sanibel wedding
I am trying to plan a wedding in Sanibel Florida for June 5th. It is so hard to do from the internet! Has anyone planned anything in that area? I can't seem to find somewhere for 50 guests that will do the wedding and reception for less than $150 per person. We are doing a BIG reception back home a month later so we are trying to keep the wedding decently priced....HELP!

I am not familiar with the area, however, this song was written about Sanibel by a friend of a recent bride and it was played at her wedding. Here's a link to it, then click into Sanibel Sunset: http://www.billbosler.com/waterbound.htm

I LOVE Sanibel Island. Problem is, it's very touristy, so expect to pay for the beauty of the location. And yeah, I tried to plan an out-of-state wedding, and it became so overwhelming I ended up pushing the date back so I could do it in Atlanta. Tons of luck though! My father travels to Sanibel a lot on business though, so next time I talk to him I'll see where would be a possible good location. =0D

Have you considered an outdoor wedding? The pictures I've seen of the beaches there are simply stunning, and I imagine they could only charge so much to be outside. They may charge something if it's private property, but your best bet would be to find a planner that lives there to help you out and communicate for you. They will know the best places to use and where to find good prices.
And you're always welcome to take me with you! What I wouldn't give for a vacation to the Florida beaches. LOL :)

Thank you all for the ideas. We are looking for an ourdoor location currently. I may have to think outside of the box and do the reception at a restaraunt instead of the touristy resorts. I know the location is beautiful and that is why we wanted to get married there. I will keep you posted!

Write an email to the sundial resort. You can google their webpage and their packages for weddings were pretty affordable. I only was pricing for 20 people and they were gonna charge $119 per person for everything! That was ceremony, reception, cake, 3 course meal, open bar, passed hors dourves, wine service, and all set up and rental fees for location and tables and such...pretty good price.
I was gonna choose them, but decided on the Bahamas cuz it's a little cooler in June.
Their resort looked absolutely beautiful though, and they have this great wedding planner who will take care of everything for you.
Good luck!

We photographed a wedding at Casa Ybel. The couple got married on the lawn, adjoining the beach and had their reception inside. The do offer weddings on the beach. Perhaps you can get married on the beach and have a tented reception out on the lawn? I don't know the pricing, but perhaps it is worth it to check out.
