimenting on how Cherie did such a better job with my makeup for the tea ceremony (than for the trial); my cousins complimented the highlighter that she used; my uncle said I looked really nice, and his wife said she didn’t recognize me (in a good way!); and my fiance said I looked really pretty. My makeup held up for the entire day - the traditional tea ceremony at the bride’s parents’ house, heading over to the groom’s parents’ house for photos and lunch, and the aftermath of cleaning up.

Cherie is truly passionate about her craft and making others look and feel beautiful and amazing. She’s super down-to-earth and displays absolute professionalism - being punctual, responsive, and detail-oriented.

Thank you so much Cherie for making me look and feel beautiful for my tea ceremony. I would absolutely recommend Cherie for anyone looking for an amazing artist who can help keep you calm while making you look stunning. I definitely hope our paths cross again!

Cherie is the most sweet, skilled, and thorough HMUA I know!

I remember wanting to change HMUAs after my trial with the one I found. My previous one was skilled, but a little voice in my head said that I wanted someone who would be more kind and supportive on my big day. Feeling anxious, I kept scrolling online to find anyone who might be it. I found Cherie’s name in a random Reddit comment, and they only wrote one short sentence about her, saying that she was the best, but my intuition told me she might be the one!

The trial with was night and day in comparison. Cherie put soothing music in the background, and the vibes were so inviting and professional. Not only that, I love Cherie’s gentle, soothing personality! It was nice talking about life with her as she did her thing, always stopping to ask what I want and even offering to try different lashes / hairstyles until we get it just right. I signed my contract with her right away!!

Throughout the year, she responded so quickly and clearly to my emails. Not only that, she’d make sure to ask me how I’m doing or give me non-makeup related advice when I ask, such as what wedding jewelry to wear, where to look for a videographer, etc. I also love how organized she is, going as far as to make and update the wedding day schedule with estimated times for my bridesmaids’ hair & makeup. She even gave me a list of makeup artists (along with their IG profiles) when the one I selected couldn’t make it, which made picking a new one so easy!!

Of course, on the day of the wedding, Cherie (and her HMUA assistant Jaylyn) went above and beyond! I was a crying mess the morning of the wedding due to nerves, but Cherie gave me space to calm myself while she and Jaylyn went right to work on my bridesmaids. When I collected myself, she comforted me while doing my makeup and hair, assuring me that the wedding day will go well. This was exactly the gentleness and emotional encouragement I needed to start my day, and I thank Cherie for being like a big sister to me and someone I could count on.

Cherie even helped me put on my wedding bracelet for pictures and noticed how it fell differently on my wrist, so she made sure to adjust it for me (I don’t think I know anyone else who’s this perceptive)!! And she was like a proud HMUA mom, taking photos of me and the gals with the wedding photographer, haha! It was so wholesome :)

Of course the makeup and hair were amazing (she even did research the night before to prepare and improve on anything for the look), and they looked better than the trial! The makeup stayed on my face all day despite me crying multiple times, and my hair was still in tact despite me sweating and being outside!

I still have her cute goodie bag of makeup retouching items she gave me as a lovely memento of her services and time spent that morning. If she’s in your area, book Cherie—you will not regret it!! I’m so happy we can keep in touch 💛

I'm so grateful to Cherie for my wedding day hair & makeup! Cherie was super thorough with the details so that everything was just perfect and exactly how I imagined. Despite my requests being a little all over the place (natural but ethereal? dewy? just kidding, matte?? SPIKY MANGA LASHES), she absolutely understood the vision!

Cherie is so easy to be comfortable with and goes above and beyond to help make sure everything goes smoothly, even helping my sister pin up her hair though she wasn't getting a hair service done. Her advice from the trial (extensions, face masks) was so valuable and I feel they made a big impact on the outcome of the look.

She made me look like a fairy princess and it lasted all day and night (despite me being terrible at "soft smiles"). Thank you so much Cherie!

Cherie did my hair & makeup and it turned out perfectly I felt very confident and beautiful on my wedding day! She was very soft spoken & calm. She is very good at asking questions and making sure that I like my look and my hair. I definitely recommend her! she's truly talented and amazing!

