What is the story behind 128 South?
Nestled in the heart of historic downtown Wilmington, North Carolina, 128 South is a one-of-a-kind wedding and event venue where timeless elegance, breathtaking waterfront views, and genuine Southern hospitality come together.
Housed in the historic VonKampen Building, dating back to the late 1800s, 128 South is filled with architectural charm, featuring original stained-glass windows, exposed brick walls, heart-of-pine beams, hardwood floors, and oversized bay windows. Our beautiful two-story venue features an open floor plan and mezzanine overlooking the main level, accommodating celebrations of up to 180 guests.
And then, there's THE VIEW!
Our private, covered waterfront deck offers spectacular panoramic views of the Cape Fear River, the iconic USS North Carolina Battleship, and Wilmington's picturesque bridges. Imagine exchanging vows overlooking the water, enjoying sunset cocktails, or dancing beneath the stars!

Truly magical venue!
The food was hands down the best food we have ever had at a wedding. Our guests have not stopped talking about how good everything was, and we received so many compliments about the food and the service. The staff was just as amazing as the food itself. Everyone was so kind and attentive, and it really made a difference in our guests’ experience.
We are so thankful we chose 128 South for our wedding. Between the beautiful space, incredible food, and the wonderful people who made everything come together, we couldn’t have asked for more. We would recommend this venue to anyone looking for a wedding venue in Wilmington. We truly had the best experience and are so grateful to the entire team for helping make our day so special!

They handle all your food and beverage, both of which are incredible! We love being a block away from 128 South Events. We often share clients with 128 South or the Bakery 105. Couples will have their ceremony and champagne toast in the Atrium courtyard. A quick walk up the street for guests gets them to Cocktail hour, dinner and dancing. It is always a pleasure working with them in the neighborhood !
