We couldn't have asked for a more perfect venue for our daughter's wedding. From start to finish, the entire experience was seamless. The staff went above and beyond to make sure every detail was taken care of from the setup and timing to making sure we always had what we needed throughout the day.
The Venue was stunning and our guests are still talking about how beautiful the space was. The indoor/outdoor flow made it feel elegant yet comfortable and the lighting in the evening was magical.
We truly felt cared for, and everything came together even better than we imagined.

We absolutely loved working with 128 South for our wedding. From start to finish, the team was extremely responsive and accommodating—whether it was adding a rosé option for the bar or making sure we could offer both fish selections at the poke bar, they made it happen. The venue itself is stunning and full of character. After we signed our contract, they even added a permanent roof over the back deck, which made the space even more beautiful and functional. The location couldn’t have been better for our out-of-town guests—everything was walkable, which was my goal. Another huge benefit was how much the venue included, which saved significantly on rental costs. The in-house catering was phenomenal. We chose stations, and the poke bar in particular got so many compliments from our guests. The beef tenderloin carving station was also delicious. The bartenders were great too. Guests said they were friendly and efficient. I have noticed this is not always the case. I really appreciated how professional all the staff was. All in all, 128 South exceeded our expectations and gave us the most amazing celebration.128 South's reply:

The venue at 128 South Front Street truly exceeded our expectations! The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. Katie and Mira were particularly helpful, providing solutions to every question we had. Even when my daughter requested an ice cream cake, they were more than happy to accommodate her. (We managed to convince her to have something else, haha.)
We also had the opportunity to view the venue, sample the food, and ask for a preferred alcohol choice for my husband. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction.
We rented the loft at 128 for the day of the wedding. We wanted to have a place to hang out and get ready for the bride and her party nearby. We ended up having a delightful pre-wedding brunch in the spacious suite.
The wait staff and bar staff were incredibly efficient, ensuring that everyone was served quickly. They even memorized our drinks, which was a great touch.
The food was absolutely delicious! Guests from the wedding are still asking me who catered and how amazing the food was. I was sure to let them know that it was in-house catering.
If my younger daughter ever decides to get married, 128 South will definitely be a choice for us.128 South's reply:

A PERFECT venue for our perfect day!!
128 South is truly a dream venue! Not only is the venue gorgeous, the food amazing, and the location perfect, but the staff is phenomenal and help to ensure that your vision comes to life. We had our ceremony on the beautiful (recently renovated!) deck, with our dinner and reception inside. The inside is just as gorgeous as the outside, with it's stained glass, chandeliers and beautiful staircase. Katie and Mira were my main contacts, and they are truly a dream team! Katie is every bride's best hype woman, not only helping to build my excitement as the big day got closer, but she always patiently answered my 8 million questions (ok, maybe not that many... but it was close! ;) They were also incredibly flexible and happy to work with me on any requests I had. We planned this wedding as out-of-towners, and they helped me feel comfortable, confident, and excited every step of the way. We truly can not recommend 128 South enough. The venue and the staff exceeded our expectations in every way, and people still haven't stopped talking about the amazing food, as well! THANK YOU, 128 South! From the very beginning 128 south has been incredible. They are extremely professional, informative and most importantly caring. The staff is genuinely just as excited for the wedding as you are and treat it as if it is their own event. For our wedding not only used 128 as a venue but they were also our caterer for food . They offer a wide variety of food and even offer a food tasting. The food is absolutely amazing even our guests stated it’s the best wedding food they’ve ever had . I’ve never been at a wedding where the team was so happy to be there and wanted to help with every little detail . I will always recommend 128 south to anyone looking for a venue for anything but most importantly if you would like your dream event to come true this is the place to hire! We had our wedding at 128 South on March 28, 2025, with 78 guests, and can confidently say it was one of the best decisions we made. From the very beginning, the team at 128 South impressed us with their professionalism and attention to detail. The venue itself is a dream and offers the best of both worlds with beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces, and is a great canvas for any wedding theme/decor. The interior is timeless with gorgeous stained glass windows, rich natural wood, and stunning lighting. And the recently renovated deck? Absolutely breathtaking. We had our ceremony, cocktail hour, and dancing outside, and walking out to our first dance as the Wilmington sunset lit up the sky was a moment we’ll never forget.
As for the food— We’re still getting compliments from our friends and family saying it was the best wedding food they’ve ever had. The shrimp and grits, BBQ chicken, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and green beans were all delicious. Cocktail hour bites were also fantastic, the drinks were flowing, and the portions were generous. No one was ever without a plate or a glass.
The service was flawless. The staff were thoughtful, organized, attentive, and genuinely caring. Everything ran so smoothly that if there were any hiccups, we never knew about them. The only minor issue was a couple of broken glasses on the dance floor early in the night, but the team switched everything over to plastic without missing a beat.
128 South helped make our wedding feel effortless and unforgettable. We are so deeply grateful to their entire team for giving us a day that was beautiful and truly magical. Not only is this the most gorgeous venue for smaller weddings, but the staff is wonderful to work with. I loved that the venue has so much character on its own and didn’t require a lot of additional rentals to make it feel gorgeous and elevated. Katie and Mira are so kind and communicative. The new renovations are absolutely stunning! Everyone who attended raved about the space and I loved that I never had to worry about the weather because I knew it would be beautiful even in the rain. The location is perfect for out of town guests to stay in the heart of Wilmington. If I had to do it all over, I’d pick the same wedding venue, without a doubt!!128 South's reply:

