A little belated review for my experience with Cherie in early September. I actually found Cherie while I was scrolling through Instagram, looking for a hair and makeup artist for my tea ceremony. I was looking for an artist who did more natural looking makeup, and after looking at Cherie’s portfolio, I knew I found the artist I wanted to work with.
My mom went along with me for the hair and makeup trial, and she and Cherie hit it off - making jokes, laughing, and just having a great time. I had a general idea of how I wanted my hair and makeup, but I trusted Cherie to do her thing - trust and let the artist do what they do best. I shared pictures with some members of the wedding party, and they really liked how Cherie did my hair and makeup - glam but not overly done, accenting my natural looks. Cherie is so kind and was always responsive to my questions, even though it would take me a while before I would get back to her emails. She provided detailed instructions for hair and skin prep, and her team (Jaylyn and Leslie) were so amazing and fun to work with. Cherie is also super personable - it’s like you’re talking to a really good friend, and she always made sure that I was comfortable and at ease.
The night before my tea ceremony, I felt bad because I was texting Cherie pretty late (around 11pm), sending her photos and instructions on where to park and how to get to the Airbnb (since there was only street parking). The day of, Cherie arrived around 5:15am, ready to set up and start working. I had told Cherie that I was feeling anxious, but her presence and energy helped to calm my nerves (the soothing music she put on in the background also helped!).
EVERYBODY kept talking about how pretty I looked, and how the makeup and hair looked so amazing. My mom kept complimenting on how Cherie did such a better job with my makeup for the tea ceremony (than for the trial); my cousins complimented the highlighter that she used; my uncle said I looked really nice, and his wife said she didn’t recognize me (in a good way!); and my fiance said I looked really pretty. My makeup held up for the entire day - the traditional tea ceremony at the bride’s parents’ house, heading over to the groom’s parents’ house for photos and lunch, and the aftermath of cleaning up.
Cherie is truly passionate about her craft and making others look and feel beautiful and amazing. She’s super down-to-earth and displays absolute professionalism - being punctual, responsive, and detail-oriented.

I'm so grateful to Cherie for my wedding day hair & makeup! Cherie was super thorough with the details so that everything was just perfect and exactly how I imagined. Despite my requests being a little all over the place (natural but ethereal? dewy? just kidding, matte?? SPIKY MANGA LASHES), she absolutely understood the vision!
Cherie is so easy to be comfortable with and goes above and beyond to help make sure everything goes smoothly, even helping my sister pin up her hair though she wasn't getting a hair service done. Her advice from the trial (extensions, face masks) was so valuable and I feel they made a big impact on the outcome of the look.
She made me look like a fairy princess and it lasted all day and night (despite me being terrible at "soft smiles"). Thank you so much Cherie! -

Perfect Day & Wonderful Hair & Makeup by Cherie
Cherie did my hair & makeup and it turned out perfectly I felt very confident and beautiful on my wedding day! She was very soft spoken & calm. She is very good at asking questions and making sure that I like my look and my hair. I definitely recommend her! she's truly talented and amazing!

I hired Cherie for my traditional Tea Ceremony. After the event, I told my bridesmaids that i wish i hired her for my actual wedding day. She was incredible from start to finish. She brought her own music and staged me in an area where i got to watch the sunrise while she did my makeup. Her makeup was beautiful and lasted me all day/night. I highly recommend Cherie if you want someone who is intentional, kind, calm, and knows how to work with you in a professional manner. I also really appreciated her ability to understand my Vietnamese family and background, thus understanding the type of makeup I wanted for my special event. Cherie was hands down one of the best vendors I hired for my wedding. Our original hair and makeup artist stopped responding, and Cherie stepped in just one week before the wedding and completely saved us. She immediately jumped on a call, was reassuring, flexible, and helped us figure everything out right away.
She did hair and makeup for my mom, the groom’s mom, his sister, and cousin, and even helped with unplanned touch-ups for my sister. Everyone had different styles and preferences, and she really took the time to customize each look and listen to feedback as she worked.
My mom especially loved her. She prefers very natural makeup and can be sensitive to anything too heavy, but she kept talking about how beautiful and natural her skin looked. Cherie was so patient with her and even helped her feel comfortable wearing hair extensions for the first time, and bonus points for speaking Vietnamese with my mom to help her feel at ease.
She was punctual, organized (even traveling between two locations), and brought such a calm, grounding energy to the day. The hair and makeup lasted all day and photographed beautifully.
I would 100% recommend Cherie and would hire her again, I'm so grateful we crossed paths. Thank you Cherie for saving the day and making our wedding day go so wonderfully.Beauty with Cherie's reply:

