Bean Counter Bakery

We got a gluten free vanilla and lemon cake from Bean Counter and all of our guests kept telling us how good it tasted. Easily one of the best gluten free cakes I've tasted (says the groom with celiac disease), and the rest of our guests enjoyed it as they would a non-gluten-free delicious cake. We want to go to them for any future events we have--and we are really looking forward to our first anniversary so we can eat the top portion of our cake!

We love Bean Counter. My husband and I both went to WPI and Bean Counter was always a special treat during our years there. This past fall we got married and from the start of planning I knew that I wanted our cake to come from Bean Counter. We did side by side taste tests with some other well rated bakeries but Bean Counter came out on top. We were surprised how many cakes are dry or have an off flavor, but Bean Counter’s cake is perfect and flavorful. Their buttercream frosting is my absolute favorite as it is particularly creamy. Rather than a traditional wedding cake, we opted for one of their standard decorated cakes with a beautiful floral pattern that perfectly matched our aesthetic and a sheet cake with photos of the two of us. Both came out amazing and I can’t wait to enjoy the second tier of our cake on our anniversary!

The Bean Counter came highly recommended and I now see why! Our wedding cake was too beautiful to cut into but omg was it delicious! Our guests loved it so much some had more than one slice. 10/10 we highly recommend The Bean Counter if you want your wedding cake to top tier.

As a person with severe food allergies I was worried that I was not going to be able to have the wedding cake that I had dreamed about and I was so wrong. I shared my allergies and vision with Alice and she immediately responded with how she would be able to accommodate us! We were even able to do a tasting, something I thought I would not be able to do. As a gift to my fiancé, he's a real Super Mario/Nintendo lover, I reached out separately to Alice and asked if we could create a surprise, "Grooms Cake," that was just for him and was not catering to my allergies. She loved the idea and we went back and forth until the perfect design was set. On wedding day, the cake was delivered promptly, my cake topper and my secret cake topper were added and everything was beautiful. Our cake was delicious and my fiancé was through the moon when he got his surprise. With the rising cost of everything these days, I felt that our cost was more than reasonable for what we asked for and I would do it all again the same way.

Our wedding was a couple years ago now (Oct 2022) and we are still dreaming about our amazing wedding cake made by the Bean Counter Bakery! Alice and the entire team were so lovely to work with and helped make our dream wedding cake a reality! What was particularly amazing was that the cake was gluten-free (as the bride has Celiac) and it was so delicious that none of our guests could tell. We received so much amazing feedback from our family and friends about how delicious the wedding cake was! It was a gluten-free carrot cake without nuts with a cream cheese frosting layer and buttercream outer frosting to hold the structure of the design better. We are truly so grateful to the Bean Counter for helping make our wedding cake dreams come true!

We chose a simple vanilla with vanilla buttercream cake to have on the cake table for the purpose of cutting the cake for a photo, it was a simple two tier cake that served 28 people. In addition we purchased sheet cakes that were also vanilla with vanilla buttercream and a second one that was chocolate with vanilla buttercream and it was a HUGE cost savings- about half the price of a traditional wedding cake.

People are still talking about the wedding cake! It was scrumptious as were the dozens of mini desserts and the dozens of chocolate covered strawberries. The couple only wanted a very small 2 tier cake - but as the mother of the bride - I knew people would remember the cake so we also ordered a double layer specialty sheet cake so that every slice served was the same. These cakes along with the other desserts were all devoured. Alice Lombardi and her team were attentive, very detail oriented, excellent communicators, timely and very professional. Bean Counter Bakery is now our go to bakery and I highly recommend them.

Alice is friendly and extremely talented. She created my dream wedding cake. The cake was perfect, elegant and absolutely delicious with three different flavors. I recommend having Alice make everyone’s wedding cake.

We used The Bean Counter for our wedding cake and were so happy with how it turned out. There are beautiful wedding cakes, and there are delicious wedding cakes - and you don’t often get both … but you will with Alice. Her cakes taste incredible and our biggest problem was picking which flavor we wanted - try them all! They have many flavors, and they were all delicious and rich. They have many designs to choose from, and they made us a beautiful cake that included figurines of our three dogs. We had The Bean Counter on our radar based on an earlier tasting event we had attended, and then we found out they had made the cake for one of our friends years earlier which we specifically remembered loving, so it was a no-brainer that we'd use them for our wedding, and we were not disappointed. Great cake design, incredible flavor, and on-time delivery; we'd highly recommend them!

I cannot possibly express how much we were OBSESSED with our wedding cake from Bean Counter!!!!! Alice was not only an expert in delicious cake and design, but friendly, helpful, and communicative. We have many allergies in our family to gluten and tree nuts including myself and most of our wedding party. Alice made us feel so safe in having our completely gluten and tree nut free cake for our wedding, along with our incredible cannolis and eclairs. My old school Italian family was RAVING about how delicious it all was! I barely wanted a wedding cake before going to our original cake tasting because I was convinced that there was no way that a gluten free wedding cake would be good. I was SO wrong! After eating the first bite, I was literally more excited about our cake than I have ever been about any dessert in my entire life (which, believe me, says a lot). We fell in love with not only our cake flavors (one layer lemon/raspberry, one layer apple pie filling, and one layer chocolate chip cannoli), but Alice worked with us to get the perfect design that we wanted. Our cake was GORGEOUS and we can't wait to get photos back from our photographer so we can keep reminiscing about our beautiful AND delicious cake! We cannot say enough good things about Alice and her unbelievable talent. Hire this bakery!!!!!