I can not say enough great things about 128 South. When planning a destination wedding choosing a venue can be challenging. I had never been to Wilmington, NC and never saw the location in person until I arrived for my wedding. The staff was incredible and offered to facetime in order to see the venue prior to booking. I also can say that I have never had "wedding food" taste so good! The food was incredible! My guests had nothing but fantastic things to say about this venue! I loved the option that we could have the event upstairs under the tent, move inside for dinner, then back outside for the reception and dancing. This place HAS IT ALL! -

I would come up with the most random questions during the planning process and they would respond almost immediately! Our experience with 128 South catering was great!
The food stations they provided, including the taco station, southern station, and the mac and cheese bar, were absolute hits with our guests. We received countless compliments throughout the evening about how delicious and unique the food was. However, it was the mac and cheese bar that stole the show. Guests couldn't stop talking about how fun and innovative it was to customize their own mac and cheese creations.
One of the things that made our experience with 128 South even more seamless was the easy coordination, thanks to their affiliation with Bakery 105. Since both businesses are owned by the same people, the communication between them was seamless, making the planning process a breeze.
Overall, we can't recommend 128 South catering highly enough. Their delicious food stations, particularly the mac and cheese bar, were a highlight of our wedding reception, and their seamless coordination with Bakery 105 made the planning process a breeze.

