Eric Barry is an outstanding photography service at a really competitive price for top photographers. As with other vendors, my wedding planner recommended a different and more expensive photographer who, in my opinion, does not have a lot of artistic talent. I researched photographers EXTENSIVELY because I love photography, I have a good eye, and photography is an expensive and extremely important part of the wedding experience. Eric is artistic and thoughtful without being wedding cheesy at all. And he is a delightful and extremely professional person. He is the best. Period. My advice for your wedding photography is to do some formal portraits before the ceremony and then wait till the reception to do others. (They say you can do it during cocktail hour, but it's too hectic then because you just got married and have to say 'hi' to an entire room full of people.) You can sneak out with people for 2 minutes between dinner courses, and your photos will be relaxed and beautiful at that point. Also, ask for many many portraits of you and the groom/bride (we could have used more selection). And if you feel uncomfortable with a pose or are sick of doing one pose (Eric was obsessed with photographing me on a staircase and took literally hundreds of this same pose), just speak up! It's your photography, don't be afraid to imagine what kinds of photos you want to have for the rest of your life. Also: make sure to tell him to photograph people at every table during dinner and also to photograph non-dancing people at the reception. People like to see photos of themselves, and not everyone is a dancer! I wish everyone at the wedding would have had a couple of nice photos of themselves...
