I get really irritated when I read posts about brides bashing Chinese Wholesale Wedding Dresses. Seriously, have you taken a look at your clothing that you wear daily, and read the tag where your clothing was actually made? I did a quick scan of my clothes and maybe 1 or 2 out of 30 items I looked at were actually made in the USA. Some of my t-shirts were made in Vietnam, Indonesia, Haiti, Honduras, Taiwan, and China. My Sketcher sneakers were made in China. My bra was made in China. My underwear made in Sri Lanka. The pillow cases on my bed, made in China. Yes, I purchased a wedding dress from a China. Does that make it not good enough? Yes, my dress is made of the same beautiful satin material that a Davids Bridal dress is made of. Did you think I would wear something cheap looking on my wedding day? I honestly thought I was doing the smart thing buy purchasing my dress from China and cutting out the middle man, which is the bridal shops who jack up the price of their dresses. cont.

As I have said before, if people can afford the risk than that is there choice. As a seamstress I have heard both good and bad stories and even worked on a couple of these dresses. Most of the time the quality isn't great but it's something that only a seamstress would notice just like you won't see a chef ordering from McDonalds. lol. That would be funny though, wouldn't it?

I also have a really pleased purchasing experience with a china online store trustedeal.com. Although I don't try my dress before buying it, when I got the dress, it suits me perfectly.

Then there are the ones who are plan up just scams. Not all of them are but there are the opnes out there. I blame it on the internet but because they are in china you have no legal actions against them basicly stealing. And showing a picture of someone elses dress and saying it will not be exact is stealing a design it is the exact same thing as looking at stary night and painting it. You did not come up with it nor did they therefor it is stealing the design.

All I have to say is I have my gorgeous $200 CHINA dress that im gonna wear in four months and I LOVEEEEEEEEEE IT, it came all the way to Jamaica, where I have no access to all the fancy stores you guys do, my choices are limited to expensive boutiques, so i bought it straight from china, its not for brides who have a tight budget

While I have no issue with dresses from china, I personally would not buy a dress I can't try one first.

I also have a [political] issue with the US-China trade policies and their deliberate devaluation of their dollar in order to keep their prices lower than US made goods.

I couldn't buy a dress I haven't tried on before. However, $200 is not a lot of money to risk on a dress soo.... That being said, I would be surprised if any dress any bride wears is not made in China. Mine is a Casablanca dress and my bridal salon cautioned me to order a little earlier then usual because China is closed down for most if not all of January. ...

Hahaha you're funny T&J. China does have a bad rap..and a lot of times it's justified. But its really all about the actual business and how dedicated they are to producing quality things. it doesnt matter what country its coming from. i bought my first dress from china and they did a horrible job to say the least. there was a string hanging from it. the fabric wasnt sown in all the way. but i just think i went to the wrong store to buy it. nothing to do with it coming from china. anyway im sure you're dress is beautiful!

I was going to buy a wholesale dress from china, but I got scared at the last minute that it wouldn't fit right :/

If it works out for someone else, that's awesome!

This is just a HUGE deal for me and I don't want to get disapointed.

Nobody said that a dress that cost $200 was any less special than a dress that cost $1000 or more.

I'm glad that others are able to get their dream gown at a lower cost-I know mine came with an american tag at an american price!

It might have even been made in china :p

Copying a design, even if it's not exact, is still stealing. It's no different than sitting in a theater and recording a movie with a video recorder.

I bought my dress from China and loved it!! I was a little afraid of purchasing from the internet but in the end it is all about what the buyer wants. I see the risks in buying anything over the internet not just from another country because you never know what you are going to get.

Well, if David's Bridal hadn't had my dress on sale at a drastically reduced price, it would have been off to China wholesalers for me! The great majority of wedding dresses are made in China anyway, so if anyone has resistance to China's employment issues or US-China trade relations, good luck finding a wedding dress that has not been made in China.

As for "stealing" the design? Could be. But if I were a better seamstress than I am, and I were to create a mock-up pattern of a dress that a friend/loved one really wanted (because I can do it cheaper, let's say). And I were to then make that dress, based solely on seeing the dress - that is perhaps "stealing." But then, the visual representation of the dress (photograph) is in public domain, so I would guess the designers are taking their chances. Besides, I doubt the designers are not fully aware of the "China wholesalers."

I can't fault a bride who wishes to look great and not pay the hefty price tag.

I really would like to start buying more American made (as I stated in the other thread) but in most cases it ain't even possible! My weave is not from the US. My nails are not made in the US. even though my car is a Chevy, chances are there are parts made from somewhere else. So...eff it. Do what's best for you.

I ordered my dress from aphrobridal.com. I was worried because I had never ordered anything from overseas, well I should have never done it. They charged my credit card for the dress and then claimed to have never received the money. You can't get them on the phone, only email. So when I tried to tell then there had been a mix up they repeatedly told me to pay them for the dress and they'd send it. Seriously?!? So now I'm out the money while I dispute the charge with my credit card company and I have no dress. This is a terrible company. DO NOT USE!

I know this discussion is old but if anyone can tell me the Chinese company they did use and liked that would be very helpful! I've found several that make the dress I want just not sure which one is best. I've tried to research into them but don't find out a lot. Any help would be great thanks!