We had the pleasure of hosting our March 2024 wedding at 128 South Events & Catering. It was actually the first and only venue we toured after we got engaged - we fell in love with 128 South immediately for it's beautiful historic feel, the natural light, and the ability to have both an indoor and outdoor space for our guests. In addition to the beauty of the venue itself, we were also extremely impressed by the staff, especially Katie Swain, our day-of coordinator. Her ability to keep up with all of the details of our day and graciously communicate our guest dietary restrictions with the kitchen team was absolutely amazing. As the bride and main planner of our wedding, I was nervous my plans/vision wouldn't come together without being hands on with the set up process, but Katie and the 128 South team listened to my requests and made my wedding dreams come true, exceeding every expectation I thought I had. We really cannot recommend hosting your next event at 128 South enough. You will be blown away by their kindness, authenticity, and professionalism. HUGE thank you to 128 South, and to Katie Swain. We could not have made a better decision than booking with 128 South. Their team is truly one in a million and made the entire wedding planning process so much easier. Wonderful staff, delicious food, and beautiful space!
We hosted our wedding here in April 2023. It was the perfect venue! The space itself is gorgeous and needed minimal additional decorating. The food catered by 128 South was amazing. All of the staff were incredibly kind and helpful both during the planning and day of our event. Davis was our day-of coordinator and he was excellent! There were some last minute changes required due to weather and other unpredictable circumstances but he made sure everything went smoothly and that the whole evening went well! I looked at five or six venues in the downtown Wilmington area, and as soon as I stepped into 128 South, it hit me that this would be our venue. It’s so unique with the upstairs/ downstairs part of the inside as well as having the option of going out on the deck as well. I communicated a lot with Jordan and Davis, who answered my million and one questions without any hesitation. By the end of the wedding process, I really felt like everything came together flawlessly. I feel like 128 South has a ton of charm as is so I didn’t need to do a ton of flowers or decor inside, which was a plus in my opinion. I was also able to get ready at the cottage on Orange Street, which was the perfect distance to get to the venue.
I got a lot of feedback from guests that said that they loved the venue too and really enjoyed the food that was served both at cocktail hour and for dinner.
Overall, great experience from start to finish. -

The Perfect Backdrop to a Beautiful Day
128 South was the first and last wedding venue we even looked at, because we walked into the space and immediately fell in love. Having our wedding at 128 South made it possible for us to incorporate all of the things we love about Wilmington (since we live on the other side of the state): a view of the water, the historic charm of downtown, amazing food, and a lively atmosphere! I cannot state enough how wonderful the space was - even our guests commented on how it was the best wedding they've ever attended!
My one concern after booking the space was that 128 is contractually obligated to cater our event, and as a self-proclaimed lover of food, doing menu tastings was one of the things I was looking most forward to. I had no need to worry though - the food was delicious, well prepared, and they were able to accommodate dietary requests so delicious I almost wish they had been on our standard menu!
I cannot say too many good things about 128 South, because the team there truly made our day more special than I ever could have hoped for. If you're on the fence, I recommend touring the space. If you're still on the fence, just know that I would have my wedding there again in a heartbeat. -

Can't recommend enough! Ask for Katie!
Our experience with 128 South was flawless. My parents and I toured the venue while my husband was deployed and they graciously gave us another tour so that he could see the space once he returned home. We booked a micro wedding package, and 128 south was super flexible on the details. They let us expand the guest count past the usual limits for their micro wedding package with no issues.
Katie was a planner/coordinator extraordinaire! She thought of every last detail. The catering team even built us a fully vegan menu. Our guests raved about the food (none of them are vegan!!). The bridal suite was awesome. The space is gorgeous and well appointed, but really the highlight of choosing 128 South was Katie. We highly, highly recommend asking for her by name!! -

Great venue for 100 people
We had our wedding and reception at 128 South. The staff were great day of and quick to flip the scenes. Katie and Jordan were very responsive throughout the process. We had 99 people at our wedding and did not feel crammed at all. The venue is great for 100 people and they will accommodate up to 120 people I believe. The venue included tables, chairs, a few cocktail tables and cocktail glasses, as well as eating utensils. You could also rent a dance floor from them. We had to provide our own plates, chargers, napkins and linens, and water goblets. The deck is covered with a tent which can be decorated with drapes and lighting. There was plenty of space for a DJ, and some open space on the wall of the deck so we hung a neon sign there. The inside of the building was nice and cold which was great for our June Wedding. There are steps to the deck so if you have someone wheelchair bound, this may not be the best venue for you.
We had 5 passed appetizers, a buffet and an open bar with beer, wine and base package liquor. We went with the steak and chicken Marsala as our main courses. We received so many compliments on the chicken and many people saying that this was the best food they’ve ever had at a wedding. There wasn’t a single thing served that I didn’t enjoy.
The venue was moderately priced, but you can scale up or down to make it fit within your budget. Prices did increase a few months after we signed our contract with the venue due to supply chain issues which was frustrating but understandable. The service fee seemed a little hefty at 22%. After taxes and fees, we paid an additional $3,000 (But keep in mind we had almost 100 people that we paid for to have an open bar, buffet, and ample appetizers). Also, none of the fees included tips so be prepared with cash night of for that. At the end of the day, we had an amazing wedding and it was worth every penny. -

