Fun and thoughtful salon

We had such a wonderful experience at Backstage! We had a group of 8 for hair styling which included myself, my mother, mother-in-law, 4 bridesmaids and my 4 year old niece/flower girl. The stylists were so friendly, kind and talented. All of our hair was beautiful, unique and stayed in all night long! They also had snacks and champagne just for us which was a very thoughtful touch. Thank you everyone!

Backstage provided myself and my 5 bridesmaids/mother beautiful hair styles on the day of our wedding. The pricing is average compared to other salons but the quality surpassed all others. Two girls came to the house the day of the wedding - on time, with their own equipment. They were very friendly and did not need a lot of guidance - they knew what they were doing. The hair came out beautifully!!! Also, they provide a hair trial about a month ahead of time to get an idea of what you want. On the day of I had a few modifications with she performed without difficulty and came out awesome! I would recommend them to anyone looking for great service and results!

We had 2 makeup artists and 2 hair stylists come out to my home the morning of the wedding to do hair and makeup for myself, the wedding party, flower girls, and my mother and future mother in law. Lindsey from backstage organized it all, and she called me before the wedding to confirm what we all wanted, and then a week afterwards to make sure it all went according to plan. All of the artists were professional and listened to exactly what everyone wanted, and everyone was thrilled with the outcome. All of our makeup stayed put, despite the day being 90 degrees. Annie did my hair and even through I changed my idea after my trial, it came out exactly as I wanted. I would highly recommend.

We looked at 4 different salons and tried out three of them to come to the clear conclusion that Backstage was the place for us. They have the size needed for a wedding party, the products and services to cover all needs for a wedding, and the talent to provide the hair and makeup that is appropriate from everyone from your young flower girl to your grandmother in her 80s. They make everyone look their very best for your special day. The prices were good and the professionalism of the coordinators was top notch as well. We truly appreciated the level of communication, follow up, inquiry, and more follow up.. leading up to, during, and after our wedding. Backstage is a fantastic salon for your bridal needs - we highly recommend you give them a look and get in touch.

I had my hair and makeup done at Backstage for my wedding and was really happy with how everything turned out! I was not a perfectionist bride and kind of let the stylist and makeup artist do what they thought would look best and everything turned out great. I had an outdoor wedding in July and decided to wear my hair down, so ultimately I had to re-do some curls before the wedding. However, my stylist, Annie, did an amazing job and I loved working with her. My makeup was also gorgeous and I loved my makeup artist. My only complaint is that my maid of honor had her makeup done by a different makeup artist and she basically had to tell her how to do her makeup. She was happy with how it turned out, I just don't think she should have had to tell the artist how to do makeup. Otherwise, it was a great experience and I loved working with the wedding coordinator, Lindsey.

My 7 bridesmaids and I were impressed by the hair and make up technicians from Backstage Salon. For a reasonable fee, the technicians were able to travel to my home on the day of the wedding. This made for a relaxed morning with my family and bridesmaids. The technicians were friendly and professional. They arrived on time, brought all of their own equipment and brought items for purchase. The wedding coordinator was helpful with answering questions via email and phone. I will definitely continue to return to Backstage Salon and Spa. Thank you!

Brides beware! Book your trial at least 5 weeks prior!

I had a bridal hair and makeup trial a few weeks ago at Backstage and I'd highly caution any bride looking to book with them. I had the same stylist for each service but will not name them.

Honestly, one of the biggest concerns I should note is that they originally booked my trial 3 weeks prior to my wedding but their cancellation window for the entire wedding is 4 weeks. I didn't even realize this until after my trial appt. Luckily I had moved up my trial to 5 weeks prior to the wedding so I had a week to cancel.

I was told to come prepared with my veil, earrings, any hair clips I'd like to use, and photos of preferences - all of which I did. But upon arriving to the stylist's work area she said I didn't need to bring those items. I showed her photos of what I wanted - half up/ half down with curls on the bottom and a little volume up top. She offered to do twists on the side but I said that since I have thin fine hair that I didn't really want to waste hair by twisting it up. She said she really likes that look and recommended we try it - so she did that. I immediately didn't like the lack of volume and asking for a basic pinned back style on the top half, which she then needed to rush through since the twisting took so much time.