Wedding Makeup
I truly cannot put into words how grateful I am for Cherie! I stumbled upon her Instagram when I was in the looks for the perfect MUA for my wedding and could instantly feel her beautiful soul through her work. From the very first moment I attended my bridal trial, I knew instantly that she was the one. She truly listened to me, understood my vision, and made me feel so comfortable and confident — I left that trial knowing I was in the best hands. As soon as she arrived on my wedding day, she brought such a calming, kind, and positive energy that made the whole morning feel so special and stress-free. Cherie along with her assistants Leslie and Jaylyn were incredibly sweet, patient, and made every single one of us feel beautiful. Cherie’s kindness, warmth, and genuine care made one of the most important mornings of my life truly special from the very first moment. She has such a calming presence about her that while she was working her magic and we were chatting away she eased my pre wedding jitters.
My makeup was everything I dreamed of and more — it was flawless, photographed beautifully, and lasted perfectly all night through happy tears, hugs, dancing, and everything in between. I received so many compliments throughout the entire day and night, which made me feel so confident and radiant on such an important day. My bridesmaids also looked absolutely stunning and couldn’t stop raving about how much they loved their makeup. Each one of them felt seen and cared for, which meant the world to me.
Cherie didn’t just do makeup — she helped make my wedding day feel magical. I will forever be thankful for her and would recommend her a million times over to any bride looking for not only talent, but genuinely wonderful people. Thank you again to the amazing Cherie!! -

Cherie is an incredible, talented HMUA, and such a beautiful soul. She is a deeply caring person, which was reflected in the way she got to know me during our session, and paid attention/took notes on the smallest details I shared about my personality, style, and preferences. She also has no ego about her work at all, and was incredibly supportive and open to making adjustments as we went. I booked my trial for the day we were having our engagement photos done, which ended up being great, because I could tell her what I liked and what I wanted adjusted for the wedding day, based on how the photos turned out.
On the day of the wedding, Cherie was an incredibly calming presence, and she didn't miss a single note I'd sent her over email/text since the last time I'd seen her. She was also great with my Vietnamese family, which was a lovely bonus! My hair and makeup lasted all night, and I got so many compliments about what an amazing job she'd done. I would absolutely recommend Cherie to anyone looking for a highly skilled and meticulous HMUA with a great eye--and a great heart! Thank you, Cherie!! -

I booked Cherie as a MUA for my wedding day and she really went above and beyond. Initially, my MOH had concerns about makeup because she tends to go makeup-free due to her sensitive skin. Cherie worked with me to also do a HMUA trial for my MOH in addition to my bridal HMUA trial. She listened to all of my MOH's concerns, talked through different makeup styles and their differences, and explained how to do touch-ups ourselves on the big day if we needed them. By the end of our HMUA trials, we looked absolutely amazing and my family couldn't stop marveling at my makeup when I got home to show them.
My wedding day started incredibly early because of the tea ceremony we had in the morning. Because of this, the HMUA team had to arrive at ~4AM to do all of our hair and makeup. Cherie came right on time with a great attitude and set up quickly so she could get started. She was really friendly to all of the bridesmaids and everyone could talk to her with ease about what they wanted. When it came to doing my makeup, she mentioned that she took some time to study what she had done for my trial so that she could remember how I wanted my makeup done for the day of the wedding. She was also open to any adjustments I wanted to make the day of, although it was unneeded because I thought it had been perfect at the trial. She had also previously told my MOH and me that we could let her know of any changes in our makeup in between the trial and the big day, so she's super flexible!
Weddings are super stressful for brides because there are so many factors involved and surprises that can cause even more stress. Working with Cherie was wonderful because she was so kind and friendly and I knew that I'd look beautiful on my wedding day. I got compliments from everyone on how beautiful I looked from the beginning of the day all the way to the end of the night. I can't thank Cherie enough for doing such amazing work on my special day and I would happily recommend her to anyone looking for a HMUA to make them look beautiful for a special occasion. -

An Incredible Experience with Cherie!
I had such a wonderful experience with Cherie for my friend’s wedding. It was my first time being a bridesmaid and having my hair and makeup professionally done, and I wasn’t sure what I wanted. Cherie took the time to study my features, listen to my preferences, and suggest a look that suited me perfectly. The result was soft, natural, and completely me.
She went above and beyond by offering to help my daughters, who were the flower girls, with their hair so they could feel special too, such a kind and thoughtful gesture. My makeup and hair stayed flawless through the ceremony, photos, and hours of dancing.
Cherie made the entire experience relaxed, fun, and truly memorable. She’s incredibly talented, professional, and genuinely cares about her clients. I can’t recommend her enough! -