Everyone at 128 from beginning to end was incredibly helpful and made planning a wedding 600 miles away seem effortless. Katie answered all of our questions promptly and professionally and we can't thank her enough for all of her time and help. We had to pivot a few times with plans and she always gave great recommendations, and treated us with kindness even though I had 748496767 questions and concerns. Davis was our day of coordinator, and I can't say enough wonderful things about him. I unfortunately, had quite a few hiccups throughout the day/evening (all family related) and he never made me (or anyone else) feel stressed - in fact, he handled every instance with tact and the utmost professionalism and it did not go unnoticed. Many many of my guests couldn't gush more about him. They were amazed and in awe of how flawless he kept the night moving. And I couldn't have been more thankful. We are forever grateful for giving us the wedding of our dreams!! Also - shout out to Sonja (sp? sorry!) and Hayley - without these two ladies, and their initiative and attention to detail (overhearing something I said that none of my family listened to - but SHE DID) my ceremony would have gone quite differently, so thank you!!! Overall it was an unforgettable wedding and it was all because of these amazing people. They truly care about you and your day and want to see it go perfectly for you. -

Highly Recommend!
Everyone we worked with at 128 was AMAZING! They were the best partners I could hope for when planning a wedding! They offered insights and expert opinions on things I wasn't sure about. And rolled with whatever crazy idea I came up with! ha! The customer service was absolutely outstanding! To be honest, I'm a little sad I don't get to work with Katie and Davis anymore now that the wedding is over. Katie was a warm, fun, guiding force throughout the planning process; always quick with a solution to any hiccup! Davis was our Day-of guy and he was brilliant!! I was able to relax and enjoy the party knowing that he had everything in hand! I had not one worry in the world :) His steadfastness even helped to settle my husbands nerves before walking down the aisle! I can't say enough great things about 128 and Davis! -

My husband and I had our wedding at 128 South in March 2022. Y’all, it was BEYOND perfect. 128 South made it so that I could relax, be present, and fully ENJOY my wedding day. I had so much trust in the venue and the team who made my wedding vision come to life.
Katie Swain was our day of coordinator and she was so gracious in helping us navigate a COVID wedding postponement and planning of our big day. She had every minute (literally, every minute) of our ceremony and reception planned - she made sure everyone was where they needed to be at the right time and that everything was placed in just the right spot. Thanks to Katie and Davis, everything flowed seamlessly. I know that they say no wedding is perfect, and of course I’m a bit biased (and might have not noticed any errors because I was Bride-chilla), but I truly believe that our day was flawless. And it could not have happened without the 128 South team.
Katie coordinated all of the details and scheduling between the DJ (shoutout to Shawn Booth from ActiveDJ Entertainment!), florist (Thank you FlowersbySol!), photographer (the talented Erin Taylor Photography) and family participation. What drew us to 128 South was the combination of a historic indoor space with character (those stained glass windows!) and the outdoor deck overlooking the river (perfect for sunset views and a nice breeze when a break is needed from the sweaty dance floor). The location of downtown was SO ideal for guests to walk from local hotels and to continue the party down the street at a local bar after the wedding ended.
Another thing that we loved about 128 South is that the food and alcohol are part of the package (which means less planning!). You can choose from a variety of food packages - we went with the Charleston Touch and received dozens of compliments about the food in particular. We decided on the open bar package which kept guests happy and provided passed champagne for the toasts.
Katie was so responsive, always on top of every detail that we needed, and flexible to facilitate last minute changes that are bound to occur. Davis was amazing as well as was so friendly and kind, a true professional. I can’t imagine the stress of coordinating someone else's’ event, but they were unfazed and ALWAYS, always, met us with a smile and helping hand (whether it be providing us with apps after newly wed photos, helping me with the impossible buttons on my dress to change into the reception party outfit, or making sure I had a drink in my hand).
We can’t say enough good things about this venue and all of the staff that made this perfect day possible! Book it book it! I promise you will not regret it. -

