I was so thrilled! The dresses were clean and of high quality. She was wonderful at helping me to choose dresses based on what I liked at other places. None of the other shops I stopped at did as well as she did at guessing what I would like. She knew her selection and was accommodating. She also wasn't breathing down my throat the whole time. She let my mom and I play and have fun together, but she was right there when we needed her.

I'm a fairly frugal person, so the thought of spending thousands of dollars on something I was going to wear once made me weak in the knees. However, like most girls, I still had dreams of looking the best on that day and finding something that made me feel special. I found it here, in a dress that had been worn only once before, with no visible damage, for only $1000 instead of the $2500 it would have cost to buy it new. Their in-house seamstress is fantastic! In the end, the dress fit me like a glove and the only people who knew it wasn't brand new were me, my Mom, and my (now) husband. If the dress doesn't look new, they don't put it on their racks. Seriously, ladies, put away the vanity of thinking you need to have a brand new dress. $1000 is still the most I've spent on one article of clothing, but I left feeling like I'd gotten exactly what I wanted for a fantastic deal.

Don't let the "consignment" store frighten those of you who are all about brands and wearing expensive and high quality fashion. I consider myself very fashionable and love high quality clothing - I purchase most of my clothes from Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom. My seamstress recommended I go to this store to find a dress, so I took her GREAT advice.
I found my dress at Altar Bridal Consignment and was very pleased with the flexibility of hours, not having to make an appointment, and the huge selection. The staff was also friendly and "not stuffy". It is a consignment store with new and used dresses. I happened to purchase a dress that was brand new and came from another wedding store that was switching out their inventory. My dress was a beautiful designer dress for less than 1/2 of the original price. I found it hard to pay more than $1800 for a new dress that I would only wear once. I would rather spend it on jewelry for my big day that I would wear forever (which I did)! You can find a perfect dress here and buy the exact dress right off the rack. The wedding dress I chose was $800 at this store! Originally, I think the dress was over $2,000. The only down side to this store is that you cannot return anything. Once I found the dress I loved, the lady told me that it "might not be there tomorrow", so I felt I had to purchase it right then and there. In the end, I was happy with my dress and everyone told me it was really beautiful. I also did not have to do any alterations at all which was a huge bonus!

I contemplated on getting a dress from here but changed my mind rather quickly. Upon entering the store, there is a distinctive "old and stuffy" smell. That should be a red flag for something not clean. I had been to several bridal stores and mostly, I would say were friendly and cheerful but I encountered a level of aloofness and some arrogance when the lady, who I am assuming is the manager, answered my questions. She did not sound too nice to one of her staff either. I can honestly say that I am on a budget to find a dress but after looking at the dresses (some of which had frayed laces, uneven color, holes on fabric), I asked myself, "why buy a dress from here which are priced ridiculously high when I can buy a brand-new, unused one at a reasonable price. I looked closely at a tulle veil with a hole which she was selling for $120. Sadly, I could not picture myself wearing a dress from here for my wedding.