I got married quite a while ago but finally have time to post my review now. Cherie is absolutely lovely and she truly cares about making her bride and bridesmaids feel beautiful! She goes above and beyond to tailor each individual's preference. The entire process with her was smooth from coordinating the trial session to the actual day. She is super responsive and a great planner, which is exactly what each bride needs for her wedding! In addition, Cherie is such a sweet person, we still connect on social media and run into each other in the Bay Area and still catch up! -

Cherie is amazing!
Cherie was absolutely amazing and I highly recommend her to all future brides! She was my hair and makeup artist for both the tea ceremony/welcome dinner event and the wedding day. I really liked her portfolio on Instagram and after meeting her at the trial, I was sold. She was having a family emergency at the time of my trial, and still made the time to communicate with me and squeeze me in. She is personable and easy to get along with - it feels like you’re talking to an old friend. As someone who isn't well-versed in makeup and hair styles, I appreciated how she guided me toward a look I absolutely loved. On both event days, Cherie was punctual, efficient, and stress-free to work with. The second makeup artist for the other girls in the wedding party, April, was a joy to work with as well. Since brides spend so much time with their hair and makeup artist on the wedding day, having someone you genuinely enjoy being around makes all the difference. Cherie’s flexibility was remarkable - when there was a possibility our hotel room wouldn't be ready and we might need to set up in a common area, she was supportive and adaptable. We had a situation where one of the ladies requested an extra service on the spot and she was amazingly flexible and accommodating. I was thrilled with how me and my girls looked on the wedding day, but more importantly the whole day felt effortless and fun! -

It was an absolute joy getting to work with Cherie and her assistant, Jennifer, for my wedding! Cherie was reliable and responsive over email (even when a couple of my emails were sent late in the evening) and arrived on time and prepared on the day of the wedding.
As someone who doesn’t usually wear makeup or have my hair done, I wasn’t exactly sure what I was looking for and gave Cherie only a couple of reference photos and vague descriptions to go off of. She took that bit of information and, with her incredible talent and eye for detail, created a beautiful and elegant look that was everything that I could have hoped for. I received so many compliments for it throughout the wedding!
Not only is Cherie gifted at what she does, she is also such a lovely, patient, and sweet person. Her calming, down-to-earth presence was exactly what I needed while getting ready on my wedding day, when nerves were running high – three hours of hair and makeup flew by because Cherie was so fun and easy to talk to!

Cherie was passionate, talented, professional, sweet, and has a very pleasant demeanor. I truly enjoyed working with her on my wedding day this past weekend. This is my first time working with Cherie but I had full confidence in her ability to make me look beautiful and let my natural beauty shine (I was so confident in her from just browsing her work on other brides that I didn't do a trial makeup/hair for my wedding!). She was very responsive and clear in her communication, and we had a video conference the week before to talk through what my vision was and how the day would go.
She started her day with me at 4:45pm and got everything set up before our 5am start time. We had such a great conversation about her journey as a makeup artist and I was so impressed with her professionalism. Her first priority is to make sure it is a hygienic setting (sanitizing all the makeup tools) and that the bride is taken care of during the session (making sure she is at ease and she gets to eat!). She also gave us a touch-up kit which had the most thoughtful items one would ever need on the wedding day (makeup, oil blotting sheets for me and my husband, AND mint which we definitely used!!) The session took 3 hours and her attention to detail and patience to make adjustments based on my feedback were very much appreciated. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out and my husband was staring at me and telling me how stunning I looked during the first look :-)

I'm so glad I chose Cherie for my bridal hair & makeup on my wedding day! She was super responsive to all my emails and I recall one message where I wrote something with typos but she responded with such grace. She listened to all of my inspiration and truly executed the makeup look that I wanted. My wedding just passed on 5/30/2025 with an unexpected heat wave for an outdoor venue. I was concerned about my makeup melting but I was still looking stunning for more than 8 hours. Guests complimented my glow for the evening and I felt like a spring goddess. While doing my makeup and hair, Cherie explained the process which I love cause I like to know everything! Her presence and voice are calming and I'm glad to bond with someone who is intellectual, kind, and beautiful inside and out. I highly recommend her services to any future bride and bridal party! -