I hired Cherie for my traditional Tea Ceremony. After the event, I told my bridesmaids that i wish i hired her for my actual wedding day. She was incredible from start to finish. She brought her own music and staged me in an area where i got to watch the sunrise while she did my makeup. Her makeup was beautiful and lasted me all day/night. I highly recommend Cherie if you want someone who is intentional, kind, calm, and knows how to work with you in a professional manner. I also really appreciated her ability to understand my Vietnamese family and background, thus understanding the type of makeup I wanted for my special event. Thank you so much Cherie for everything that you did that day! You helped me feel grounded and settled before getting married.

Cherie was hands down one of the best vendors I hired for my wedding. Our original hair and makeup artist stopped responding, and Cherie stepped in just one week before the wedding and completely saved us. She immediately jumped on a call, was reassuring, flexible, and helped us figure everything out right away.

She did hair and makeup for my mom, the groom’s mom, his sister, and cousin, and even helped with unplanned touch-ups for my sister. Everyone had different styles and preferences, and she really took the time to customize each look and listen to feedback as she worked.

My mom especially loved her. She prefers very natural makeup and can be sensitive to anything too heavy, but she kept talking about how beautiful and natural her skin looked. Cherie was so patient with her and even helped her feel comfortable wearing hair extensions for the first time, and bonus points for speaking Vietnamese with my mom to help her feel at ease.

She was punctual, organized (even traveling between two locations), and brought such a calm, grounding energy to the day. The hair and makeup lasted all day and photographed beautifully.

I would 100% recommend Cherie and would hire her again, I'm so grateful we crossed paths. Thank you Cherie for saving the day and making our wedding day go so wonderfully.

Cherie is the BEST! I loved working with her!! She's so easy to talk to and she did everything to ensure I was happy with my look. She listened to all my wants and needs, and totally went above and beyond to help me find a good lipstick color! It didn't even feel like she was my hair and make-up artist to be honest. The experience was so enjoyable that it felt like she was a friend who was just helping me out haha. She was also so sweet; since I was eloping, she filled the shoes of my bridesmaid even and helped me with my dress and everything, giving me advice on which earrings to wear, sending me off, etc. :') She was just the best. HIGHLY recommend!!

I truly cannot put into words how grateful I am for Cherie! I stumbled upon her Instagram when I was in the looks for the perfect MUA for my wedding and could instantly feel her beautiful soul through her work. From the very first moment I attended my bridal trial, I knew instantly that she was the one. As soon as she arrived on my wedding day, she brought such a calming, kind, and positive energy that made the whole morning feel so special and stress-free. Cherie’s kindness, warmth, and genuine care made one of the most important mornings of my life truly special from the very first moment. She has such a calming presence about her that while she was working her magic and we were chatting away she eased my pre wedding jitters.

My makeup was everything I dreamed of and more — it was flawless, photographed beautifully, and lasted perfectly all night through happy tears, hugs, dancing, and everything in between. I received so many compliments throughout the entire day and night, which made me feel so confident and radiant on such an important day. My bridesmaids also looked absolutely stunning and couldn’t stop raving about how much they loved their makeup. Each one of them felt seen and cared for, which meant the world to me.

Cherie didn’t just do makeup — she helped make my wedding day feel magical. I will forever be thankful for her and would recommend her a million times over to any bride looking for not only talent, but genuinely wonderful people. Thank you again to the amazing Cherie!!

Cherie is an incredible, talented HMUA, and such a beautiful soul. She is a deeply caring person, which was reflected in the way she got to know me during our session, and paid attention/took notes on the smallest details I shared about my personality, style, and preferences. She also has no ego about her work at all, and was incredibly supportive and open to making adjustments as we went. I booked my trial for the day we were having our engagement photos done, which ended up being great, because I could tell her what I liked and what I wanted adjusted for the wedding day, based on how the photos turned out.

On the day of the wedding, Cherie was an incredibly calming presence, and she didn't miss a single note I'd sent her over email/text since the last time I'd seen her. She was also great with my Vietnamese family, which was a lovely bonus! My hair and makeup lasted all night, and I got so many compliments about what an amazing job she'd done. I would absolutely recommend Cherie to anyone looking for a highly skilled and meticulous HMUA with a great eye--and a great heart! Thank you, Cherie!!