Top notch excellence
I honestly can’t say enough about 128 South and Bakery 105. The staff and service were beyond our expectations. The food was wonderful for so many people and for a sit down rehearsal and wedding. The kindness and professionalism the entire crew showed was just amazing. Everything was on point and we were beyond pleased. Beautiful location, amazing catering, reasonable price, and best of all amazing staff… those are just a few of the highlights from my experience getting married at 128 South. We got married on 10/30/21 and enlisted the help of 128’s Katie as our day of coordinator. We could not be more thrilled with how everything turned out. Katie was so responsive and helpful, always offering advice, ideas and recommendations where we needed it. The river view and deck is seriously awesome too. They allowed us to involve our two dogs in the wedding as well and shout out to 128’s Davis for helping keep them occupied so lovingly befor the ceremony! Highly recommend this venue/caterer for any wedding or special event. Thanks so much again to the 128 South staff! -

Searching for a wedding venue is no easy process and for us, it got SO overwhelming. We selected 128South because we saw so many couples having positive experiences with them, and we had heard raving reviews about the catering. They surpassed every expectation. The food was PHENOMENAL and guests are still talking about it. Katie, Jordan and the team went above and beyond to work with us to make sure we could play around with layouts even though we were not local. Katie would go out and count the number of stairs, measure distance between things - everything to make sure that planning was a breeze. And, to note, this was during the post-COVID wedding boom when I know they were crazy busy. We had about 100 guests at our wedding and although I had some initial concerns about if the space would feel too crowded - none of those concerns turned out to be true. It was the perfect size space and we had both our ceremony and reception on-site. The team worked closely with us to get a tailored menu in-place and ensure we could serve our desired specialty cocktails. Everyone was so flexible, so kind and really made the planning process less stressful than I expected it to be. Day-of, the event staff made sure the day was SO special for us and I can't say enough thanks to the team! 128South will always hold a special place in our hearts and I am SO glad we chose to get married here. -

WOW where do I even begin? To start, 128 south’s staff is unparalleled. The entire team truly felt like an extension of our family. Katie Swaine was our day of coordinator but that title doesn’t fully capture the magnitude of the role she played for us over the planning process. She is kind, calming, and all around incredible. She was so attentive, always made time for any questions we had, and made our day absolutely perfect. Her day of assistant was also an absolute gem and never missed a beat. We miss the whole team and are just so appreciative of all they did. I would recommend them to literally everyone who wants to have the most dreamy, smoothly operated, historic riverfront wedding! -

128 South was the perfect venue. We hired the in house wedding coordinator, Jordan and she was amazing. She kept on top of everything and was super detail oriented.
The whole staff was helpful and kind to all of our guests. The food was superb and everyone is still talking about it a week later;)
I would definitely recommend using the bridal cottage! The bridesmaids had so much fun hanging all day with the bride. It was so convenient to get hair and make up done and walk across to the venue. No car ride necessary! -

From the initial visit to the end of our our dinner, Jordan and Katie were there every step of the way. The food prepared by 128 South was fabulous, wonderful wines flowed. Gorgeous and Budget Friendly
I picked 128 South for the chandeliers and the view of the river. Their team was so helpful and flexible with everything going on with the pandemic. Our guest count went from 150 down to 60 and they changed everything promptly. My wedding was absolutely gorgeous and went off without a hitch! I would highly recommend this beautiful venue -