Working with Cherie was such a wonderful experience! I knew from our first few back-and-forths via email that Cherie was communicative and reliable. She was thorough in understanding what I was looking for and I didn't have any worries about my hair during all of the other chaos of wedding planning.
On the day of, Cherie made me feel super comfortable and took her time to let me figure out how I wanted my hair to be parted. Throughout our time, she also shared tips on how to get my veil in and out of my hair and also gave me product recommendations for my everyday hair styling. We also had a lovely time just chatting and getting to know each other. It really was the best way to kick off my wedding day! In the end I had a beautiful half-up, half-down hairdo that made me feel so pretty on my special day. This is long overdue—but I got married on December 27, 2024 and I had the pleasure of having Cherie as my hair and makeup artist. Cherie really gave me the bridal experience—not only did she make me feel beautiful, but the conversations and joking helped make the morning go by so smooth. I had a slight hiccup with the hotel we were staying at, but Cherie was so helpful with reminding me to stay calm and have someone else handle it. When she arrived, she reached out to my Matron of Honor just so that I didn’t have to worry which was so thoughtful. She balances the friendly and business vibes very well. As far as providing the look I was going for she really nailed it. I wanted to go softer than I normally go for with a traditional French twist—I felt incredible. She really listens and tends to your needs on that day. If I had any suggestions, needed a darker brow she didn’t make me feel bad about asking. If you want to have the ultimate bridal experience, please book Cherie if you can. You will not regret it. If I have to get my hair and make up done I will absolutely reach out again. -

Simply the best across the board!
Cherie is my go to for all my beauty needs when I need to feel and look my best! She punctual, easy to communicate with and ensures that every hair is exactly right and all my make up is flawless.
I have used her for my wedding and my makeup and hair was perfection all day and all night!
She also did amazing hair and makeup for my headshots and some formal work events.
I just love that she emphasizes my natural beauty and I still feel like myself when she is all done.
Hands down would use her again in the future!

Cherie was the most wonderful HMUA I had the privilege of working with for my wedding day. Highly recommend if you are an Asian bride and want to look beautiful, fabulous, and confident on your wedding day!
She did my bridal hair + makeup and was able to also bring an assistant to help with my mom and the groom's mom's hair and makeup a little last minute. THANK YOU for the flexibility.
She is obviously experienced. Her portfolio on Instagram is what convinced me to choose her out of the many options out there. I wanted a HMUA who has worked with Asian brides before and could handle a variety of styles. I was undecided on what I wanted my final look to be, but she applied her signature touch, adjusted to my feedback, and was able to make me look and feel my best.
Trial: The trial went so smoothly and I ADORED the look she gave me. I literally felt like a fairy princess and got soooooooooo many compliments.
Wedding day: About a week ahead of the wedding day, we were finalizing details, and I wanted to change from an updo to a half-up half-down hairstyle to accommodate a bow/veil thing I tacked on last minute. Day of, she came a little earlier to do a mini consultation and executed flawlessly. I honestly loved the updo so much too! Too bad I had to commit to only one look haha.
Besides that, she is just so fun to chat with. If you're spending 6+ hours with someone, it's important to enjoy talking and working with them!
TL;DR - Loved working with Cherie, highly recommend for bridal HMUA. -

Cherie was one of several H/MU artists referred to me after the person I originally scheduled with had to cancel. Cherie reached back out to me right away and was flexible in scheduling the hair and make up trial at a time when I was in town. She was professional, kind, and also fun to hang out with at the trial and with all my bridesmaids on the day of my wedding! She was so flexible with me as I had a hard time describing what I wanted as I rarely wear makeup, and she was flexible with me as I wasn't even sure even up until the day of my wedding exactly how I wanted my hair. Everything turned out beyond perfect - I have never felt more beautiful in my entire life while also still feeling natural and like myself. I cannot recommend Cherie more. -

I am so lucky to have found Cherie; she is truly a gem in the hair and makeup business! She has done both my hair and makeup for special occasions since 2017. She helped me to look gorgeous for my bridesmaids duties, for my pregnancy shoot, and for special events like chaperoning a high school prom and my daughter's birthday. I absolutely loved my hair and make up on my wedding day! Cherie understood the assignment completely.
I'm a person who barely ever wears make up so I wanted my bridal look to look as natural as possible without it feeling so cakey. Cherie explained that more make up is needed than usual to ensure that it shows up on the photos. She did add a lot of make up, but it definitely did not feel or look cakey, and I still felt like I was in my own skin. To this day, it's probably the best make up that I have gotten done on myself. I have had a few others done on me for other people wedding, and all felt cakey and not natural.
As for hair, I absolutely loved it. I wanted my hair up, but not too perfect. Cherie understood and made the bun well kept, but had some loose strains to make it not seem so perfect. She also included a fishtail braid to give it some character and I really loved it. I wouldn't have thought about the braid, but it definitely gave my hair extra dimensions.
I loved that Cherie was so easy to communicate with throughout the process. I had her do my hmua trial and was amazed by it that I immediately went with her for my wedding day and had no changes.
I highly recommend anyone seeking for hmua services to book with Cherie. I had a great experience! -