Then, I asked if I should wash my hair after the rehearsal dinner the night prior to the wedding or wash it the morning of. She confirmed that I would be styling and curling my hair for the rehearsal dinner and then added that I should not wash my hair at all after the dinner or in the morning and that she would "touch up the curls." Girl, please, I can "touch up" my own curls - I'm not spending hundreds for you to touch up my hair that I styled the night prior for my WEDDING DAY. I honestly should have walked out without paying at that moment. It truly was an accurate representation of all the ignorant things she said the entire time.

So I initially liked the appearance of my hair from the front and she took photos. I looked at these photos upon getting home (I should add this is a destination wedding and a 5 hour drive roundtrip - such a waste of my time). The photos from me sitting in her chair showed the top being lop sided and the curls as frizzy and messy! Not at all like the photos I showed her and not professional looking!

Onto the makeup...I again showed her photos especially of a glam metallic eye I wanted. She started by applying a warm copper brown eye shadow and showed me that. I said I didn't like it since it was warm not cool and matte not metallic. She said they didn't have any shimmery, glittery eyeshadow and if I wanted that look I'd have to bring glitter from a craft store. Seriously? Shimmery eyeshadow is so common! So she didn't change it and continued with foundation, powder, bronzer, and blush. It was cakey near my nose so I asked what I could do to prevent that the morning of, as in more or less lotion. She didn't give me a clear answer and said "sure, maybe more lotion." Not helpful at all.

She then asked me to look at my face again and I said I wanted different eyeshadow, a dramatic eyeliner, mascara, and my lips done. She did a wing liner which she herself said she didn't like but didn't redo it! It was awful, honestly. I had to be very clear with the eyeshadow - cool brown or charcoal and she added a little cool brown which she said she liked more now since I have "so many warm colors going on already". I'm a redhead, how did she not notice that to begin with? I also plan to get lash extensions before the wedding but don't have them on yet so she didn't offer to put mascara on me, which I had to ask for and do myself. She also asked if I wanted to see the "final look" before she applied lipstick. Had to ask for that too. I was so frustrated. I honestly should not have paid nor tipped but I was so flustered I did. I was too embarrassed to even go out in public for a nice dinner that evening.

A couple days later I called to cancel and luckily they didn't give me a hard time but kept offering to switch me to a different stylist.

DON’T waste your $!

Went in person to book hair trial-told me it was $150, pricey, but sometimes wedding-related services are…
Showed up day of appointment (had booked for day of dress fitting to see whole look), owner said they didn’t have me on schedule.(????) I had received a text the month prior, saying I did. Stylist was an HOUR LATE-owner kept saying-“she’s on her way”. I had booked this appointment to be 2 1/2 hours before my dress fitting-plenty of time. I was trying to be gracious as I was excited Stylist arrived-didn’t do what I asked for, I brought extensions-not to use ALL, just to have options to pick from. Used ALL anyway. At this point I knew I was now going to be late for my dress fitting( I’m NEVER late), had to call and apologize to the seamstress, who now had to stay open later for me. Went to counter to pay, no one seemed concerned I was now going to be late for my next appointment-no genuine remorse for this lack of professionalism. Hair looked rushed-and NOT close to the inspo pic I provided-which was only slight wave hair-down style-not even an updo. Kept telling me, “The day of we’ll spend more time, and use shine spray, etc.. (WHY am I not seeing all of this now??) I gave my card and they said, “That will be $250”. $250?!?!?!?! For a TRIAL. When stylist was an HOUR late?? I said, “I was quoted $150 for a trial”. I would have NEVER booked the appointment if she had said $250 when I booked it. I felt mad, frustrated, disappointed and mislead. I went back the following week to express my displeasure as I was so late for my dress fitting, and the cost was $100 OVER what I was quoted(!!!) only for the owner to say, “I’m sorry you feel that way.” SERIOUSLY???
I am getting married in September. I will tell anyone I know, including the wedding coordinator of the local venue to NEVER recommend this company. NOT customer-centered service.
