My wedding wouldn't have been the same without them!
I prefer to call them Ann and Kurtis because they truly feel like friends to me at this point. From the jump, I could be honest with them about my wants and needs for my wedding. I told them from the beginning that I'd be relatively hands off because this just wasn't my thing. I hired them with the intentions that they'd use my few keywords and apply them to their big ideas and boy, they did NOT disappoint.
With very little direction from me, Ann and Kurtis created my dream wedding reception (within my budget, of course). They truly brought my vision to life with their design, florals, and vendor selections.
As for the months leading up, Ann and Kurtis were extremely responsive and listened to all of my last-minute ideas, but also never hesitated to let me know what they thought was best. The vendors they found for our wedding were SPOT ON and our guests are still raving about them. From the catering company, the coffee bar, and the venue -- my day would truly not turned out as it did without the help of ATE.
I can truly say I felt like a guest at my own wedding. I was able to mingle and dance while they ran the show and kept me on schedule. I didn't experience on ounce of stress on my wedding day, which is HUGE, because I knew they'd handle whatever the day threw at them. And as all brides know, something will be thrown. All down to the small details, like my veil getting stuck AF to my headpiece, Ann was there. Picking at my headpiece minutes before I walked down the aisle, to Kurtis bringing us snacks and drinks while we waited for our grand entrance. They were by our sides the entire day checking in on how we felt and what we needed.
I will always keep Ann and Kurtis close to my heart after working with them this past year and cannot rave more about how great my experience was. My greatest tip is this: trust your vendors. If I had not trusted everyone involved, I would not have been as chill as I was. Everything was impeccable and I can't recommend them more for busy brides like me who don't want to touch a thing on their wedding day.
Simply the BEST
Ann and Kurtis exceeded every expectation of what we hoped our wedding weekend would be and also became dear friends along the way. From the first time we met, we were greeted with huge hugs and warm smiles and it already felt like we were working alongside friends - by the end of the planning process we truly were. It’s obvious, wedding planning is not just their job, it’s their passion and that shows so clearly in the way they work with and treat their clients.
We unfortunately had a terrible experience with the planner we originally hired for our wedding and 16 weeks out had to let her go. Needless to say we were panicking and scrambling to find someone who could not only pull off 3 days of events, but could do it under crazy time constraints. To say they executed it flawlessly is not an exaggeration. It’s been months and we still have friends and family talking about everything from that weekend, down to the smallest details of our wedding - they made it that unique, personal and memorable! They ,made it feel like “us”.
Having worked with a very underwhelming planner and then transitioning to ATE, the difference was night and day. Aside from their creativity and design skills, which is bar none, there are some very basic, but critical things Ann and her team do so well! Planning a wedding can be stressful, but they make it as stress-free as you possibly imagine. A huge part of this is because they are so organized and communicate so well. We were kept in the loop with regular calls, FaceTimes and text. I never felt like I didn’t know what was going on or where we stood with timing, budget, etc. and this was so important. They also made us feel so comfortable; they genuinely listened to our wants and needs, so we knew we were on the same page throughout the planning process. If you don’t feel like you can trust your planner’s vision and overall management of your event, look for a new one. We never had any doubts with Ann and Kurtis, which was not only a relief, but allowed us to hand off substantial parts of the planning process because we trusted that they knew what we wanted and we were more than confident in their ability to make it all happen. They are absolute professionals on all levels.
Having gone through this process now, my only regret is that we didn’t hire them sooner. Truly! I wish we had had 10 more months to plan with Ann and Kurtis - I can’t imagine what they would have created with the extra time! If you are looking for a planner (or maybe even more importantly, considering switching planners)... DO IT!! Hire them today, you will not regret it and you could not be in better hands. Your wedding is too important and too much of an investment to not have someone like Ann by your side. She will hold your hand through the whole process, answer your late night panicked calls, turn your rainy wedding day into a fairy tale and create memories you will never forget. There are certain people that just have a positive energy about them; people who spread joy with their genuineness and kindness... that is Ann and Kurtis and I promise, they are the best people to walk beside you while planning your wedding.

