Spray tan or not? And do you do your face??

Rachey, on April 20, 2014 at 3:24 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

So I've had a few IPL treatments for brown spots and freckles so now I'm uber white. I've never spray tanned before and was thinking about trying it now since I'm 47 days out. I am looking for some feedback on whether or not your face should be included or just body. I have a good foundation that I love so I would rather not spray tan my face but I don't want it to look awkward. Thoughts or advice?

I've never actually been, but from what I read online, yes, you normally have your face done, too. The advice given is to have a technician do it (rather than an automated booth).

A lot of tanning salons have pretty detailed instructions/FAQs on their webpages, so I would look for a salon that can give you really detailed information/tips like that.

Yes, you do your face. Spray tanning has came along way. I would suggest doing it a time or two before your wedding. Your hands is the hardest part to get right. A log of times between your fingers ends up not looking right so you have to figure out how to hold your hands the right way.

It rubs off on your dress, esp around the armpit, so be prepared for that

Definitely try it out now! I had one done as a test as I plan on getting sprayed before my bridal shower (next weekend!) and again before the wedding. It shouldn't rub off on your dress - you should get sprayed 2-3 days before the big day and be all set!

I like to do regular stand-up tanning. I use it at my gym Planet Fitness. I'll probably start getting a base pretty soon. I don't want to be too tan because I already have naturally olive toned skin and FH is pretty pale, so I don't want to wash him out in pictures.

I went to a technician for 3 applications the week of. I have a base tan so i did the natural color instead of bronze to erase tan lines. My face is tan enough from driving a convertible so i skipped it

It won't come off on your dress as long as you don't get it done the day before your wedding- assuming you go to a respectable place. I used to work at a tanning salon and provided personal spray tans, but since I quit I get box spray tan (blue box- called mistique tan or something similar) and I just wash my hands after one hour, face after 3 and body after 6! I also do instant color (meaning it will develop faster but not as dark, but this is plenty dark and always looks great.) I do dark, but I'm naturally somewhat tan, my FH got one for Halloween when he was being me, and got medium-dark and it looked natural on his pale complexion! Getting a test run is always smart, let us know what you think (you will look very orange BEFORE your shower for a non person giving spray tan. Don't worry! Nothing will happen it you leave it on longer than 6 hours, it automatically stops developing around then- feel free to get an apt late in the day and sleep on it after washing your face and hands after the first few hours)

Thanks for the tips ladies. I'm just wondering if I spray my face if that's going to throw off my foundation color. It took me a while to find my perfect match.