Amazing venue. Very romantic
From the rehearsal dinner, welcome party and wedding, Katie and Jordan were wonderful. Their attention to detail, suggestions and delivery were impeccable . Food was delicious, service first rate and every wish was fulfilled. Best experience- they went overboard to make sure all the events went smoothly. The Most Perfect Venue
This venue is naturally stunning, but the people are what really makes it perfect. Katie is the most amazing coordinator. She went above and beyond. I couldn’t imagine my wedding day without her. She is so kind and hardworking. The rest of the staff was also amazing the night of the wedding. The bartender and servers were always nice to my guests and smiled. The food was delicious. The balcony is the best place for your ceremony. I cannot recommend this place enough. Absolutely gorgeous and complete package. -

We loved the venue and staff so very much. They had everything prepared for us, food drinks seating all swapped so seamlessly. The views from the back deck were amazing and the inside was pristine. I had my rehearsal dinner here for a group of 25 and it was such a perfect night! Jordan and Katie were a pleasure to work with and executed everything perfectly. Where do I start? There aren't enough positive things I can say about 128 South and its team. Our original wedding was 5/9 at Bakery 105 (their sister site). We had to postpone because of COVID-19 so Mira and team worked with us to find a new date that fit with all our vendors. We thought we were all set, but the pandemic had other ideas. Bakery 105 was still closed and the limit on gatherings meant we had to reduce our guest list substantially. Mira worked with us to move our event to 128 South,
and she worked with our vendors to make sure everything ran smoothly. We were *finally* married on July 31st, in a small ceremony at 128 South. It was wonderful down to the very last detail. I honestly can't thank 128 enough for making our day special. After all the cancellations and postponements and menu changes, it came together perfectly. We will always remember our big day and how much 128 South helped us make it happen. PS: Rent the cottage if it's available! -

Truth be told, I actually booked 128 South sight unseen since I was traveling from Pennsylvania for our wedding, and it was the best decision I could have made! I could not have been happier with the way my wedding at 128 South turned out! Katie and Jordan and the team at 128 South were incredible to work with throughout the whole wedding process, especially in the middle of COVID-19. They were so flexible and accommodating and put me so at ease in the midst of all the uncertainly surrounding our wedding day. They truly wanted to make my wedding day the best possible day that it could be. The venue is gorgeous and was absolutely perfect for my intimate gathering! The food was amazing, and all the staff were so professional and helpful! The theme of my wedding was simply elegant, and that is truly what 128 South was. You will not regret booking this venue!! We had such a good experience working with Katie (the wedding coordinator) and the crew at Bakery 105/128 South. We had our wedding set and planned out and then the Covid-19 pandemic hit. Katie did such a great job working through countless variations of what the day would look like with us, trying to figure out what would be allowed during all of the restrictions, while still trying to have our dream wedding. She more than succeeded our day at 128 South was perfect! The food was amazing, as were the bartenders and staff that worked at the event. Katie more than exceeded our expectations as a planner during the whole process, but especially the day of, she took care of so many things that we didn't even think about- her attention to detail is top notch! I'm not even sure where to start about our great experience with 128 South. We booked them initially because of the beauty of the venue. Its historic elements and vibes were exactly what we wanted and minimized the amount of decorations we needed to add. They were even more beautiful in the evening during our reception seeing the sun come through the windows and shine off the stained glass. We also loved that 128 South does its own catering. While some people may not prefer this, it was perfect for us because we didn't have to worry about reaching out to other caterers (yay, less wedding stress), AND the food was AMAZING!! Y'all, seriously I just want to eat there regularly it was so good. Katie and Jordan, our coordinators at 128, were extremely helpful and there whenever we needed them whether through phone or email, for questions and concerns big or small. And perhaps the best part was that on the wedding day I didn't have to worry about a thing. Literally, they had it all handled, and their impeccable planning of the flow and prep for the day were seamless. Everyone told me before the wedding "something will go wrong-big or small-just accept it and move on", but NOTHING went wrong, and I truly believe it was because of the great team at 128 South. Couldn't have imagined a better venue or team to help us on the best day of our lives. -