Magical Tented Wedding
From the very first call, I knew that we would be using Ann Travis’s services for our upcoming nuptials. We connected from the very first call, and I knew I could trust her ideas, her thought processes, and just her professionalism. To be honest her organization and planning, pretty type A, was music to my ears after the little wedding planning I had begun to do. We began working with Ann a little more than a year out from my original wedding date. We were getting into the swing of things- I came in with a date, a venue and bridesmaid dresses so I just felt like I needed Ann’s guidance for the smaller details that become difficult planning across state lines. Little did I know that Ann would help navigate the year of unknown that 2020 brought us. We started to work through the small details leading up to the bigger decisions that would happen closer to our original date in August 2020. Our calls became longer and longer in the end of 2019, and I was excited for the upcoming event. Flash forward to covid hitting in March of 2020. We continued to power on through planning because it was 2 weeks to flatten the curve, right?
On May 5 2020, Zach and I made the hard decision to postpone our wedding. We had no choice but to for the protection of ourselves, our vendors, and our guests. Ann was there for me as I teared up making the tough decision and encouraged me to have a margarita or two that evening. She reassured me that we would get to planning the next beautiful day soon. We settled on a second date in January of 2021 and that day came and went in a blink of an eye. So now not only has Ann guided me through 2 wedding postponements, but she has also changed my vision and decor and event to fit two dates that were not off the table.
We moved forward with April 2021 that included a change of venue, city, and just about everything in between. I couldn’t have felt more supported and guided than by Ann Travis throughout this time period. She executed the third design to the most magical, dream-like tented space. Everything from the top of the tent and the least in the tent’s curtain down to the flatware and table menu was well-thought out and created a wonderful night that will be remembered by us, our family, and our friends for years to come.
Ann Travis is truly the best in her field and I cannot more highly recommend her. Through all the obstacles that come with planning and replanning and replanning, she and her team made sure that I felt like her only client. She took an idea I had in my head and on Pinterest and executed everything in the most wonderful way. She makes bold decisions in decor that all come together to form one cohesive image and feel for the evening. Her team was wonderful from the planning to the day of and ensured that everything went smoothly. If I had to choose, I’d choose Ann Travis Events again and again and again.

When our entire wedding planning process began, we thought we were just hiring a wedding planner and her team to guide us through the process. Instead, we were blessed with Ann - a visionary of indescribable sorts, a beautiful person inside and out, and now a wonderful friend.
We are beyond grateful for everything you did for us. It was truly a journey going from a guest list of over 500 guests, then down to 200 guests, and then down to 100 guests. We changed dates numerous times and ended up at a completely different venue. Every step along the way, Ann was there to help us with the process and exceed every need. Through a pandemic, sweat, and tears, it takes an extremely special person to do all of this with a smile on her face and the most contagious positive attitude. We started with our dream idea and in the end, Ann showed us that dreams can come true… but that she can make them even better! Words cannot describe the beauty, amazement, and the feeling of our wedding. Every detail, every personal touch, and every moment reflected us as a couple and only highlighted our love for each other. There is absolutely nothing better than marrying your best friend and soulmate under a “billion little starts” surrounded by loved ones in the most unbelievably dreamy setting. This was made possible by Ann and her team, and finalized our thoughts that not only did they create such a dreamy wedding, but they are the ones who are truly magical. Ann Travis Events, even a lifetime of thanks would never be enough for everything you have done for us.

Wonderwoman with a Vision
What can I say about Ann Travis Events that likely hasn't been said by the rest of her clients? From the get-go, Ann didn't hesitate to put us at ease when we said that we wanted to have a wedding in Detroit, while planning from our home-base of Philly. While other wedding planners scoffed at our initial budget and smaller guest list, we connected with Ann right away on both a professional and personal level right during our initial call. She's detail-oriented, the right amount of no-nonsense chutzpah when dealing with vendors, and a completely calming presence.
We wanted our wedding to be an experience - an intimate dinner party for our friends and family, focused on food, cocktails, and design. For the few trips we made it out to Detroit, Ann personally curated a list of vendors so that we were able to efficiently finalize a list, but still enjoy the experience! In addition to the myriad of vendors that supplied chairs, farm tables, and linens, she helped us secure and coordinate the venue (Whiskey Factory!), a caterer (Cutting Edge Cuisine), photographer (Bean and Cole!), videographer (Shane Tincu Films), amazing DJ (Kyle Z from Mike Staff Productions!), flowers (her mom!), hotel (Foundation Hotel!) and dessert (Sweet Heather Anne!).
Beyond her attention to detail and ability to multi-task? The way she was able to take my wife's hopes for her dream wedding and translate that into an inspired vision - simply jaw-dropping. The hanging install, filled with Edison bulbs and flowers, stunned our guests. There was a wall with bottles filled with notes to let our guests know their table and seat numbers.
Ann's a super woman, but she's definitely not a team of one. Kurtis is the perfect complement and their ability to work together clearly translates into a better wedding experience for their clients. In fact, her entire staff helped to make sure that the day-of was seamless. In fact, there were only two hiccups as far as I'm aware of for our wedding - and all out of her control!
#1: During the rehearsal at the church, we found out that the church thought we were flying a priest out from Philly (I know, you'd think they'd confirm something like that, right)? It was all taken care of by Ann and the church coordinator, but knowing that I'm a worst-case-scenario-worry-wart, Ann texted me around 11PM the night before to ensure that it was all taken care of. It's those little things that really helped comfort me during the process.
#2: A few of our guests decided to be no-shows. Without a missed step, Ann apparently made sure that there were no empty seats or plates so it all looked as it was supposed to be. In fact, we didn't even know we had no-shows until a few days later!
You're doing yourself a disservice if you don't sign her up as your wedding planner right away. Well worth it!
